The American election is very interesting. This is because of what Trump symbolises, and because of what Harris symbolises. Harris symbolises, to her supporters, hope, care, unselfishness, responsibility. She symbolises, to her opponents, continuity, the Establishment, the deep state, war, the Covid-corrupt, climate-corrupt, corporate-corrupt elites. Trump symbolises, to his supporters, authenticity, common sense, a return to an older order, liberalism, prosperity, freedom from fanaticism. He symbolises, to his opponents, the possibility of the overturning of established American order so great that there is almost no limit to the hyperbole possible, including even reference to Hitler.
