Canberra, the capital of Australia, is being plunged into lockdown for a whole week following the reporting of a single positive Covid test.
The Daily Sceptic's in-house doctor says the widely trailed tsunami of hospitalisations has not only not yet arrived after 'Freedom Day', but that we seem to be on the downslope of the ‘third wave’.
“Nobody really knows what’s going on”, says the epidemiologist John Edmunds, commenting on the recent decline in cases. But there are at least nine previous examples where cases fell in the absence of restrictions.
Covid cases are falling in every English local authority, with 31,117 cases reported today, down by more than a fifth on last Thursday.
