PCR Tests for Travel Will Be Scrapped in Time for Half-Term Holidays

by Michael Curzon
15 October 2021 9:43 AM

PCR Covid tests for travel will be scrapped from October 22nd, despite previous reports suggesting they could stay in place at least until the back end of the half-term week. The Telegraph has the story.

Fully vaccinated holidaymakers will instead be allowed to book and use cheaper lateral flow tests when they return to Britain from half-term breaks.

This should reduce the costs from an average of around £60 to £70 for a PCR test to between £20 and £35 for a lateral flow test from an approved provider on the Government’s official website.

As previously with PCR tests, double-vaccinated travellers will be expected to book lateral flow tests in advance, register them on their passenger locator forms and then take them on or before day two of their return to the U.K.

The Department of Health and Social Care has accepted that the test can be done by holidaymakers at home, but the result will have to be verified with the test firm by providing a photograph of the kit with its registration number. [Not by providing a video recording of the testing process, as ministers have at one time considered.] …

Only unvaccinated travellers now have to take a pre-departure test and then quarantine for 10 days on their return and pay for PCR tests on days two and eight of their return. The pre-departure test for double jabbed travellers was ditched on October 4th.

Worth reading in full.

Stop Press: Isabel Oakeshott asks why travellers are being forced to pay for lateral flow tests “when we all have boxes of the damn things at home”?

Why are travellers being made to PAY for lateral flow tests when we all have boxes of the damn things at home? Just another bung to the private sector!

This isn’t progress.
It’s further cementation of the apartheid.

Correct, practically everyone (including the UK Government) now knows and accepts that being double jabbed doesn’t necessarily prevent one from being infected or passing the virus on. Blatant discrimination against the unjabbed both in terms of hassle and cost.

It seems that the double jabbed have double the rate of covid of the unjabbed in the 40s age range!

is it true CDC/FDA are going to state PCR test is not fit purpose (something all the educated already know) – and is this why the LFT is being bigged up before the ‘gold standard’ turns to fools gold?

please correct me if i am wrong

Yes.. a ‘gold standard’ that now Bill Gates and George Soros will be in charge of via their purchase of Mologic, a Covid 19 testing company..

https://newspunch.com/cdc-declares-old-pcr-tests-must-go-after-george-soros-bill-gates-buy-new-covid-testing-company/

Now.. I wonder how many negative test results are on their way for the unvaccinated with these two tossers in charge of testing.. answers on nano particle of graphene please..

goes without saying – purebloods will continue to be punished with PCR tests and quarantine on return home from safe countries. vaxxed or unvaxxed have equal chance of being infected and are equally infectious – bit of a pain in the arse for the clot shot and vax pass pushers…. damn that reality!

“PCR Tests for Travel Will Be Scrapped in Time for Half-Term Holidays”

A false and misleading headline, pretty poor for DS.

PCR tests are not being “scrapped”, they are being reserved to punish and discriminate against those not complying with the regime’s requirements.

That’s what a “Daily Sceptic” headline should highlighting, if it is to be worthy of its claimed title, surely?

I hope you don’t think I’m defending them Mark..

As much as I’m grateful for the platform to comment, I’m under no illusion that there’s true sceptical resistance in the editorial team here. So many of the articles are limp at best and just pure controlled opposition at worst..

I would defend them when I can – I think their position is understandable and broadly beneficial to the resistance, and this place was a beacon before most of the others even existed, certainly long before they achieved any traction. A moderate scepticism (which will never satisfy more committed resisters) above the line with a strong commitment to free speech below the line is arguably a good position.

But as I wrote above, this headline is indefensible.

There should be a line in the intro too: “In a clear attempt to put further pressure on the unvaccinated, the Government…”

Why scrap the money-making with fake PCR tests for the ‘Unvaccinated’? They have not complied and have deprived Pfizer and pals of a few quid – they must be punished!
We all know this is a scam, bugger all to do with a real threat from a ‘Covid virus’, and all to do with the control of people and ripping them off at the same time. Can anyone, by this stage, not see that this is going to rumble on for years?

There seems to be very little information on this site about where all the money is actually going to.

And the scamming continues:

It does make you feel you are being shot by both sides when you see headlines like this together with unchallenged statements that only those who are unvaccinated are required to have a PCR test.

It’s only the unvaccinated, so is that OK Mr Curzon?

I understand that the fragrant La Oakeshott gets around a bit; she probably has to do a fair amount of self testing for infections.

Neither did we fall for any of it which is exactly WHY we have boxes of the damned things. 3 of the people in the home last year were being given boxes of tests by work to ‘self test at home’. The only time they’ve been used was when anyone was ill (so twice) and when we needed a result to go to an event.

Then I’m afraid you’ve fallen for it hook, line and sinker! You should’ve given the tests back to your employers and politely declined, people who were ill should’ve just stayed away from others until they felt better and you should’ve boycotted these events that demanded testing.

On reading some of the smug replies about being clear of ever taking tests – take a reality check with families who have teenagers desperate to get out and go to gigs which will not allow them in without doing a ‘report to the NHS’ LFT – and the kids bring testing boxes home from school- btw doesn’t mean we use them but you need the codes to report the result to get into the gig where your kid screams and dances and sings and is joyous and so reality is families have no choice if they want their kids to live beyond a miserable stuck at home etc. – it’s fucked up and wrong and I am honest with the kids about this but it’s our only way of refusing the toxic jab and still doing stuff.

What are school kids doing at gigs anyway? So the venues check that they’ve faked an LFT but not that they’re over 18?!

Its fine if you’ve decided that it’s best for you and your family to be sheeples but you can’t then also come on here and claim not to be a sheep.

I’v just returned from spain and yesterday got a negative 5 day early release PCR test. Didnt see people dropping in the street over there with blood pissing out there eyes, in fact, like here, everything was quite normal except the mask theatre to remind us all there is an imaginary but profitable emergency on going.

My hosts parents were over arriving a few weeks before me – as vax zellots they were demanding their grand kids got the clot shot (which wont happen) – the grandad (fully vaxxed) had had covid in his first 2 weeks in spain (catching it from a Brit in a golf club) and with additional Drs mccolough and malone info from me they are slowly putting 2 and 2 together and not getting an elephant…

anyways… the over £200 for 4 PCR tests and 1 LFT punishment taxes and 6 days jail time quarantine was inconvenient but well worth the money and time not to get the death shot

looks like skiing will be in sierra nevada southern spain this january – bit shit but better than scotland’s heather skiing

Finland introduced the Vaxx pass for domestic use today.

The PCR testing is in a bigger shambles than before in Berkshire and Wolverhampton due to people testing negative despite multiple positive LFT both before and after a PCR. Of course this has caused panic about false negatives, but they shrugged off concerns about false positives.

My suspicion is that this lab was probably only ‘guilty’ of using a lower, but more realistic, cycle rate than the instructions told them to use. Perhaps someone with a knowledgeable insight into the mechanisms of PCR – and possibly with a conscience – was managing the procedures there.

So, if I’m reading this correctly, unvaxxed travellers who test negative on day 2 and 8 still have to isolate for a further 2 days as nothing but punishment for not being vaxxed. It can’t be for anyones protection as you can’t spread what you don’t have. Why aren’t more ‘voices’ raising this issue?

You send the test off on Day 8 – the Post Office takes a week to deliver it. You can wait for the result, or decide by Day 10 you’ve had enough and out you go. Not sure what Serco (Trap & Trace) will have to say about it though.
How nice having Serco run their very own private police force with their band of Mitie marshalls. An American company telling Brits what to do in their own country.

Came back from Paris Tuesday, was visited by NHS test and trace Covid police Wednesday at 13h, calling me by my first name sounding as spam, and suspicious looking around the building for 15 minutes entering various gates. I video the whole scene when he finally reached me. So passe sanitaire in France makes life very difficult and a differential treatment everywhere I go, coercion is strong to get vaccinated, double, triple, etc…

Why are the British still spraying the handles of their shopping trolleys? Why are they still wearing face masks?
The thing is, people keep saying they ‘got Covid’ and until people stop claiming this, the charade will go on forever. Well, we keep hearing people claim they lost their sense of taste and smell, so if Covid really does exist, then we’ll be here for a very long time taking an endless serious of boosters, or travelling in misery with endless, expensive tests and quarantines required.

I bet if all people who tested ‘positive’ had to go to a firing squad (effective way of dealing with Covid!) suddenly everyone would stop testing voluntarily and Covid would just vanish!

How much does Javid charge for someone to become an ‘approved provider’?

Just get yourself down to Boots, grab all the free Made-in-China plastic crap LFT kits, and flog them on for £35 each!

Obviously the ‘vaccines’ work well…. not just double-jabbed at huge risk to your life, but then also forced to part with more of your money to mates of the Government…

Isabel is absolutely correct, we have NHS branded lateral flow test kits, so are the government saying these are no good or is it just another example of our government being “in bed” with the pharma companies to ensure they continue getting their income from covid. Like many other government projects, such as the completely failed test and trace, this stinks of corruption. How can we ever trust the Tories again? I certainly can’t and won’t.

I recently flew from London to Athens, had to take a LFT as unvax , and was pushed aside to be tested again on arrival at Athens airport.I happened to overhear two people on the flight, who knew they had covid, but were able to fly as no test is required for the vaxxed.
Who knows if they did infect others.. i bet they did.
As everywhere, Greece is full of vaxxed people sick with Covid but as long as they are not with heavy visible symptoms and even so, they can enter everywhere and get on flights . So, they can fly to UK despite having Covid and mock the DAY 2 lft.
Why is nobody raising this obvious risk ?
