The Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) could push for a legal exemption so women can move to the front of the membership queue. The Telegraph has the story:
The 239 year-old club is consulting members on a variety of schemes to increase its female membership, which stands at only 3.2%. Women were first allowed to join the MCC in 1998, but it can take 30 years to gain full membership.
Proposals to address the imbalance include fast-tracking women through the waiting list for full membership, overtaking men who have waited decades.
Other proposals include allocating new memberships on a 50:50 gender split, even though women make up only 12% of membership candidates, and allowing members to nominate more candidates if they include women on their lists.
However, the club’s lawyers are concerned that the diversity drive would qualify as positive action, which would count as illegal discrimination against men.
A consultation sent to members, which closes on Friday, said the MCC could seek an exemption to the law to allow it to breach the Equality Act 2010 in pursuit of more female members.
The document, seen by the Telegraph, warned that “any efforts by MCC to address gender diversity within the membership that involve giving preferential treatment to female candidates over male candidates are likely to fall within the scope of positive action”. …
The MCC consultation states that the club could “consider other strategies to overcome legal barriers, such as pursuing a private bill” if other legal avenues have been “exhausted”.
A law change would make it legal for the club to discriminate against men by putting them at a disadvantage on the waiting list.

Maybe write to the men in charge who have embraced the woke ideology and are instigating this change and ask them?

Well they do. Waiting is a passive act, you apply to join then carry on with your life…
The MCC has been engaged in this Culture Revolutionary activity for some time. It attempted to cancel the Harrow/Eton School match a few years back, which was met by a not insignificant push back by members. Lords is an extraordinary historical place. By engaging in erasing its traditions, it merely ceases to represent anything more than real estate. The people at the helm of this organisation have forgotten that they are charged with the custodianship of something far greater than themselves. If they wish to indulge in this modish behaviour, then they can start another club, from scratch.
What is wrong with these people!
My understanding is that “positive action” is already allowed under the current legislation to “address imbalances”. That’s the avenue pursued by organisations such as the RHS and various other institutions to provide more employment and training opportunities for non-white people.
Why?
I’d love to know their target percentage of women members that they’re ultimately aiming for.
My dad used to play Sunday cricket, and I’m pretty sure most of the wives that came along were bored senseless by lunchtime. I just can’t imagine any of the women I’ve ever met in my life wanting to sit through 5 whole days of it.!?

Here we are again with the usual formula, because that’s how predictable this scenario has become now, it’s so commonplace. I’m sure you can guess without checking who the people in positions of leadership at this particular cricket club are but ( *Spoiler* ) I shall inform you anyway: the CEO, Chairman and President are all white men and it is therefore they that are pushing this diversity crapola because they take overall responsibility. Despite this undeniable fact, however, I can be assured that the whopping 3.2% of female members, as well as the 12% lurking in the wings, will get the blame for the alleged ‘feminization’ of this organization. Quite the paradox, that, isn’t it? Plus, why on earth does it take 30 years to get a membership in the first place?
Why?
Because a lot of people want join and there’s a cap of 18,500 full members.
