Culture Secretary Nadine Dorries has said that the Government’s disinformation unit is “working”, after suggestions from Labour that the counter disinformation policy was scrapped in the summer. The Telegraph has the story.
“It’s not the case, it’s not true – it is there, it is working,” Nadine Dorries told the Commons in response to a question from Alex Davies-Jones, the Labour MP.
“That work takes place daily, and daily we work to remove content online that is harmful and particularly when it comes to COVID-19, [and] daily we have contact with the online providers.”
A Government spokesman had previously said ministers are “providing people with advice and information about vaccines in one of the most extensive public health campaigns ever launched.”
It’s a relief to hear the Ministry of Truth is fully operational, ensuring that the Government’s public health messages, which are always accurate and honest and never exaggerated or in hock to unions or pressure groups, cannot be questioned or contradicted by citizens, which would naturally cause grave harm to the people, comrades. Orwell would be proud.

This topic – censorship and Big Brother growing ever Bigger – is THE story going forward.
One assumes at some point COVID will pass. However, this move to an Orwellian world will continue and, one presumes, accelerate.
We think we’ve seen mass “harm” already …
Not to get too political, but I would note that it seems to be “liberals” who are the greatest cheerleaders of all this censorship. I’m not liberal, but I always liked the fact that many liberals in the past were pro free speech, anti-censorship, and didn’t seem to trust authority or the pronouncements of government officials. This is where/how the whole “anti-war” movement in the Vietnam War grew so large.
Where did those former activists go? They switched sides as far as I can tell.
I’ve also been struck by the silence of Rock and Roll musicians, who in the past were famous activists. This group also endorses all these totalitarian measures, or, at least, doesn’t criticize any of these trends. There are two exceptions to this: Vann Morrison and Eric Clapton. And what was the consequence for these rock icons speaking out? They were unmercifully attacked and “cancelled” by our New Normal culture.
I also wonder what would John Lennon be saying if he was still alive? Personally, I don’t think he would be singing the praises of Anthony Fauci.

Not sure whether it has been mentioned here yet, but yesterday (5 January) the Italian government under banker Mario Draghi made “vaccination” compulsory for those in the workforce aged 50+. Never mind any democratic niceties. The measure is effective immediately.

Seat belts also happen to “work.” They largely do what they are supposed to do – unlike “vaccines” that do NOT do what they are supposed to do (prevent infection or spread).
In retrospect, society messed up when we allowed seat belt use to be mandated by law. This established a precedent for all the other “mandates” that could be couched in terms of saving lives or preventing injuries.
I maintain that most people would have started wearing seat belts on their own, voluntarily. Said differently, if you abolished all those laws requiring you to wear a seat belt, almost everyone would continue to wear them.
Disagree. Seat belts are demonstrably effective, they have massively reduced injury & death, and I for one, have no problem with the mandatory law – because I’d wear one even if it were illegal. The law got this one right. Ditto, indoor smoking bans.
Seat belts also happen to “work” because (unlike some products…) they are tested thoroughly. And if they fail in use, the manufacturer withdraws every one, replaces them with redesigned ones at their expense, and then gets its hide sued off by the victims.
Seat belts make sense. But the libertarian in me says the government should not be able to comply someone to wear them … or give them tickets if they aren’t wearing them. And I do think most people would be wearing them if they were not mandated by law. Seatbelt usage was already going up when they became mandated.
I wish I had a dime for every time I got into some COVID debate and criticized mandates and had the “seatbelt” argument thrown at me.

BTW, In reading through all the links on Facebook about it “Community Standards,” I learned that this social media employee “More than 15,000” “reviewers” to censor “potentially harmful” or “objectionable” content. These “reviewers” are “protecting” the community.
They are all independent contractors who go through at least 80 hours of training – which is supervised and created by another small army of consultants and managers.
Actually, “artificial intelligence” flags most objectionable posts – before the “reviewers” even have to take a look.

I spent four hours yesterday reading through all the Facebook links about their “Community Standards” and how Facebook “enforces” these standards and “protects” its users from “potentially harmful content.”
This was a chilling four hours. My take-away is that there is an ARMY of “reviewers” (a euphemism for “censors”) that this company employs. But this is just the tip of the iceberg. There are also large battalions of supervisors, trainers and consultants. On top of this, these links are replete to references about Facebook’s “partners” and “vendors” who are also terrified of the “harm” that can be done to their “communities” and they also employ battalions of “wellness” consultants and “reviewers.”

These people and organizations are now EVERYWHERE and they will not stop until only their “authorized” pronouncements reach the public.
