Covid Cases Fall After Schools Reopen In Spite of Widespread Predictions to the Contrary

by Toby Young
25 September 2021 11:22 AM

Covid infections have plummeted despite fears that the new school term would fuel an autumn surge, according to the latest ONS data. The Daily Mail has more.

One in 90 people in England had the virus last week, with around 620,100 infected in total, testing by the Office for National Statistics revealed.

This is down 18% from a fortnight earlier, when one in 70 tested positive and estimated total infections stood at 754,000.

The weekly ONS survey, based on random swab testing of 150,000 people, is seen by the Government as the most reliable measure of the epidemic.

In a further boost for hopes that the pandemic may be over, Government scientists said the R rate – the average number infected by someone with the virus – may have dropped below one for the first time since March. R is between 0.8 and 1 in England, meaning the epidemic is shrinking.

ONS study leader Kara Steel said: ‘Infection levels have decreased in England for the first time in several weeks, though rates remain generally high across the UK.

‘It’s encouraging that infection rates have continued to decrease among young adults, possibly reflecting the impact of the vaccination programme.’

Infections are highest in secondary schoolchildren, with around one in 35 testing positive, reflecting the fact that many in this age group are yet to be jabbed. But the ONS report shows cases have decreased or remained flat in every other age group.

Worth reading in full.

“One in 90 people in England had the virus last week”

No they didn’t.

“ONS study leader Kara Steel said: ‘Infection levels have decreased in England for the first time in several weeks, though rates remain generally high across the UK.”

It’s a great shame that the ONS has got into publishing such garbage, conflating test results with ‘infection’.

Indeed it is a shame. Previously a rare and reliable source of relatively trustworthy data, though we always had to do a bit of work, has apparently been co-opted into skewing that information to suit a political narrative.

Better to clot shot them all just in case – stay safe…

Re-posting Nick’s post from the ‘swamp’ comments section, takes a straight thinking/talking Geordie to work out whats going on – indeed an excellent watch…

Natural immunity being built fastest among secondary schoolchildren, none of whom are at risk

Fixed that for them.

Every prediction that the ‘experts’ have made that has actually been tested has been shown to be not only wildly inaccurate but always on the pessimistic side as well.

Tine to give these ‘experts’ their P45’s

Well loved public scientist and popular intellectual Johny Van Tam is giving the Royal Institution lecture this Xmas so a knighthood seems appropriate for such a National Treasure.

Makes up for the shortage of ‘pigs in blankets’ that has been predicted since August.

Van Tam the Boston United fan who orders sportsmen to get “vaccinated” – and never mind that a 17 year old died after collapsing during a youth cup match involving Boston United, at a time when 17 year olds were being given these “vaccines” and 50% had already had them; and that healthy young people are not at risk from “Covid”.. I wonder if he bothered to find out if this young man had had a “vaccine”?

He wouldn’t care. It’s collateral damage so far as he is concerned, in a greater scheme.

What an insult that would be for genuinely deserving holders of the award, like the late great Sir James Saville. He’ll surely be spinning in his grave at the thought of being associated with that shower!

Modern defensive bureaucracy. It’s a bit like the Met Office. They don’t say things like “don’t worry, it’s not going to happen here” any more! Spot which way weather forecast errors go these days, on the whole.

Probably because kids got it during the summer holidays. My kids got it during that time. By the way, calpol sorted it out.

At my school (teacher) nearly everyone got it before we broke up for the summer, me included. I’ll be shocked if parent still choose for their kids to be jabbed. Which of course they will.

About six months into lockdown I saw an interview with a well known and respected American; I can’t remember who it was, a media intellectual in the mould of Chris Hitchens.
During that part of the interview concerning Covid he said something like

‘Well things might be improving at the moment but these things always take about 18 months so don’t yall relax just yet, it’s gonna come back again before it goes away”.

I remember agreeing with those sentiments at the time and it looks as though he may have been right.

It came spring 2020, it died down for a bit (when that interview was made) and, as predicted here at LS, it came back again in time for Tiers and cancelled Xmas, all exaggerated with fake Govt statistics of course, lurked around for most of this year but realising that the public has had enough it is now fading away under a torrent of fake disasters from Pigs in Blankets outages, collapsing gas infrastructure and whatever else they can think of to divert our attention.

Strange there’s never a mention that, with all this coming and going, ”wave” after ”wave” after ”wave”, and tens of thousands ”infected” every day, that we’re probably ALL immune by now.

That’s another not-worth-a-read. Detected infections highest in age group being force-tested! Oh, the news! No exponential surge of deaths & illness in the last four week when all those infected were silently among us! But that we don’t report! They must now all be vaccinated as it’s guaranteed to be useless for them! But it might kill some! Rejoice!

Yes. The Sun had a leader advocating child “vaccines”. They hold moral responsibility now for injuries and deaths.
Journalists as here who parrot claptrap without questioning or balancing also hold responsibility from now on.
Has a single legacy media branch come out against child assault by needle?

A constant oversight is you don’t have to get this virus to be immune from it – as per T cell immunity and Vit D studies show – millions of people in Asia and Oceania have immunity from
prior corona viruses exposure – and this applies here as well – probable fewer due to diet and fewer circulating other corona viruses – but a good many people – quoting govt stats and drawing glib conclusions is like lie upon lie – and ignoring the utter devastation thus jab is causing

They are “selective with the truth”, to use the traditional phrase. Some of the truth, not all of it, and a few lies as well, wouldn’t go down well in court.

The only true lesson from this pandemic is that “scientists” are unable to predict what happens two weeks ahead, much less months or years. This lesson should be also applied to other dire scientific predictions.

“Infections are highest in secondary schoolchildren, with around one in 35 testing positive, reflecting the fact that many in this age group are yet to be jabbed.”

I would suggest this reflects the fact that secondary schoolchildren are able to achieve positive tests at will (orange juice, cola etc) and are enjoying yet more time off school.

Just a quick comment about the photo accompanying this article. The level of conformity among these kids makes me feel particularly worried for their futures. If it’s deemed “cool” to get the so-called vaccine, just as it is for girls to have long straight hair these days, or carry a rucksack, how many are going to buck this trend and go along with their parents’ wishes for them not to be vaccines? When I was at school I really valued my difference from other kids. I think that peer pressure and conformity has never been so strong as it is now, and that really worries me.

One in 90 people in England had the virus last week

As others have said, this is BS – “positive” tests do not equal “infections”.

I believe there was an official claim I saw elsewhere too, that less testing was being done now?

I simply don’t believe that either – if my local area is typical, then a large (seemingly permanent) test site that has been there from the start, has had noticeably more cars going in and out.

Also a “pop-up” one has appeared for at least the last seven days in a town centre car-park. For most of the time previously during this shit-show it would only appear around once or twice a week at most, in that location.

I have also noticed that a collection point for the DIY tests into those “post” boxes seems rather busy – these are the boxes that were criticised a while ago for having tests overflowing onto the ground when they were not being emptied enough. I have seen a fair few cars going in and out, and several times I have passed by I have seen people depositing tests into those boxes.

Perhaps all these people have been “pinged” to take a test, or are required, for some reason, to take more regular tests?

A cynic might think that the “powers that be” are desperate to find more “infections” than they have done for some reason…

The mentality of people who will obey the ”pings” or who will just shamble along out of idle curiosity must really be very feeble. Even if they’re ”required” to take regular ”tests”, what a pity more don’t just say ”bugger off”.

Much of the debate is around UK Covid policy but it has been a global malaise. Panic panic panic and blind faith in idiotic lockdowns that don’t even work. If only we could bottle Anders Tegnell’s wisdom, convert it into a vaccine and inject the rears of world leaders and their scientific advisers close to where their brains have relocated.

Oh yeah!!!!! Since when did these jabs inhibit infection? C’mon TY, that is just complete rubbish or have I missed the recent announcement that mRNA jabs DO prevent infection after all?

Good news bad news. Kids are fine but they are now going to inject them anyway despite the fact that they are at extremely low risk. Also in the U.K., Israel, USA cases skyrocketing in the vaxxed. It will be a long winter once all the kiddies are jabbed.

”Infections” my foot.
Obsessive testing of healthy people (many stupid enough to volunteer) with a test that can’t detect ”infection” anyway and gives mostly false positives.
Very precise – not. So why are these figures always presented as being definitive?

Infections highest in school kids probably because they have yet to be jabbed. What utter tosh but no doubt Joe public will hang on every word uttered. You can be jabbed or unjabbed and test positive and be infectious or infectious. Jesus christ, we will never get out of this utter madness when you have such crap being written and spouted
