Lecturers’ Union Calls for Full Vaccination of All Students by September and Continuation of Mask-Wearing on Campus

by Michael Curzon
23 July 2021 12:47 PM

The University and College Union (UCU) remains unconvinced that it is safe for university life to return to normal and has urged the Education Secretary to see that all students are fully vaccinated by September. It is also demanding that universities continue to impose mask mandates on campus. The Guardian has the story.

The UCU has written to… Gavin Williamson, warning that the Covid chaos seen in universities last year will be repeated unless strict measures are in place to protect staff and students.

The union wants all students to be double vaccinated before the start of term in September, with jabs made available to younger students in further education once approved by the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation.

It is also calling on universities to “provide and mandate” the wearing of high-quality face masks by both staff and students, access to free PCR tests, and funding from the Government to support education recovery.

It wants robust health and safety risk assessments ahead of the new academic year, modifications to buildings to improve ventilation, measures to allow for effective social distancing, and improved mental health provision for students. …

The UCU described the dropping of social distancing and mask-wearing in England, and the reopening of nightclubs, as “reckless” and a “recipe for disaster”.

The letter to the Education Secretary said: “Last year, ministers green-lit the mass movement of students across the country and failed to recognise the effect this would have on infections, on those working and studying in the sector, and on the wider communities of which they become a part.

“As the Westminster Government removes all restrictions and the associated public health guidance, there is a real danger that unless we learn key lessons from last year, our education settings become incubators for Covid all over again.” Letters have also been sent to the Scottish Government and the Northern Ireland executive.

Covid jabs have been approved for young people up to three months before their 18th birthday, but the UCU says students should be treated as a priority group to ensure they are fully vaccinated before September, in time for the start of term. …

A Department for Education spokesperson said: “We strongly encourage all students to take up the offer of both vaccine doses as soon as they become eligible. We also recommend that face coverings are worn in enclosed and crowded spaces where people may come into contact with people they do not normally meet, or in the event of a local outbreak.”

Some universities will not need any persuading. Students at the University of Oxford, for example, have been told that rules on mask-wearing and social distancing will remain unchanged, despite the passing of ‘Freedom Day’.

The Guardian report is worth reading in full.

I’ve noticed the ability to succeed in academia is often based on memory, hard work and brown nosing. Those with great analytical minds are the minority.
A lot of academics are just doing a job not a calling.

I’ve been there and, believe me, it’s at least 75% brown nosing. The remainder is mostly luck in happening to jump on the right ideological bandwagon at the right moment. Too early and you’re spurned as a freak; too late and you’re trampled in the rush.

Members of the UCU do not appear to be particularly well educated; indoctrinated yes, educated no, but having worked for 26 years at a Russell Group University, that comes as no surprise.

No. That’s not the issue. It’s about a parallel to the failure of political institutions, with the floating turds taking over in the leadership of unions as well as parliament.

Maybe. But if the system can be gamed in this way without safeguards preventing that, it’s fundamentally fucked: Unions are supposed to enable workers to hold their own when negotiating with employers.

They’re not supposed to partake in creating imaginary dangers to their members and then try to dicate members of the general populace how they must behave and what they must buy(!) based on this pretext.

There’s a(nother) covert FFP2-mask salespitch in the article.

Universities will lose revenues from:

  • International students, the highest paying fee payers.
  • Any sane parent or college student who understands adverse reactions and deaths from gene therapy.
  • Universities towns, such as Aberystwyth, which relies heavily on the student economy will be adversely effected.

I feel for those that need degrees (law, dentistry) to start their careers. Though after the 18 months they’ve experienced they should leave these indoctrination hubs as quick as possible.

A part of me thinks this is being planned, along with digital currency – track and trace money.

When have Unions ever cared about whether their parasitism is sustainable?

They’ll be betting that the universities will just demand however many billions of magic money it takes to cover the gap, and they’ll probably get it too.

I am thankful that my sons school (primary) have written to us to say all restrictions will dropped when the school returns in September.

If i was a parent of a uni age kid, I would be urging them to defer. The question is to do what?

My daughter is already deferring a year. I don’t think we can get her to defer after that. And she just wants to live. Not sceptical enough, and hasn’t read a single thing I’ve sent her. Thinks we are all mad according to other daughter. I don’t know if there’s anything else we can do. The f’ing bastards doing this to our family. I once had aspirations to become a paramedic but instead I spent several happy decades as a voluntary first aider driving an ambulance and working my way up to paramedic level. I recently had to step away from the organisation in question as their whole raison d’etre is now injecting the gene therapy into people and I could never partake in that evil. Given the current circumstances I’m glad I didn’t go down the paramedic route as I’d have to wear a face nappy all day and work long shifts. I also bet it won’t be long before paramedics, like care home staff, will be mandated to be jabbed or lose their job.

It’s the best thing you could do, learn about the real world, not the nonsense being “taught” at uni.

If she learns to even be a tiny bit sceptical of what she’s told by authority, she’s not wasted the year.

It won’t be because it’s a flop though, you can be sure of that – it’ll be the fault of us filthy unvaccinated and/or because of some scariant or other that the vaccine isn’t effective against.

It won’t matter if there is strong scientific evidence that the officially approved excuses are bollocks – the politicians and the media will just keep repeating it even if it obviously defies basic logic, and the sheep will all believe it and pour scorn and contempt on anyone who cites evidence.

Good idea, force students to take this new experimental vaccine before they can go to uni – and here’s one of the worlds top doctors and expert warning about the extreme dangers of this potentially fatal jab….

Dr Peter McCullough MD is a Professor at Texas A & M College of Medicine, President, Cardiorenal Society of America, Editor-in-Chief, Reviews in Cardiovascular Medicine, Senior Associate Editor, American Journal of Cardiology and others. He has written 46 peer-reviewed publications on COVID-19 and is considered among the world’s experts on the topic, testifying in the US Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs in November 2020, and throughout 2021 in the Texas Senate Committee on Health and Human Services, in the Colorado General Assembly, and in the New Hampshire Senate, concerning many aspects of the pandemic response.

The students will comply anyway, they love it.
Very few also have the guts or intelligence to make use of the mask exemption.
The rise of the woke ideologists created incompetence on daily business and the young are completely infiltrated by it- see Achgut today.
This does, of course, not bode well for the future of humanity.

It certainly doesn’t bode well for Western democracies. The rest of the world is laughing at us while we commit cultural suicide, and it’s all down to the radical Left who have ruined everything good about our societies, while everyone else let them.

The universities will simply refuse to admit those students, or make their lives so bad they’ll comply.
A student in the U.S. has just lost a case objecting to exactly the same measures over there.

Zahawi doesn’t even want people to go to church without being double-jabbed. Whether the ‘vaccines’ work or not doesn’t matter any more, if you do not have ‘something’ squirted into your arm you lose access to everything – public transport, supermarkets, your bank account (vaccine status being linked to bank cards).
No jab and you get kicked out of society.

Talk about sucking all the joy out of the whole university experience, which will have been utterly ruined for so many by the time this covid nonsense is allowed to end (assuming that it ever is allowed to end).

I count myself very fortunate that I attended a decent university years ago, before they were all transformed into safe-space woke re-education camps run by public health zealots.

This analysis is wrong.
Yes , there are many elements and motivations why people are going along with this from hubris as mentioned, also financial, virtue signalling and love of drama. In the public it also includes simple fear.

But! Behind it all is a plan to introduce world totalitarianism, some are in on it and some are just carried along. Who is it? I don’t know could be China, could be the people behind the big investment houses. Maybe there are groups we don’t even know about.

To keep his bank card updated and his bank account accessible. No vaccine = no money, no travel, no shopping, no Internet access, no phone, no nothing.
The fun will start when there aren’t enough ‘vaccines’ to go round (deliberately) and each time a percentage of the population will not be able to get theirs, and then be shunned from society – and plonked in prison for the crime of ‘vagrancy’.

Campus chaos and disruption has been caused by universities’ zealous compliance with government lockdown diktats, not disease. It’s not as though thousands of teaching staff and students were cut down in their prime by SARS-CoV-2. The UCU’s enthusiasm for the mass injection programme is a liberal-authoritarian characteristic common to most public sector unions. They are a disgrace.

Young man, young lady: don’t go anywhere near a university for the foreseeable future. Take any job, even if it’s sweeping the streets, that allows you to remain human. If ever sanity returns, you can go to university then. Degree inflation being what it is, by then you’ll need a degree in order to sweep the streets anyway.
