Nicola Sturgeon’s husband Peter Murrell bought 108 loo rolls, 48 hours before the then Scottish First Minister told the public not to panic buy at the start of the Covid pandemic. The Mail has the story.
Peter Murrell bought more than 100 toilet rolls just hours before then First Minister Nicola Sturgeon warned the public against panic-buying during the pandemic.
The disgraced SNP chief executive splurged on the essentials as his now estranged wife urged Scots to “apply common sense” when lockdown loomed in March 2020.
Murrell – whom the former First Minister has now divorced – pleaded guilty last week to embezzling more than £400,000 from the SNP between 2010 and 2022.
He is set to be sentenced in June and yesterday a tearful Sturgeon claimed she has been unfairly vilified. She said she had no “conscious memory” of seeing his notorious motorhome, bought with stolen SNP funds and parked outside her mother-in-law’s home in Fife.
“I’m feeling as if I’m serving a sentence for a crime I did not commit. I’m not going to apologise for somebody else’s crimes,” she told Laura Kuenssberg.
Peter Murrell spent the stolen SNP money on items including a motorhome, cars, kitchen gadgets, expensive watches and pens and more mundane purchases such as hand cream and toilet seats.
Now court documents revealed Murrell spent £55.98 on 108 Andrex toilet rolls on March 7th while supermarkets battled chronic shortages of a number of essential items.
Just 48 hours later, Sturgeon appeared at a press conference instructing the public to “behave as rationally as possible” and avoid bulk buying in shops.
Despite the attempts to crack down on stockpiling, Murrell also bought 144 bottles of Evian still mineral water and four packs of liquid laundry detergent in the following weeks.
The panic purchases have sparked outrage among politicians, who suggest he hoarded the items in the knowledge that his wife’s imminent order would prompt supermarkets to limit purchases.
Scottish Conservative Deputy Leader Rachael Hamilton said: “Peter Murrell’s loo roll splurge suggests that he had advance notice of Nicola Sturgeon’s warning against panic buying, but it’s also typical of the SNP’s ‘do as I say, not as I do’ double standards.”

You should’ve put a trigger warning before the article that I was about to see that smug little git’s face! Loathsome creature.

The Scottish version of the famous power couple: Nicolae and Elena Ceausescu.
Nicola and Petru Sturgeonescu.
It will take more than 108 rolls to clean up the mess left by these two.
Is this really the high point of investigative journalism?
But we can’t expect the keen-sighted and big-brained Sturgeon to have noticed toilet rolls at a time when she was applying her forensic intelligence to the accounts of the SNP. [cough, cough, cough]
“Ah dinnae have a clue wha we ha all this bog rrrrroll!”
“Ah that’s mee, sweetie.”
“Weel ah need to tell everyone no tae do that…”
It seems odd to me that the MSM are fixated with toilet rolls and seems to have deliberate amnesia and poor eyesight when it comes to expensive cars, motorhomes, coffee machines, etc.
It’s a bit like “look, we’re telling you all about this dodgy bastard. But really only just enough to keep you believing we’re telling you all there is to know“.
I’m not sure which organisation is worse, the Scottish Nazis or the MSM. Perhaps the BBC will investigate and report more details. Yeah, right
Salmond, Sturgeon – something’s fishy in the State of Scotland.
Yes. They rot from the head down..
To be fair, there’s a lot of shit to deal with in that household.
Self serving hypocritical political leaders aren’t news. It’s the norm.
Only fools believe in the childish fantasy of the selfless, benevolent, self-sacrificing leader, that paternal figure of society that cares about us and pursues what is best for us,
That is why their power and authority has to be limited to the absolute minimum necessary to establish just enough order in our society and not an iota more.
Bog-roll-gate.. a new low in scottish national socialist politics.
We’ve got to get to the bottom of this.
Comfy-bum-gate. I remember Izal.
And, since he’s bald, why would he buy TWO hair-dryers? They were for Nicola Sturgeon’s use. Me thinks her protestations are insincere, if not deliberate lies.
