Labour’s Borders minister Anna Turley has defended plans to house 1,200 male asylum seekers near a Oxfordshire village of just 400 people, insisting wealthier areas must “play their part” in housing migrants. The Mailhas the story:
She said there needed to be a “fair and equitable system” for distributing asylum seekers across the country.
The Prime Minister said yesterday that he will make sure arrivals are not only placed in the “poorest communities” when quizzed about proposals for a migrant camp near Piddington.
Mr Burnham’s comments sparked Tory warnings of a “vindictive punishment beating to the UK’s middle classes”.
Under Home Office plans, a former military base in Bicester, Oxfordshire, will provide accommodation for 1,250 male asylum seekers.
But the residents of Piddington – a tiny village of around 400 residents near to the proposed site – have voted to stage a symbolic referendum on leaving the UK as part of their protests against the plans.

Ms Turley defended the proposals this morning, telling LBC: “This is about fairness. This is making sure that there is distribution around the country, and this is about a more fair and equitable system that limits the impact on local communities.”
Asked about a potential influx of asylum seekers three times as large as Piddington’s population, the Home Office minister said: “Well, I suppose they’re not going to be in the village. They’re going to be contained in a former military base.”
But pressed on whether asylum seekers would be free to leave the site, Ms Turley replied: “They will be allowed out, but everything they need will be on that site. So they will be managed. They will be contained.” …
Asked if she would be happy for a similar number of people to arrive in her Redcar constituency, Ms Turley said: “We don’t have a former military base… but the reality is it’s about fairness.” …
In another interview with BBC Breakfast, Ms Turley said areas such as Blackpool, where there are lower property prices, had already taken their “fair share” of asylum seekers, which had put a “huge burden” on communities and created “real civil unrest”.

Labours logic is as follows.
Take for example the Plague had hit a specific village in the UK, Labours response would be not to cure the Plague or isolate it, but to give each town or village across the UK its own Plague victim so it would be fair.
Likewise if a particular town had a high number of Pedophiles,(ooh where has that happened I wonder) Instead of dealing with the problem, spreading it around the rest of the Country so we all have a fair share of Pedophiles.

Burnham is simply seeking to appease his own supposed working class base by promising the toffs in posh areas will take some of this migrant burden. He hopes ordinary people will maybe shut up a bit if they think wealthier neighbourhoods are getting something similar dumped on them. —-So more divvying up of migrants (migrant socialism) just like the dispersal that has been already going on where migrants are spread all over the country, and many towns and villages who hardly ever saw an African person before are now seeing them appear out of thin air on a weekly basis.

This announcement, (the real Burnham ‘bounce’?) yet again, amplifies the ‘pull factor’ that makes migrants more and more determined to get to the UK. That means ever more migrant mega boats comming across – and the next step is that we get a number of mega-boats at a time being towed half-way across the Channel by a French fishing boat that the smuggling gang has purchased.
We don’t run out of HMOs. As the middle class are dispossessed of their family properties through taxation, they will be bought by corporates, refitted, and leased back to the govt as HMOs.
Why aren’t they being put in secure camps and kept there? – interment camps if you like – they don’t need to be able to leave the camp / we don’t want them roaming about… if you were stuck in a secure camp with basic provisions, they might think twice about the trip…
but as we know our recent governments of all colours have no balls…
