There follows the text of an article by Joseph C. Sternberg that appeared in the Wall Street Journal yesterday on why Boris is dragging his feet over reopening Britain in spite of the success of our vaccine rollout. We think it’s so good we are reproducing it in full.
The UK has delivered at least one dose of Covid vaccine to more than 47% of its total population. This means that well over half of all adults, and the vast majority of the most vulnerable elderly, have received a sufficient level of inoculation to reduce serious illness, death, and probably transmission dramatically for the several months it will take to deliver second doses. Rates of hospitalisation and fatality tumble by the day.
So why on earth is Boris Johnson slow-rolling the country’s emergence from lockdown?
The exit plan from the current-third-lockdown began March 8th, when schools reopened, and won’t be complete until late June. Sorry, make that “until late June at the earliest”, appending Mr Johnson’s favourite three words. Nonessential retail, beer gardens and gyms won’t reopen until next week, restaurants not until May, and no one can say when draconian restrictions on international travel will be eased.
Precisely because the medical news in Britain is so cheerful, its difficulties escaping lockdown serve as a cautionary tale for everyone else. The task, it would appear, no longer is to suppress the virus or meter hospital demand or save lives or anything health-related. The task is to manage the dangerous interactions between a fearful political class and an overweening medical class.
That’s the vice in which Britain now finds itself. As fearful politicians go, few are more so than Mr Johnson. Yes, that Mr Johnson. Americans who remember his buccaneering spirit surrounding Brexit might be surprised at how his encounter with Covid – as a political leader and as a patient this time last year – has changed him.
The personal angle is best left to the readers’ own guesses, but the political transformation is easy enough to understand. Mr Johnson was elected in December 2019 with an enormous mandate to get Brexit done, and for not much of anything else. The pandemic daily exposes the extent to which a coalition among libertarian, Christian-democratic and working-class Conservatives is in danger of fracturing whenever anything other than Brexit is on the table. At the moment the civil libertarians are the dissenters, but the easing of lockdown will merely raise new policy questions over which other bits of his party can rebel.
Mr Johnson has found the only thing that can keep these cats in a vaguely herded state is success. Well, yes. In politics, nothing succeeds like success. But adopting that as a governing strategy leaves little scope for occasional fumbles along the way.
Before the vaccination programme succeeded beyond anyone’s wildest imagination, Mr Johnson’s Government was under near-mortal threat from its perceived failure to contain the pandemic’s winter wave with more-aggressive lockdowns in the autumn. Mr Johnson can’t afford to be bold in reopening for fear that some unforeseen error, or an unpredictable spike in infections, or some other disaster will lead to a political; collapse of some sort.
Which brings us to the other jaw of the vice: an overweening public-health class.
The things these medical experts say become more outlandish by the day. Chief Medical Officer Chris Whitty, for example, is now warning that even with widespread vaccination the UK may need to brace for future lockdowns. Imperial College modellers project that – again, even with widespread vaccination – Britain could see a third wave of the virus leading to as much hospitalisation and death as the rest of Europe currently is experiencing.
Setting aside the scientific questions about all this, such pronouncements represent a bold tendency by public-health professionals to adopt maximalist aims regarding the virus and then impose politically impossible conditions – to wit, to deny the public its freedom even after delivering the vaccinations that were supposed to unlock the economy. A braver politician would sideline these folks. Alas, that’s not what that UK has.
Britain in some ways is uniquely ill-suited to navigate an exit from its lockdown. Before the pandemic it lacked a viable opposition party, since Mr Johnson had decimated his Labour opponents in a recent election. Unlike federal states such as the US or Germany, Britain lacks many competing power centres to experiment with local reopening; those it does have, in Scotland and Wales, tend toward the authoritarian. British culture is infused with a heavier dose of safetyism than it generally wishes to admit.
Yet similarities to the UK lockdown plight show up everywhere – in Joe Biden’s deference to discredited public-health authorities, in Angela Merkel’s chronic safetyism in Germany, in Emmanuel Macron’s desperate bid to hold together an electoral coalition untied only by his own past political success. The point is that the next steps out of lockdown will require conquering not the virus, but our political class’s many and varied neuroses.

It will be interesting to see if the rules re funerals change before the Duke of Edinburghs is held. Can we really see them sticking to the 30 mourners only rule?
They need to get that guy in to police the funeral, remember the one on that video who stopped the son of the deceased from comforting his mum with a hug?
Meanwhile today outside Buckingham Palace I hear that the press are not social distancing, except on camera of course.
I heard a talk radio producer say on camera earlier the police are telling people in groups to put their masks on. TSG will be out OAP hunting with batons soon no doubt.
Put their masks on. A badge of servitude, nothing more. How bloody evil.
This is NOT about a virus.
Have people forgotten all they need to do is say they are ‘Exempt’!
“Can we really see them sticking to the 30 mourners only rule?”
I f.ing hope so. My mouth has only just closed after the jaw-dropping Diana thing.
But the failure to find a Phil the Greek -free station on the radio at 12:00 fills me with foreboding as the German shape-shifting family ate up the airwaves.
Little dignity or truthfulness in it – and I offer Brenda as a person my empathy – but I see this death of an older fart than even me as being used as yet anther bit of wall-space for whipping a compliant population into line.
Sorry – but this diversion from the real tragedy needs comprehensive ignoring as a public service.
The irony is that he is of the generation that just got on with things. He would have been horrified at the wall to wall coverage of his death. Classic FM apart from the news bulletins was a peaceful retreat from the MSM’s odious OTT output.
I agree The Duke was a terrific bloke, one of the old school and of course totally non PC which was always so refreshing. He would I think, have been horrified at all the fuss and of the MSM knocking 7 shades out of it.
They’re asking for the public to stay away. No state funeral or lying in wait.
Military style funeral requested apparently.
Who is asking, Johnsons Junta or the Family? Many people liked Prince Philip, I know I did. There is no Pandemic, so the Covid nonsense must be stopped.
Yes, and so the more crowds out breaking all the tiresome, pointless and ridiculous rules the better as far as I’m concerned.
Has Lockdown Sceptics been hoisted by its own petard? They’ve seen the vaccines as the way out of this mess because they’ve taken the government’s word at face value. But this is a much more devious scheme that’s been devised by powers that run our government from behind the scenes.
The lockdowns were illegitimate because asymptomatic spread was a lie. The vaccines will create asymptomatic spread and the tyranny will continue indefinitely. The vaccines only stop the systemic infection from the virus (the serious Covid-19 that causes organ failure). They don’t prevent transmission in the nose and throat.
So asymptomatic spread was a fiction until the government made it a reality.
We’re not getting out of this mess until we make it stop by force of arms or until we go off-grid and start a new society.
I certainly think that there’s far far too much acceptance of the idea that vaccinations are a valid route out of this.
Let me be very clear: There should be no need for any ‘route’ out of lockdown, the very imposition of them is immoral, improper and outrageous.
There is not one place on Earth – despite wildly varying levels of non-pharmaceutical measures – that has come even close to the levels of death accepted under out pre-pandemic preparedness plan (375,000 in the UK) under which the stated aims were to continue living as normally as possible (because reacting wildly has side effects which will cause damage.) This was recieved wisdom until last January. Nothing has changed.
This being the case, nowhere should have locked down. And the route out of lockdown is not vaccination, my freedom is not conditional on enough people taking up experimental medical treatment, it is quite simply to end lockdown.
Hypothecially is there a disease which would merit this sort of repression? I’d argue not: it’s not actually necessary. People manage their own risk well enough – if there was an airborne ebola with 50% death rate I’d be quite happy in my own home without the government telling me to, thanks.
Thank you for your informed comment. I had almost given up on this site because increasingly it looked like no more than controlled opposition.
The fairest thing we can say about that is that Ferguson and his Doom Priests at ICL were screeching about half a million deaths by summer 2020.
However, it became abundantly and almost immediately clear that ICL’s models are a junk outlier that deserve nothing but scorn and derision for crying coronawolf over and over.
You can never be too sure
I’m going to carry a cattle prod in case I come across a masker suffering from an asymptomatic heart attack.
I agree with much of your post but I must challenge the idea that vaccinated people will become “asymptomatic transmitters”. It is unlikely, because an immune host will prevent high levels of virus replication (& that is arguably a precursor to becoming a good source of infection).
Dear Mike, I am a great fan of yours but at the same time I am 80 years old and do not understand everything. Could it be that this is exactly what will be blamed in the case of further infections. The majority of the population don’t seem to question anything. God be with you, keep at it.
I read somewhere that the contract for the AZ jab stipulates that they will supply to the Government at cost price up until the pandemic is declared over and AZ decide when the pandemic is over no earlier than end of June.
That would make sense why the Government are pushing hard for everyone to get the jab and some of the lockdown restricts aren’t lifted until then!
Excellent comment
So not so much “following the science” then as following the money and dictates of big pharma.
It was ever thus.
I had not heard that but it makes perfect sense! Crafty so and so’s…
It seems more likely to me that it’s about coercing everyone into accepting the CV19 passport.
I also feel this. Covid has been hijacked as a means to an end. Here in the EU we know these passports were planned well before the pandemic and this has given them an excuse to accelerate things.
I feel it’s quite clear that the U.K. government would have justified grounds to end lockdowns tomorrow if they wanted to so one really has to ask what’s in it for them to prolong it. I don’t kid myself that it’s because they really care about people’s health.
Apparently they charge HMG ‘cost price’ for the duration of the ’emergency’ so obviously it is in the governments interest to play the ’emergency’ for as long as possible.
But once the ’emergency’ is called over what justification do they have for continuing to licence the untested vaccines as an emergency measure?
The WHO is in charge of declaring when the “pandemic “ starts and stops .
Signature countries to the IHR (international health regulations) are legally obliged to comply with directives from the WHO until the plandemic is called off .
The chief of the WHO is “elected” by the main contributors ie USA China Uk and BMGF. This handpicked official then appoints underlings as he sees fit to pursue the intended agenda of those who appointed him .
A simple but effective mechanism to achieve any number of nefarious agendas without having to show your hand.
Obviously the pharma/vax corps are all at the trough as well . But this isn’t about pharma profits , that’s just icing on the cake.
Very much like EU then but without any pretence at democracy.
I’m trying to construct an acronym along the lines of ‘Brexit’ but for the UK to dissociate from WHO.
All I can come up with is Whexit. Brhout. UKWugh.
No wonder Trump pulled US funding out of WHO – was massively criticised for doing so – but just goes to prove he knew how corrupt it all was and wasn’t prepared to play ball.
Big Bad Billy Boy is the biggest contributor. He who pays the piper calls the tune.
They also changed the definition of a pandemic. The updated definition no longer requires death to occur for a pandemic to be declared. That means the common cold can now be declared a pandemic.
They also changed the definition of ‘herd immunity’ to exclude ‘naturally acquired immunity’ as as way of achieving it. It can now only be reached through ‘vaccination’. It amazes me how humanity got through all those dreadful diseases prior to the era of modern medicine without having vaccines to save them.
This needs some clarification because I read somewhere that the vaccine was only supplied at cost for people in the first nine groups:
This pre-supposes that the goal is to re-open, or get back to “normal” in any sense. Then you have to explain the delays, and the bizarre announcement that “Vaccine Passports” will only be mandated after everyone, down to babes in arm, has either been jabbed or kicked against the prick, i.e. after we have herd immunity and no reason at all to be concerned.
Posit instead that the goal is to keep that knee grinding on our necks until we’re clamouring to beep-bop every time we shop. “See, your Citizen Liberty Passes empower you to beg the State for permission to travel, recreate, work, transact and interact.”
Then there’s no need to explain anything, including the £37 billion already earmarked for transmogrifying Track and Trace into our social credit score apps.
Viewed that way, the unexpectedly rapid success of vaccines is the problem – now they have to mark time while getting the SCS app ready.
Oh, a couple of predictions for the next few weeks.
First, a coordinated legacy media campaign excoriating covidiots for swarming into Primark on Monday, leading to “public demand” for Track and Trace being mandatory at non-essential retail as well as hospitality.
Second, a hushed silence about daily “cases” plummeting while the schools are off (purely due to the lack of false positives from reduced testing), followed by screeching about “Confirmed cases rocket exponentially in just one week!” when they go back, and again, demands for apps to save us.
It’s all tiresomely predictable, and yet there’s nothing we can do to counter the propaganda.
Your last statement there gives me an insight. One idea might be a campaign of counter-propaganda (albeit perhaps a prohibitively expensive option) extolling the value of human freedom, economic prosperity and mental health wellness. In other words playing them at their own game to try and capture back the locus of attention of the hypnotized masses… waking the people up, so to speak. However, a better idea would campaigning to shed light on the vacuity of propaganda itself, as the problem lies primarily not with human nature, but with the power of propaganda and the subliminal moulding of our attitudes and beliefs.
This is what needs to change; the whitewashing of our worldviews through a kind of mass-hypnosis. For example, if everyone were simply left to make up their own minds having been provided a summary of the need-to-know facts how would things have been different? Once enough people are opposed to an idea there is nothing the political class can do to forcibly wedge it into our lifestyles. There has to be a critical mass of acquiescence.
Critical thinking and individuality are indeed the counters to collectivist conformance.
The problem is that we’re swimming against the tide of the entire establishment: legislature, policing, courts, and pretty much the entire of the Fourth Estate, both legacy and silicon. We can be algorithmically unpersoned in real time now.
So, yes to the goal, but I’m struggling to see how to reach it.
This would be where the Simon Dolan’s and the Tim Martin’s come in and other like minded business people – what is to stop them putting such a poster up in their businesses when they re-open – setting out, as you say, the “alternative” propaganda, enabling people to make up their own minds, free from government speak?. I see two flaws though, one we as lockdownsceptics have zero credibility [did you see the article in the guardian posted BTL yesterday basically saying we were a load of monster raving loonies?] and two I think that anyone who has already had the vaccine has possibly had some kind of alteration going on in their ability to think and also will simply not want to acknowledge that they have allowed themselves to be harmed in what is an undoable way, via having had the vaccine.
That’s an intriguing and pragmatic idea, and one that I could see Mr Martin going with.
It does however have the problem that in order to see the poster saying that you shouldn’t comply with the system, you’d first have to comply with the system – and it would be the establishment who would get punished if you took their advice.
Still, anything that we can do would be welcome, even if it’s squirting a water pistol back against a firehose.
Tim Martin just needs to pay for several thousand copies of the light newspaper and put them at every table. What can the government do about it? It wouldn’t cost him that much money, and what repercussions could there be?
Great idea – here’s hoping he is reading!!!
He did something like it for Brexit – weren’t there beer mats with a message?
Perhaps it really IS a mind-altering drug! It certainly doesn’t do much against the virus, by their own admission.
Does anyone have any idea how big we are as a group (that is Lockdown Sceptics)? As it seems almost impossible to change the minds of ‘non-believers’ I’m wondering what influence we do have, if any.
I go over and over in my head every day why so few think as we do and just what it is about us that makes us think so differently. Does anyone have any theories?
I have too, Hilary. Subliminal messages in soap operas? I’ve largely given up posting on Facebook as ‘head’, ‘brick wall’. I think the LS mailing list is several thousand at least. And yes it would be so good to have a mass gathering – ha ha.
If you look at the number of comments posted and then divide that by about 3 [bearing in mind that some people post more than 3 or 4 comments in a period] that gives you an idea of our numbers in terms of people posting – not sure what the forum numbers might be or similar on reddit. I am thinking that we are very small in numbers – too miniscule to achieve much. If you look at negative comments posted in response to DM articles – there might be as many as about 10,000 of us that we know of – Drop in the bucket compared to population of 68m.
“One idea might be a campaign of counter-propaganda”
In theory – but you neglect the huge factor of the capture of the MSM.
… and no – antisocial media is not an alternative to that.
You’re right, of course. But you’re also right to say it’d be prohibitively expensive, and they’ve got money on their side. We haven’t heard that there’s anyone on our side with that kind of dosh. Unless, of course, they’re in the shadows……
It has constantly surprised me that there has been no concerted campaign to advertise an alternative point of view to the government and medical dogma that has created this crisis, let alone a campaign to make the public aware of The Great Barrington Declaration.
timeforrecovery.org is the only organisation I know that is doing anything to promote or organise such a campaign. I don’t know why lockdown sceptics doesn’t promote it more?
“….. men go mad in crowds, while they only regain their senses one by one”. Charles Mackay.
well written… I can sense you’re angry
anger is good though… wish more people were angry, we might not have ended in this mess. It is the apathy and ignorance that will be our demise… lets face it… we are all responsible.. not the govt
“It is the apathy and ignorance …”
No, No, No. It is the genuine invoked fear that is the key issue. That has been the key strategy from the Mengele and Goebbels Memorial Brigade. And it has worked.
Yes, apathy and ignorance enabled it to continue, but none of this would have been possible without fear.
It’s been cleverly formulated from the start by those jumped-up social workers of SAG(e). First terrify the peasantry. From the start it was truly staggering that people were SO terrified. There seemed reason to be open-minded and careful in a physical way to avoid a possible illness – but TERROR? From there on the misinformation was easy enough to disseminate because of people’s ignorance and faith in a familiar system.
I think conformity has a lot to do with it as well. People all out clapping for the NHS, look at me good little citizen, I want to save people, people are dying… I get this a lot in my circle of friends and neighbours. No one wants to speak the obvious truth, no one wants to appear to be different.
“The reasonable man adapts himself to the world: the unreasonable one persists in trying to adapt the world to himself. Therefore all progress depends on the unreasonable man.” George Bernard Shaw
Lockdown cannot be removed if the objective is to perpetuate the emergency in order to vaccinate everybody. If the death rate goes to near zero thanks to vaccination of over-50s and vulnerable groups, first, the vaccine manufacturers risk losing their emergency authorizations (at least in the US, probably also in Europe); second, there is no need to vaccinate the rest of the population which is already protected by their healthy immune systems. So Big Pharma stands to lose billions but, more importantly, Big Tech would miss out on the really big prize, managing our vaccination passports.
Spot on. They have to keep this going, as the contracts have already been signed, and the swill must flow.
Today, for example, the “free” lateral flow tests become available to anyone who wants one.
They are of course nothing of the sort: we’re going to pay for them whether we use them or not. I wonder how many are going to go straight into landfill, but I don’t wonder, at all, whether the manufacturer is going to get paid the full contract amount regardless of how many are demanded or delivered.
Surprising that the ”Save The Earth” Greta lobby isn’t leaping up and down, filled with horror at all that plastic that will be made and then discarded.
Surprising, only until you consider that Global Warming is just another pretext for limiting the proletariat’s enjoyment of the planet and its resources.
Article, from very early in the plandemic: https://www.newscientist.com/article/2238831-greta-we-must-fight-the-climate-crisis-and-pandemic-simultaneously/#ixzz6IBcJhs79
Stop testing = scam over!
“If the death rate goes to near zero thanks to vaccination of over-50s …”
… Pigs will fly – given the minute absolute risk reduction and lack of evidence of reduction in transmission.
There is nothing in the current curves to suggest an impact from the ‘vaccines’ – compare last April : much the same natural decline.
The BBC reported yesterday that infections have fallen by roughly two-thirds since February. “Swabs taken from 140,000 people selected to represent England’s population between 11 and 30 March showed that 227 (one in 500 people) tested positive, but in people over the age of 65, the infection rate was one in 1,000”. In January covid deaths per day were 1300, today 60. (in reply before our addition/edit)
Deaths with CV19 at my local county general hospital are now in single figures, days apart.
Back in February there were multiple deaths a day announced.
The figures will simply be manipulated.
That’s a fair summary of how the next few weeks will pan out.
Anyone see that report on ZH which says that we need to have the track and trace app in order to go to a pub? And if we dont have a phone or a phone which can use the app, then we are not allowed to go to the pub at all?
Didnt they tell the police to delete this app from their phones? We all know that the app is a total waste of time and space. And yet they keep pushing this tracking agenda on us. If the vaccine works, which I have my doubts over but the government says it does, if it works then track and trace is moot. So why are they trying to force it onto us?
It’s since been amended to say that hospitality doesn’t have to mandate the spyware (although if they do, they must check that people have actually scanned in by demanding to see phone screens), they can manually collect details instead.
However, there’s nothing to say that they can’t mandate the app as a condition of doing business, if they don’t want the hassle of keeping paper records and dealing with the “I.P. Freely at 37 None of Your Business Street” crowd, given that it will only take one blockwart ratting them out to see them “fined” for that.
And I’d have to note that even giving fake details is still complying with the system. And that’s the goal at this stage, getting us used to begging for permission. They’ll refine the details later, while bigging up the social credit score apps as a convenience.
jeez… at least someone is asking the right questions.
My answer would be to ask if they’ve made enough money over the last six months that they can turn down mine…
The government is relying on peoples’ ignorance of the law to impose restrictions. When anyone opposes it they say it was ‘just government guidance’ not legally enforceable.
Why?..Because the modelled scenario requires 18 months..and they have to stick to the script.
“Mr Johnson has found the only thing that can keep these cats in a vaguely herded state is success. Well, yes. In politics, nothing succeeds like success. But adopting that as a governing strategy leaves little scope for occasional fumbles along the way.”
No-one could accuse the PM of being successful in his handling of covid. If you believe all the nonsense, they have failed to execute it efficiently by any measure. If you don’t believe all the nonsense, it was all futile and damaging. The only successful element has been the fear propaganda from the SPI-B.
He had a huge majority and almost a full term, and broad support from his party. There are no excuses. The simple fact is that he is either utterly useless, utterly spineless or quite wicked, or some combination of the above, and so are the Cabinet and so is his parliamentary party and all other MPs. Being able to smell bullshit from “expert advisors” is Politics 101. He failed.
To be fair, we have done a good job of securing and rolling out the experimental medical treatments.
And surprisingly, they do seem to be effective. Not safe, but effective: the China Virus is now pretty much a nosocomial condition of hospitals now, the community numbers are grinding along at the false positive floor.
Where that becomes a problem for Johnson is that it’s worked too well, and too fast. Now there’s nothing left to prop the propaganda up with beyond bleating about Double Mutant Strains.
Well,it depends what you mean by good. Money well spent? Who knows? Last summer the virus was mainly nosocomial. I suppose it’s good if you believe in the nonsense, so probably Joe Public thinks it is good.
“… we have done a good job of securing and rolling out the experimental medical treatments”
… only in the sense of foisting untested snake-oil on a large population to no observable benefit. The fall in real infection is an expected natural phenomenon – the same as that which occurred last year when there were no vaccines. The possible additional deaths related to vaccines hasn’t yet been bottomed.
How can anyone tell if it’s ”effective” against a fast-vanishing and epidemic virus? They have to keep testing healthy people to keep up the numbers with (usually false) positives in order to manipulate the sheep.
So – ”effective”? Viruses come and go. This one’s going, and it’s nothing to do with muzzles, lockdowns or some barely tested ‘vaccine’. The government’s concern about keeping us panicky is palpable. They’ll do ANYTHING to keep it going… What’s next?
He didn’t and hasn’t failed in Great Reset terms, just the opposite. Covid is simply the cover for all the rest.
His bonuses from WEF and Lord Bill of the Gates of Hell must be racking up nicely.
Spot on!
Why? Because the country still has doubts about the “post-pandemic” infraestructure that the govt needs to implement and there seems still resistance to the ideas… in other words, we are not yet ready to adopt the new security measures that are to be imposed on us… theyll keep us locked up a bit longer to see if we will change our mind
Agreed, they’ve accidentally succeeded too well and too fast and the kabuki horror mask is in danger of slipping. If they can’t keep us trembling in fear of the China Virus, even the Double Mutant Strains, then it may simply become a case of “… or else”.
Why? Isn’t it because the ‘vaks’ can only be used ”in an emergency” and so the ”emergency” has to be perpetuated? No ”emergency” = no ”approved for emergency” vaks.
What a pleasure to read a piece by an outside observer of British affairs as concise and insightful as this. Mr Sternberg grasps British politics both in the sense of who voted for which party and why, and also the politics of who’s up and who’s down in official Britain.
Plus, without naming it, he sees that the precautionary principle has come to mean that a plausible worst case scenario in which Boris Johnson, Chris Whitty and the rest (not to mention Biden, Merkel and Macron) lose their jobs should not wait for absolute proof before action is taken.
Arise, Sir Joseph. Give him a knighthood.
I do wish people would stop calling the “sage” experts , I find them bumbling idiots personally. They know nothing more than the average person in the street
They know less. The higher you go in academia the narrower your field of knowledge and the greater your depth of knowledge. So they end up know the square root of sod all about anything outside their specialism; a.k.a. life. It’s a recipe for disaster, putting a physicist in charge of predicting epidemiological outcomes; especially when they’re a legend in their own lunchtime and arrogantly defend their crap mathematical models, which have a demonstrable record of failure
Why? Because he’s an ignorant idiot
Apologies but was interrupted before completing! Ignorant, because he accepted the massively exaggerated deaths figure from Imperial. Idiot because he didn’t have the gumption to admit this was wrong
Pedantic side-question: Doesn’t anyone check these articles for typos?
(Good article though, of course)
Yeah, I do but nobody will listen so I don’t bother now!
It will never stop until the People say NO! Complying encourages them – DON’T COMPLY!
Don’t mistake Johnson’s long term obsession with vaccination as a means of population control https://www.bmj.com/content/370/bmj.m3099/rr-5
I think you’ll find it’s spelled “vise”.
Why?
Great. Reset.
One tiny point. I heard once pandemic is over big Pharma can make profits on jabs .
So save a few bob a jab for as long as possible ?
Could Boris be so cunning ?
no , its the Saninazis trying to cover their crimes .
That’s a long way of saying ‘so Boris doesn’t lose face’
We must suffer so he doesn’t have to. Fuck Boris
I read articles like these with my head cocked to one side.
The author knows full well that what they’re writing cannot possibly be correct.
For example, we’ve known for several quarters that the residual restrictions which are the tail end of lockdown are in no way responsible for ‘holding back a wave of infections’.
This piece is propaganda. It’s a piece which can safely be allowed in front of U.K. citizens, who’ve seen only what the censors have let them see.
The rest of us know that the heel dragging is pure theatre.
The editorial policy of this web site is bitterly disappointing.
This was not the first article to place explanations of politicking and petty corruption. We’ve even been treated to one suggesting that sceptics should resign themselves to having lost this fight, and, as the madness was (alleged to be) coming to an end, anyway, just review how to do better, next time a gross overreaction arises.
So It’s ALL SHOPS THEN / Hugo Talks – when are we going to stop this digital tyranny??

This is far more than just the Government being over cautious. This has been clear before the end of the “first” lockdown (it has never really ended). As that was ending they announced a new lockdown in Leicester.Whenever the “ease” measure the add “new ones”. In August we had “help out to est out” but you had to wear a mask in shop.
