A Government scientific adviser says that the European Championship finals can go ahead safely following results from 10 trial events which identified only 28 positive Covid test results among 58,000 participants. The Telegraph has the story.
Between mid-April and mid-May, the Government allowed a number of large gatherings to take place, including the World Snooker Championships, the Brits, the F.A. Cup Final, a 5k fun run and a club night in Liverpool.
Participants had to test negative to be allowed in, and were asked to take a second test after the event to see if they had caught Covid there.
Results published on Friday show that there were no major outbreaks caused by any of the events and just 28 people tested positive in the days that followed.
Asked whether it was safe to allow 60,000 people to meet for the European Championship final, Professor Tom Rodden, a Chief Scientific Adviser in the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport, said: “Certainly, those events can go on safely.”
The Events Research Programme was commissioned by the Prime Minister in February 2021 as part of the roadmap out of lockdown, and was designed to explore how reopening of events can be conducted safely whilst limiting the transmission of the virus.
The report found that prevalence within events was no different to that in the wider community, which they said was “reassuring”…
Experts said it was important that people were allowed back to mass events because it was important for mental health and social cohesion.
Professor Iain Buchan, the Chair of Public Health and Clinical Informatics at the University of Liverpool, said: “This is a really important social phenomenon, and the World Health Organisation’s founding principle was health as a complete state of physical, mental and social wellbeing, not merely the absence of disease or infirmity, or the absence of a virus.
“We have to consider society in the round.”
Oliver Dowden, the Culture Secretary, added: “The findings and learnings will help event organisers plan for large audiences as we move to step four of the roadmap.”

A few scientists on twitter are saying this is an antibody dependent enhancement signal. If so, 100% the fault of the vaccine.
As I have stated here before, the Sinovac vaccine (no “” as in this case it actually IS a vaccine) is the most likely one to cause ADE, as it uses inactivated virus, which has failed every time it has been attempted for coronaviruses.

Now, can we also get an admission that the whole thing was a complete, utter, dangerous, inhumane waste of time, life, money etc.? As in, this was never a health emergency, and certainly never a health emergency deserving of “temporarily” abandoning all our values?
They (govt, i.e. Botchit, Hancockup, Whitless, Vain, SAGE, etc.) will NEVER admit to failure. They will ALWAYS claim the lockdowns and vaccines were a success and THE agents of controlling the virus, despite the evidence showing otherwise. They will claim that masks prevent spread despite new scientific learning that it’s airborne, meaning masks are wholly ineffective. They will claim the vaccines were necessary despite there being established, tested, safe, cheap and EFFECTIVE medicines, that if they were acknowledged, would make the vaccines illegal (it’s all about the ££££). They live in their own fanatical bubble, where they believe belief/hearsay based policy trumps actual data and true scientific & medical expertise, and their ‘rules’ don’t apply to themselves.

The ‘Delta variant’ compared to the ‘Alpha variant’ is 10 times less lethal and affects most the fully vaccinated. Out of all cases some 40% were vaccinated. It’s horrible but true, that 1 out of 147 fully vaccinated and infected will pass, compared to 1 out of 1.100 in the ‘unvaccinated group’. Just do the math. The ‘delta’ variant is less lethal, vaccinated are 7 times most vulnerable in the age group of 0-50, vaccinated do get covid, do get hospitalized and do pass away. In fact the delta variant seems to be the ideal herd immunity scorer.
How about a test event where people don’t need to show proof of a negative test or vaccination to attend, and don’t need to wear a face nappy.
Wait a minute, there have been plenty of these, e.g. sports events in Florida and Texas, BLM protests last year, the Sarah Everard vigil, anti lockdown protests etc.

My thoughts exactly. Anyone thinking this is good news is wrong – these test events have essentially just been used to the false paradox that you need to get tested before and after you attend an event! We will be stuck with these restrictions forever.

“A negative test to go in, and another afterwards to see if they caught it there”! Hmm, how’s that going to work then? I wouldn’t be surprised if the majority of those 28 ‘cases’ were false positives. Also, where’s the control in the ‘experiment’? And who’s to say they didn’t catch it after the event, elsewhere, or were the ‘after’ tests on leaving the event? I’m not surprised at the results though, as the mix of events, people and venues strike me as favouring the younger and so those vastly less susceptible.
If everyone at the event had tested negative, how did 28 test positive when they came out? Or was the 2nd test done a few days after the event, in which case it is meaningless
And once the Euros are over they will use the influx of fans to the capital as the catalyst for another case-demic and lock us all down again.
Look out for the capital variant at the end of july……….
