Mask-Wearing to Stay in Many Settings after July 19th as Businesses Set Own Rules

2 min read

Boris Johnson is due to announce the end of face masks laws from July 19th later today but will continue to advise mask-wearing in crowded and enclosed spaces. Businesses will be allowed to set their own rules, and it is expected that Brits will have to carry on wearing face masks in shops, pubs, buses and trains after “Freedom Day”, according to the Telegraph.

“We will still be encouraging people that it is probably sensible to wear a mask in a busy enclosed space,” said a source. “Although it is not legally required, it doesn’t mean people should not strongly consider doing it.

“You don’t have to wear them but if shops, pubs or restaurants demand that you do, we will advise people to be mindful of that and stick to it because it is their premises.”

Hospitality chiefs said masks, table service and the rule of six would continue in some venues after July 19th, as Covid risk assessments, enforced by councils, are left to individual businesses.

Kate Nicholls, the Chief Executive of U.K. Hospitality, an industry body, said: “There’s going to be customers who are expecting everything to fall away and there’s going to be places that they won’t be able to do that.”

Millions of commuters on London’s Tube are also likely to be told they must continue wearing masks after July 19th, as well as Tube buskers, who must even wear a mask when they sing.

This is exactly what Conservative MP and Deputy Chair of the Covid Recovery Group Steve Baker warned would happen last week when he said that Sajid Javid had “worsened” the prospect of all restrictions being lifted on July 19th. “Voluntary measures will be interpreted by the Health and Safety Executive and businesses and could effectively be compulsory,” Baker said. “So until the Government stops recommending these things, too many businesses will become unviable.”

The Telegraph report is worth reading in full.

Any business that imposes its own mask requirement should have carried out a risk assessment. Ask to see a copy of it. Any public body that requires one should have carried out a risk assessment and an Equality Impact Assessment. Ask to see them. There should also be a CoSHH assessment if they provide hand sanitiser and try to insist on its use. Ask to see it.Write to Head Office rather than taking it out on some suffocating low paid member of staff though.

This reporting is all very confused. This article tells us we must keep wearing masks, the previous article told us the mask mandate will be lifted. What is it? Will masking continue to be law, enforcable with fines after the 19th, or will it just be advice? If it is advice / a guideline, then it is not true to say that we “must” keep wearing masks.

So, as I thought, nothing changes. Get prepared for a stinker of an Autumn/Winter! Summer was our one chance to get back to as near as normal as possible and that has been blown. I blame the majority of the U.K. public whose brainwashing is complete. May they regret it one day.

Those businesses who are too stupid to see the end game will be destroyed. It is their own fault. They are the useful idiots in the Globalists gameplan. No one will own anything and the State will be in full control from cradle to grave. The CCP version of Government so beloved by the psychopaths on the left.

The Tory MPs who have been silent throughout this whole scam are complicit in the UK falling to communism. They should have been speaking out from the beginning. We are now a divided society that will only get worse until the swamp can be drained or it fails. The CCP are successful in keeping Chinese people under total control because they have no moral values. The one child policy, forced abortions, poverty by slave labour in the factories, no human rights lobbyists, but every single hour given to the Party. This is the roadmap that many Western Governments want too. Our disastrous time in a socialist political project has encouraged the very worst of people to enter politics who are now happy to commit genocide on their own citizens in order to control.

I propose a shopping spree on the 19th. Go to your local high street by public transport, maskless and lanyardless, visit as many shops as possible in the time available. If you go by tube, be generous with your coins to any maskless buskers. The more sheep there are walking in a particular direction, the more likely the whole flock will follow.

A lot more people than I expected were not wearing masks on the tube last Saturday. First time I had used it in several months. Was good to see. They are filthy things. I read somewhere that mask wearing means people are breathing in 6 times the safe level of carbon dioxide, i also read that this can lead to a form of brain fog.

I don’t wear a mask now, so any establishment that requires me to wear one will not get my custom. When they see footfall dropping, they will soon stop their virtue signalling. Virtue rarely remains when pockets are emptying!

So ‘Boris Johnson is due to announce the end of face masks laws from July 19th later today but will continue to advise mask-wearing in crowded and enclosed spaces.’
I wonder how this will affect churches?
My prediction is that our useless right-on bishops will continue to ‘recommend’ the things. They MIGHT (I wouldn’t bank on this) continue to recognise exemptions but the problem with ‘exemptions’ is that it implies a law or regulation from which to be exempt. I object to that.
All of this, of course, will be for our ‘safety’.
But further down the line, when the truth really does come out (and it will) it will be recognised that ALL of this nonsense was based on a pack of lies.

Those who have lost their jobs for no reason will ask why no senior churchman (or woman) questioned the narrative. Those whose life plans were destroyed for no reason will ask the same question. As will those medical operations have been delayed or effectively cancelled because of premature death. Parents with children whose education has been disrupted will ask the same thing. Those who know of suicides and attempted suicides will also ask the same thing. And… Read more »

Is Mask wearing based on science or superstition? Sadly the only study which would resolve this is to expose two equal matched groups to the same environment with matched and varying viral loads.. For those of us who have worked on infection even in the controlled surgical environment it is subject to gross error. Each patient is their own experiment in infection. Why do otherwise seemingly sensible individuals such as Chris Whitty attach such magic to masks? In Public Heath you can’t operate, can’t give drugs but you can mandate control. Masks are the ultimate identification of control:dividing the populous into the good and the bad. Beware if you continue to wear masks if you are basing them on the Whiity rule of 3. – it is superstition not science.

it isn’t about science or medicine or protection from a virus – it is about control. The mask mandate was about conditioning the public and it has been very successful

Once, (if?), this nonsense actually stops being law I’m done. If any business demands that I wear a mask it will be the last time they see me. There’s really nothing else I can do. It might even work out for the best- who wants to spend any more time with these pathetic, hand wringing, chin wobbling wretches than they absolutely must? At least if we go somewhere that doesn’t require masks we are more likely to be in the company of sane grown-ups.

Remember, everyone: Vote with your wallet. If you are being asked to wear a mask, don’t give them your money. Find a store that actually needs it.

Those businesses insisiting on masks will go whistle as those people who like to socialise, who like to shop will shun them. Let the Branch Covidians have their own safe spaces to nurse their one glass of wine or Pint over their sensible dinner, with a socially distanced masked friend. sounds a delight doesn;t it? who wouldn’t want to go and have fun in such a place?

I haven’t worn a mask since August 2020 and I don’t plan to start now.
Top marks to Lidl for never hassling me or anyone I know, also no problems with Waitrose although I don’t go there often.

Shame on Aldi & the NHS for harassment in resp. Feb/Mar 2020. Both cases may or may not proceed to court. Aldi deleted the CCTV recording despite my written demand for a copy. The GP surgery doesn’t have CCTV … no need for it in the back of beyond (except in the time of COVID, to prove what happened.)

If we´re not going to ditch masks now then we never will. Considering the lack of strong evidence that masks have no impact on the spread of Covid, why on earth would people want to make it compulsory? We need fucking normality, not permanent mask wearing. I really hope the majority of businesses reject the idea.

So no real changes then. So much for ‘freedom’ day but not completely unexpected. Govt now outsourcing covid monitoring to local business. There will be no real appetite for this long term but if they ramp up the fear factor again as we move into cold and flu season things won’t really move on.

Meanwhile in Florida, Texas, S.Dakota ….

The way this Guidelines thing pans out will depend on public reaction, and the extent to which businesses are prepared to enforce their rules with their own security. If enough people get on a bus or walk into Tesco’s not wearing masks it will be hard for their own security to take any action. There again what action can they take? they can ask you to leave but can they physically throw you out?
At present we have a Government exemption procedure which is grudgingly accepted, will each business, Tesco’s GWR etc. each have to publish their own exemptions policy?

Messy times ahead.

I’ve never worn a mask and used Tesco several times a week, every week during that time. I have only been asked once by a security guard where my mask was and I simply said I was exempt and he waved me through. Where people have got the idea from that shops will refuse you entry or ask you to leave is beyond me and part of the problem where people readily complied I suspect. I’ve never had a problem getting served anywhere. Ditch the f*cking mask now.

That’s right. It isn’t ‘grudgingly accepted’. It’s just accepted.

Nobody ever says anything to me. In shops, in train stations etc. It is very easy to do everything without a mask. I just go about my business and nobody bothers me. My wife does the same. I don’t understand the anxiety about going unmasked this far down the line.

Spineless manouver by the Govt. I doubt there’ll be many, if any restaurants or bars who will admit entrance to humans from 19th July sadly. I may ring up a few bars and restaurants in advance stating my position so they at least know they are losing trade because of it.

Not really as they are not public places. They (like shops) can have their own ‘rules’ but how far they enforce them (and how) is another matter. It is worth pointing out that it is not illegal to go maskless now.

ok cool thanks for clarifying. I will certainly attempt going in with no masks. As a paying customer of extortionate ticket prices and also having to endure horrendously hot environment in the underground I will not make my journey even more uncomfortable than it needs to be.
I expect non-conformity from both the virus sceptic camp as well as the double jabbed camp on wearing them.

It’ll be interesting. One pub in my area is very hot on the rules but because of that it is always empty. The pubs doing well are those that are paying lip service to the rules with several not even bothering to display the QR codes. They are by no means perfect or normal (yet) but at least they know where their bread is buttered.

Will they be requiring hard hats too?

Because the chances of something falling on your head whilst shopping and killing you are much higher than you catching covid from an asymptomatic person and dying from it.

It is a good point though- so many things are more dangerous and likely, but try getting the point across. Last year we had to mask up for a speed boat ride in the North Sea- utter madness and I pointed out that I had more chance of falling overboard and drowning than catching death from a fellow passenger out at sea- but it seemed I was the only person that even gave the matter any thought. Whatever happened to the idea that persons entering premises did so at their own risk?
