The incident at the Winterthur railway station unfolded on Thursday morning when a 31 year-old Swiss man wounded three people with a bladed weapon.
Multiple witnesses claimed that the knifeman shouted “Allahu Akbar”, an Arabic phrase meaning God is great, as he unleashed his violent rampage, according to local media.
Footage from the scene showed the alleged knifeman running past a group of terrified young school children as their teacher tried to shield them.

One person was seriously wounded, and two others sustained moderate injuries and were hospitalised, Blick reports. The victims are all Swiss citizens aged 28, 43 and 52.
The motive for the attack is currently unclear, and the police are investigating all possible leads.
One passerby told news outlet Blick: “I heard a man behind me shout ‘Allahu Akbar’ five or six times in a very emotional and agitated manner.”
Images shared by several Swiss media outlets and on social media showed a man with long brown hair, wearing a black T-shirt and grey shorts, being escorted by police following his arrest.

He was probably a maniac, but which religion provides encouragement for such mad devotees to carry out carnage? The problem is Islam with its violent philosophy to non-believers. It needs to grow up from a medieval mindset. Christianity largely overcame its violent divisions several hundred years ago.

I actually do think mental illness will be a factor. No doubt about it. Who does that without being mentally deranged?
The issue is what the mental illness is combined with.
When mixed with strong Islamic faith, it seems to result in this sort of thing sometimes.
We have a screwed up society that is driving people madder every day. I mean, people who seem terrified by climate change are obviously off their nut as well. Genuinely mad. Only that their destructiveness is different. Sometime it’s destruction of property, sometimes it’s some form of disruption. And for those with power, it’s the imposition of crazy policies (unless it’s just sociopathy). But still completely mad.

Is it supposed to be some kind of brave, heroic act to stab random, defenseless people?

Not specific to this article but I’m very pleased to see this Sikh psycho has been found guilty of murder and next the police who handcuffed dying Henry are going to be investigated. You don’t get away with a simple ”Sorry”, I’m afraid;

There was a most compelling tv drama on this very topic raising the ethical question of allowing people of a certain faith to carry an extremely offensive weapon in our society. If it were a firearm would that be OK? My view is that a harmless fake should suffice. That’s not hard. It also transpired in the drama that this religion is far from passive. The finale was most disturbing. Maybe others recall it.
It’s certainly an interesting one. Personally, I’m more for the argument that there should be no religious exemptions, period. Wouldn’t that be the ultimate litmus test for who is capable of assimilating into our culture and who can’t? Basically, take everything Rupert Lowe talks about. Abolish Sharia courts, ban religious slaughter of animals, polygamous marriages, burqas/niqabs and all the other sensible stuff he’s said, then anyone can leave if they don’t like it and see who’s left. I think it’s entirely reasonable to ban these kirpan knives. They wouldn’t be able to get on a plane with them nor be a patient in hospital wearing it, so there’s obviously various scenarios where they would need to be parted with their kirpans and the sky isn’t going to fall in. It is THEM who need to yield to our laws and culture and ultimately integrate, not the other way around. Then carrying a weapon allegedly for self-defence should be the right of everybody, irrespective of religious status, but even pepper spray is banned in the UK. It should be the law of the land applied equally to all demographics with no exceptions.
