The BBC’s ‘Epiphany’ That Net Zero is Failing is Not What it Seems

Even the BBC is starting to admit that Net Zero is not going to plan. But the 'epiphany' of Climate Editor Justin Rowlatt is just damage limitation, says Ben Pile: the aim, as ever, is to keep the green show on the road.

In no less a place than the BBC website, no less a 'Climate Editor' than the BBC’s Justin Rowlatt has penned nothing less than the scoop of the century. Thanks to the peerless investigator’s unrivalled capacity for investigation, we learn that heat pump installations leave two-thirds of homes “more expensive to heat than before”, and that “while generating renewable electricity can be cheap, the system needed to deliver it is not”. The shocking evidence, unearthed for the first time by any journalist, anywhere, ever, causes him to reflect: “Is the Government chasing the wrong targets?”

It’s a timely investigation for Britain’s de facto state broadcaster. The war in Iran has triggered the third energy crisis since the inception of the Climate Change Act – the first coinciding with its beginning. Snow lay on the ground outside Parliament on October 28th 2008 as the final reading of the Climate Change Bill turned it into an Act, as if Nature Herself were mocking the MP’s unanimity to say 'wrap up warm'. Eighteen years later, Rowlett observes that: “Electricity has to be available all the time – not just when the wind is blowing or the sun is shining.” Who knew? Thanks to the perfect storm of many Western governments’ climate, energy and foreign policies creating a crisis that cannot be denied by BBC Verify’s glib smear-mongering as merely a 'far Right talking point', the reality facing every home and business in the UK needs to be explained.

Don’t get too excited. Rowlatt’s

So the BBC, which is supposed to be the BRITISH Broadcasting Company should actually be called the GLOBAL Broadcasting Company because their reporting is biased towards GLOBAL interests rather than BRITISH ones. ——The Sustainable Development , Net Zero and Climate Policies all emanate from the UN and WEF.——UK citizens are have their standard of living lowered, we are to make do with less of everything and we are to be priced out of using energy. —–The BBC by supporting Climate Policies and Net Zero are therefore complicit in our impoverishment.

I caught Rowlatt last week on a short BBC article about declining butterfly numbers. Of course the reason was their inability to handle climate change natch.
I guess it never occurred to him that covering large swathes of natural habitat both for the larvae/caterpillar and then the adult butterfly might not be too good an idea. Add in the rotating mincers and I would have thought it might be worth a mention.

The day Rowlatt admits he’s been lying & the BBC sack him for gross misconduct, will be the day that I shall bequeath the man a minuscule bit of respect

They are going to have to creep up on abandoning the entire green policy quietly and slowly or people might just notice, as we all have here, that successive governments have been talking bovine faeces for years.

I have seen little if any culpability on the part of the Conservatives for the way they entrenched Net Zero into law and practice. They now adopt new anti-Net Zero clothing like Cinderella with Amnesia thinking we do not realise they will revert back to their former selves when the opportune
moment arises.
It is notable to see how the Telegraph is supporting the Tories supposed “Damascus” conversion with its attacks on Reform.

It is a weird kind of socialism that punishes the poor, forces them into energy poverty, and destroys hundreds of thousands of well paying jobs. But that is what The Net Zero pretend to save the planet agenda is really all about. The UK and all wealthy western countries are deemed to have used up too many resources, we consume too much and we are to make do with LESS of EVERYTHING. This all starts of with energy use and we are to be priced out of using it. Affordable reliable energy (coal gas and oil) is to be removed and we are to be fobbed of with unaffordable unreliable energy (wind and sun)——-Our own Political Class are fully onboard with this eco socialism

I agree with you, but I suppose the argument is made that even the poorest in the West are richer than the poorest in developing countries. The aim, surely, is to engineer a descent into equal poverty for all the peoples of the world, except for those in the ruling class, who will live comfortable, prosperous lives, able to heat and light their homes and travel freely.

I believe the main obstacle is hubris. The Nut Zero acolytes do not want to face the cold, hard truth: they were wrong, and must now u-turn. They do not want to publicly acknowledge this as they fear it will undermine their credibility. They remain blissfully unaware, however, that their credibility is long diminished and could scarcely be damaged any further.

In my opinion the leftish minded hold two subconscious ideas which influence their conscious politics.

The first is that people are ‘blank slates’ at birth and may be perfected by well meaning education by the State leading to an Utopia.

The second is the idea of the ‘noble savage’ – a concept which would rescue us from ourselves turning away from excess consumption and leading eco-social-democratic low carbon lives.

Both ideas are demonstrably false. People are not ‘blank slates’ to be programmed by the Great and Good, nor were most savages noble. Thus Net Zero is driven by a ‘false consciousness’; there’s irony for you.

“low carbon”——-Carbon has become a kind of currency. The wealthiest emit the most as they have bigger houses, more vehicles and appliance, and fly more in aeroplanes etc.
The poor have lees of all that. So carbon taxes take money from the wealthiest and hand it to the poorest with government taking their cut.
As a lead author at the IPCC said a few years ago—“One has to free oneself from the illusion that climate policy is environmental policy anymore. We redistribute the worlds wealth via climate policy”. ——-It isn’t about the climate. The climate is simply the seemingly plausible excuse for the policies.

The woke lefties never think the policies they pretend to believe in will ever affect them. The rise in fuel costs and prospect of a shortage are filling them with fear. Finally they will realise they are the duped not the ‘fruitcakes and loonies’ on the other side.

Until the traitorous Tories wind up their CEN (Conservative Environmental Network) they can never be trusted. Really they should expel the CEN Net Zero cultists and give them a one way ticket to the Lib Dumbs.

As things stand, if the political winds changed again the Tories would switch back to Greta in an instance. They don’t do science or principles.
