Boris Announces Extension of Lockdown by Four “Crucial Weeks” – Noting “Possibility” That a “Far More Dangerous” New Variant Could Cause Further Delays After July 19th

Boris Johnson has extended lockdown by four weeks to vaccinate more Brits and prevent "thousands more deaths". He says July 19th will be a "terminus date", but notes that a "new variant" could warrant further delays.

2 min read

Boris Johnson has announced that lockdown will be extended until July 19th. At a Downing Street briefing, the Prime Minister said that four more “crucial weeks” of restrictions were needed to prevent the virus from “outrunning” the vaccine and to prevent “thousands more deaths that could otherwise have been avoided”.

The PM hopes that “easing off the accelerator” will allow enough time for two-thirds of the adult population to be fully vaccinated against Covid, but warned that “a proportion of the elderly and vulnerable may still succumb [to the virus] even if they have had two jabs”.

Weddings and wakes with over 30 guests will be permitted after June 21st, so long as social distancing guidelines are followed, and there is a possibility that restrictions could end after a two-week extension on July 5th. The chances of this are, however, very slim. Boris said:

[We must] wait another four weeks – or maybe as little as two weeks. But let’s be realistic, [it’s] probably more likely [to be] four weeks.

Whereas June 21st was a “not-before date”, the PM is “pretty confident that July 19th will be, as it were, a terminus date”. That is unless yet another “new variant” emerges.

At that stage [when, by July 19th, the vaccine roll-out has created a “wall of immunity”]… I am confident that we will be able to go forward with the full… opening. That, of course, doesn’t exclude the possibility… that there is some new variant that is far more dangerous – that kills people in a way that we currently cannot foresee or understand. That’s obviously the case.

As before, Boris maintains that the roadmap to freedom should be “cautious” but “irreversible”. You can watch the full briefing here.

Stop Press: Sam Coates of Sky News says that “Labour will back the four-week delay to lockdown lifting step four”.

They will characterise it as a consequence of Boris Johnson’s mishandling and criticise [the] lack of economic support.

Stop Press 2: According to YouGov, 71% of English adults support the unlocking delay.

Stop Press 3: GB News has reported on the lockdown protesters marching outside Downing Street today.

The people are really angry. “Enough is enough” was the message that [came] from there – people wanting to just have the choice now to get out there and live their lives again.

Anyone who thought that these nonsensical restrictions would be lifted on 21 June is either extremely naive or incredibly thick. Unfortunately, those two adjectives apply to most of the population judging by their supine acceptance of the erosion of freedom of choice and freedom of speech.

It is evident to anyone that can think for themselves that this government supported by Twitty, Unbalanced and Stalin’s nanny have no intention of returning the country to a liberal democracy.

Oh and, spotted this recently, it sums this insanity up very nicely. Says a lot about society today when all these things can be foisted on us with little or NO pushback.

Well apparently at least 71% of the population wants to continue with imprisonment!WTF?
Is there something wrong with me and us sceptics? I’m really getting concerned now.
HomoBovinus, HomoGallusgallus domesticus, et al. They are clucking mooing and bleating happily in all of this. Tragically they are the majority. Generally speaking, Mr & Mrs. average.
On average are the double-digit class (IQ). By their very nature they follow, hence the allusion to ‘bovine and cluckers’ (I think I spelled that right). They do not fall into the Mr & Mrs. above average category.
Dictators and tyrants have known this throughout history. Mr & Mrs. above average will obviously always be in the minority, therefore easily kept quiet while the flockers, cluckers, and cattle follow meekly and blindly to the gates of the slaughterhouse. Mooing, clucking, and bleating in a satisfied and contented manner. Completely oblivious to what is going on or where they are headed.
God (I’m agnostic) help us all and most of all our grandchildren and all small children everywhere who will believe this is how we have to live..

I would like to know how the question to determine people supporting the delay. Was it on the lines of “Would you support extending lockdown if it means saving thousands of lives?” That would explain the figures. I don’t trust YouGov any more than I trust the government.

That question is too nuanced. They’re more likely to ask, “Do you support an extension to lockdown or the gang rape of your granny?”

“Weddings and wakes with over 30 guests will be permitted after June 21st, so long as social distancing guidelines are followed”
Really?
And what about G7 summits?
What guidelines/laws did they follow?

Hypocritical, double-standards pieces of excrement

To actually announce this extension directly after G7 goes way beyond hypocrisy and into the realms of contempt and other words that haven’t even been invented to describe it yet.

I think YouGov subscribers are biased and the questions are biased to produce a certain outcome. I used to do their surveys, as someone on LS recommended we do them to give a LS view but then i got so fed up with the questions I stopped.

They’ve no intention of a Freedom Day date, because permanent control is the goal. And if 71% of people are still apparently gladly accepting further lockdown, according to a poll, then they deserve the totalitarian existence that is well underway thanks to their meek compliance. The problem is that they are taking us down with them.

It’s not hard to sign up to the YouGov app and fill in the daily survey about Covid. If we all did it we might shift the narrative a bit. There isn’t much of practical use we can do but this is one thing we could all do with minimal inconvenience to ourselves. This is what’s so annoying – YouGov is entirely self selecting yet it’s leading the government by the nose.

In respect of the persisting lockdown: I will follow the science, but unlike the many of the politicians who are making the decisions on liberty I did not spend my former years studying humanities, law or other arts degrees; a seeming prerequisite for political power, and have come to different conclusions as to what the data indicates.. To understand science you first need to understand that there is no absolute. To understand medicine you have to understand that every patient is their own unique biological experiment . The lack of seasonal flu this winter has demonstrated that if you isolate society it will not spread infection- well Boris welcome to the germ theory!
However we will all die and the Government cannot stop that; but it can prevent us from living. But no longer.!For me no masks. no social distancing . I will follow the science not the fear!

GB News says people were really angry at the protest… from the clip they show, they don’t look angry at all, just milling around and having a good time. Looks like the ‘protests’ have been allowed anyway, because the government haven’t stopped the trains from running in an effort to stop protesters from arriving in London.
People should be FURIOUS at the lies and the handing out of huge contracts, using public money, to their mates. Anyone seen Dido Harding in Lidl hunting through the offers, trying to save her pennies?
If any of these protests were to get ‘out of hand’ then they’d just send in a few soldiers to shoot a few protesters and the rest will scuttle off back to the nearest Tube station.
I don’t think people realise how serious this situation is. With computer systems controlling us down to the minutest detail, even to what items we bought in the supermarket, and an army of ‘watchers’ of our text-messages and e-mails and comments on-line, there will never be another chance to get ‘the old normal’ back.
The ‘digital platform/ID’ and ‘social credit score’ is pretty much in place anyway – perhaps the next “4 weeks”… Read more »

Are folk really going to comply. Are they really so stupid they cannot see the agenda. Do they not understand that their way of life and their whole future is being taken from them.

So many of us knew this was coming down the road when the politicians agreed to a three week lockdown. How can so many educated commentators, journalists and politicians be so wantonly blind as not to understand what us, the workers and taxpayer were telling them. We had no one, NO ONE, in the ‘establishment’ stand for truth and honesty. It may now be too late to avoid the violence, the death and the destruction, that we all wanted to avoid by using debate and discussion.

I for one am so proud my children chose not to go to university or join the ranks of the sycophants. I for one am proud my children are not sending their children to nursery or child minders from the age of 18months. I am so proud that the most sensible, moral and patriotic of us are still within the working classes and small business communities of my England an my UK.

The working classes always have been the most moral and patriotic people. They are the very backbone of this country. The love of money is the root of all evil and it has, unfortunately overtaken us.

It just goes to show how effective propaganda can be. Over 70% of the population surveyed by YouGov support lockdowns and Bozo believes his own lies. What a surprise NOT.
YouGov panels are overwhelmingly left wing, a goodly number of who are being paid their full salary by their state employers to ‘work from home’ on full salary. What’s not to like?

UK population 68 million

– for that we destroy the economy for another 4 weeks

I think there are more of us than you realise. It’s just too many are now so terrified they just do not know which way to turn. We must also understand that the old communist trick of paying people to stay at home creates a real lack of desire to get up and work. The act of travelling to work is still relatively new in terms of society. It started with the Victorians and the Industrial Revolution. Given the choice most people would prefer working close to home.

This country has been living in real psychological fear for nearly 40 years. The day we joined the EEC and were subjected to socialist laws, regulation and growing bureaucracy, all of which were alien to our way of life. Government was never involved in our choice of schools, our choice what we ate or how we looked after each other. The insidious creep of socialism and bureaucracy comes from France and Germany. The British were too naive to realise their politicians were no longer serving them, but instead serving a foreign power

So many reasons to be depressed today by these latest cunty actions and cowardly words.

Vallance: “If we didn’t have the vaccinations we’ve got, we would be looking at what lockdowns would be needed” – Yes of course you would you fucking moron, because you’ve learnt nothing from within your own country about their ineffectiveness and the harm they cause and you’ve learnt fuck all from around the world and the different approaches taken.

Johnson: “The objective of this short delay is to use these crucial weeks to save thousands of lives, of lives that would otherwise be lost.” – Stop pretending it’s about saving lives you lying grandstanding cunt. The only thing you care about is arse-covering and protecting yourself against any future inquiries. You show no care at all for the vast majority of people’s lives in this country otherwise we wouldn’t even be under restrictions for you to extend. Sort out a proper health service you vacillating, spineless, blob of piss-haired cuntflappery and stop lying about saving lives.

YouGov: “A YouGov snap poll found that 71pc of English adults back a proposed delay to the June 21 lockdown end, including 41pc who said they would “strongly” support… Read more »

I will be there – with friends and acquaintences – most of whom have had the vaccine twice and were expecting to regain their freedoms in return for accepting the jab offer and have now thoroughly had enough of this whole treacherous fiasco.

Hope you can all join us too if possible … if people want a return to normality then we must take a stand against this insanity and say no to these monsters who will torment us without end.
