Iran Energy Crisis? Just Wait for Net Zero!

If you think the Iran oil crisis is bad, wait till you see Net Zero, says Paul Homewood. In the dystopian future planned for us we’ll have a lot more to worry about than a few weeks of high petrol prices.

Soaring inflation, energy shortages, economic dislocation, stagflation, food shortages, cancelled flights, supply chain shocks, the worst energy crisis since, well, the last one – the list goes on and on. Yes, it's the Iran war I am talking about.

But everything we have seen in the last few weeks is a mere foretaste of what the Net Zero zealots have in store for us.

A third of the world’s oil comes from the Middle East and about a sixth of its gas, enough to cause a market shock if it's suddenly taken away. But a decade ago, the world’s leaders gathered at the UN Climate Change Conference in Paris and pledged to “pursue efforts to limit the temperature increase to 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels”.

The politicians and UN apparatchiks preened themselves in the warm glow that saving the planet brings. But what did their grandstanding mean for mere mortals? According to the UN itself:

To limit global warming to 1.5°C, greenhouse gas emissions must peak before 2025 at the latest and decline 43% by 2030.

Since the Paris Agreement was signed in 2015, far from falling, global carbon dioxide emissions have actually risen by 8% to 35.5 billion tonnes. Meeting the 1.5°C target is said to require cutting emissions to 16.4 billion tonnes within just four years. In other words, 54% lower than now.

The last time global emissions were that low was in 1975. Imagine a world with half as much

Why is this article illustrated by a photo of a dry-bulk carrier, rather than, say, an oil-tanker or a LNG gas carrier ? Odd.

Fewer and fewer people in the UK have any connection with marine operations, technology or merchant navy in general. You are one of the few that spots the difference.
I have been on board 20 or so vessels per year. Not seen a British officer this decade.

The media are not noted for being technically literate. In the legacy media any military vehicle with tracks is a ‘tank’ when most are self-propelled guns or armoured personel carriers.

I guess a drastic reduction in the use of “fossil fuels” doesn’t concern the “elite” Global Eco Extremists since they also intend to implement policies which will lead to a drastic reduction in the population ….. All those “useless eaters” identified by Yuval Harari of the WEF.

The irony is that these far-left hypocrites would be the very first to complain when their standard of living started to decrease. They hardly have a brain cell between them.

Don’t you think those resposible for leading the charge for NetZero will have worked out a way to protect their own standard of living?

I do not think they are that smart. Like the woke in California that do not count air con as energy use!
I had to share space with one on Friday and he really did think windmills could power a 21st century Britain.

No, not all at because they are really stupid no matter what bits of paper they have to show they are intelligent and educated. Militwat has a PPE degree and an ecomonics masters and yet convince me he is not completely stupid. The Net Zero zealots fail to understand if you destroy the economy and drive the population into poverty, then who will shop at amazon, who will buy apple phones, who will use microsoft products, what use will AI be to a destitute population??
