A Left-wing pro-Palestine activist who claimed to be black and of Palestinian descent has been revealed as a white Jewish woman from an Israeli settler family. The Telegraph has the story.
Hannah Gann, a teacher at The Workshop School in Philadelphia, had been a local pro-Palestine activist.
She claimed she was sending money to family in the Palestinian territories and a former classmate alleged she used make-up to pretend that she was black.
She was outspoken in her community on the subject and had previously been accused of antisemitism.
Videos online showed Gann’s involvement in local Palestinian activism, including in a session on ‘scholasticide’, the destruction of educational infrastructure, in Gaza.
Gann’s true identity was exposed over the weekend when two local activist groups of which she had been a member released a joint statement claiming she had been lying about her identity and cut ties with her.
“Members met with Hannah and questioned her about her background on Thursday, and after an hour of discussion, Hannah finally admitted she lied,” the Racial Justice Organising Committee (RJOC) and Philly Educators for Palestine (PEFP) wrote on Facebook.
The joint statement said: “We asked her to publicly acknowledge that she is a white woman of Jewish heritage and an Israeli settler family.
“We will no longer work with Hannah, and she will no longer be welcome in any of our organising spaces.
“We recognise the profound harm this has caused; Palestinians whose identity and struggle were appropriated, the Black community, young people, organisers and organisations whose trust and resources were exploited.”
In 2015, Rachel Dolezal, a civil-rights activist, was outed as white by her parents and resigned as president of a branch of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People.

How bigoted of these Left-wing activists not to accept Gann’s self-identification as Palestinian and black. Maybe that was her mistake: if she’d identified as a black Palestinian man they would have been obliged to endorse her fantasies.

I expect, as a self-declared black Palestinian, she figured her job opportunities would be far higher than if she stuck with white Jewess.

Actually this is something that has always baffled me: a remarkably large number of prominent Jews that show antisemitic or anti-Jewish sentiments,
Historically at the moment there are millions of fanatic Muslims who would like to exterminate the Jews. Organizations like Hamas don’t even hide this, they are totally upfront about it. So you would think that no Jewish person would do anything to support these causes.
And yet, we have Hamas supporting Jews, anti Israel Jews, open border advocating and mass migration supporter Jews.
By the way, this is genuine bafflement. I’m neither Jewish nor Muslim; every single Jew I have ever met was a really nice person and we got on very well, not to mention the fact that I have been happily employed by a company privately owned by a (secular) Jew for more than two decades now.
In general Jews seems keener on mass migration into countries other than Israel. Perhaps there is a difference between the Jews living around the world and those in Israel.
Well done for pointing out this fascinating phenomenon. I read years ago that there were training camps in Israel for the Jewish diaspora to practice infiltrating western patriot groups and urge them to violence against Jews, including even waving Nazi flags and practicing Nazi salutes. This was explained as “controlling and manipulating both sides in any conflict” in order to protect Jewish interests.
