Chris Hopson, the Chief Executive of NHS Providers has sent a warning that the NHS could suffer severe staff shortages this winter if mandatory vaccination for NHS staff comes into effect. Approximately 10% of all NHS workers haven’t received two doses of a Covid vaccine, which encompasses roughly 120,000 members of staff, with Hopson saying that any vaccine mandate should be delayed until April to avoid any serious problems over the next few months. The Telegraph has the story.
Latest NHS figures show that 90% of staff have been double-jabbed. However, about 120,000 workers are not – and at some trusts, including major hospitals in London and Birmingham, uptake is as low as 80%.
Barts Health NHS Trust, Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health Foundation Trust, North Middlesex University Hospital NHS Trust, Barnet, Enfield and Haringey Mental Health NHS Trust and Sandwell and West Birmingham Hospitals NHS Trust all have an uptake of 80% or less, according to NHS figures for the week ending October 14th.
Sajid Javid, the Health Secretary, last week said he is “leaning towards” making jabs compulsory for frontline health workers.
But on Monday Chris Hopson, Chief Executive of NHS Providers, which represents hospitals, said that if the Government was to press ahead, it should delay until April to ensure the NHS can get through the “very, very difficult winter”…
Hopson said around two thirds of NHS leaders backed mandatory jabs, but one third objected.
He told BBC Breakfast: “If we lose very large numbers of unvaccinated staff, particularly over the winter period, then that also constitutes a risk to patient safety and quality of care.
“We know – and the Chief Medical Officer has said this really clearly – that we’ve got a very, very difficult winter coming up and we know the NHS is going to be absolutely at full stretch.
“So it makes sense to set the deadline once that winter period has passed”.

The warning from Chris Hopson should be obvious to the Health Minister, The Savage Jabber, but there again , maybe not?
Of course the elephant in the room is that statistically an adult selected at random from those who have been unvaccinated is much less likely to catch and pass on Covid than an adult selected from those who have been vaccinated (UKHSA figures). If the Health Secretary wishes to increase the transmission of Covid he has got this the right way round.
So, let me get this right Chris…you want me to work all winter to help the NHS then you think it’s ok to sack me in April….my question is this, why the frick would I?

My Trust in Leicester says that 74% of substantive staff are double vaccinated.
This is from their own numbers which they send out on email to all staff every week.
It employs 16,000 staff of which 1/3 are BAME.
Why is my Trust not in the article? According to this propaganda, they would be the lowest in the country… and yet they don’t even feature.
I believe that this shows that all of those numbers are unlikely to be accurate.
I am an unvaccinated Consultant, as is my husband.
We are a definite minority. I believe I am the only unvaccinated Consultant in my department. The other unjabbed staff I know are all in more junior roles. They have almost all already have had covid. None were particularly ill and they have all worked throughout.
I will leave if it becomes mandatory. The National Covid Service is not where I want to work long term.
Oh and our current crisis in my Trust is staffing.
Staff have retired, left and resigned in their droves.
I work in one area which is now staffed by 7-8 clinical staff where there used to be 12. They are on their knees… exhausted, day after day 12.5 hours with a 10 min break and often missing lunch (all unpaid).
More of them resign every week as they can’t stand it.
For the record, we work in a department where we continued regardless through covid as it was not work that could be cancelled.

We have seen it demonstrated by Sweden that NPIs don’t work and that masks and social distancing are plain lies.
Now we can see the inexorably post vaccination rise in ‘cases’ in many highly double-jabbed countries proves that the vaccines are both fucking useless and fucking dangerous.
And today there is the revelation that Ivermectin stops the increase in ‘cases’ dead, from Japan where the drug is now in use by doctors both in hospitals and in GP practices since it’s use was legalised nationally. Even Congressmen and Congresswomen women in the USA are happy to accept prescriptions for ivermectin when they are tested positive for Covid, and a network of MDs across the US are writing prescriptions for ivermectin and it is significantly reducing cases where patients are able to get them filled by amenable pharmacists.
Why are these idiot hypocrites persisting in pursuing policies that WILL NOT WORK?
They will not give up in the madness because to do so would be to admit culpability in crimes against humanity.

Hmm I’m not sure the government want a pragmatic solution from the NHS Providers. I think they are finally looking at the long term NHS funding problem and how to solve it. Although personally I’d err towards forcing people to live healthily and exercise rather than the easy option of burning off the dry tinder!

Our analysis has discovered that over 10 million people are missing from the PHE/ONS analysis and 1,236 deaths that occurred during week 26 are also missing. The vaccination status of this group is unknown. Furthermore, by reverse engineering the estimates from other ONS sources we have discovered that the PHE/ONS mortality report is underestimating the number of vaccinated people, from an approximate total of 39 million, by over 2 million people. Similarly, we believe the ONS may be underestimating the number of single dose vaccinated people by just over four hundred thousand. The trusts with a low jab acceptance are all in areas with a high proportion of BAME among the local population. This proportion demographic is reflected in the staff, as well as patients. It’s also a fact that BAME communities have lower jab rates, for a variety social, cultural and religious reasons.

Many of those people have already had Covid. The rest have their own reasons for not doing so. If you’ve been jabbed, given that we now know vaccinated or unvaccinated can carry the same viral load, you are in as much risk from an unvaccinated NHS staff as from a vaccinated one (I can see continuing to regularly test those who work with immuno suppressed patients like cancer patients to create as safe an environment as possible).
but give that by Whitty’s new call for boosters that even those twice jabbed will soon be considered unvaccinated so they number is sure to grow by April 2022. As Professor Gupta pointed out today, Covid is here for good so, start living life as normally as possible.
This is not completely off-topic, because it impacts on how a “winter crisis” might begin: what actually happens if Boris Johnson throws up his hands and says FLOP26 has been a failure?
It might be a mistake to lean too much on formal logic here, but to be “consistent” wouldn’t he then have to impose a state of emergency more or less straightaway?
My wife will be one of the casualties of this appalling authoritarianism.
She’s worked for the NHS for 20+ years and said she will walk if they force the issue. And like so many others she has also been on the frontline throughout the first year of the pandemic. She also did her best to object to this madness in post. One of her redeployments was to administer the stabs, which she refused to continue doing after two weeks on the grounds she believed patients were not receiving informed consent.
She doesn’t understand, given the level of direct exposure she’s had and the utter futility of the stabs for containing infections why this has become such an acute issue.
The pressure has really got to her and the way it has made her sob in despair sometimes has broken my heart.
It’s going to put us in very difficult financial circumstances but I support her to the hilt as I am equally adamant I neither need nor want the injection either. I suspect once they’ve steamrollered the NHS they will come for education next, which means I’ll be for the high jump too in academia.

If this guy truly believes that sacking thousands of “bad” NHS workers would, other things being equal, help patients, and that NOT sacking them would harm patients, shouldn’t they all be fired BEFORE demand increases? Because otherwise, y’know, not doing it would raise the probability of the much-heralded Winter Overwhelm. If it’s so important to sack the most intelligent and decent among nurses etc., couldn’t soldiers be trained to do their job at short notice if necessary? C’mon, Chris, get yer chequebook out.

Also as a chief executive, has he thought about the effect of telling people “we think you’re antisocial scum fit only for the dole queue, but just hang on in your job until we tell you we’re ready to sack you, OK?”
