Police have admitted that they do not the country of origin of the Belfast knife attack suspect, Hadi Alodid, who is charged with the attempted murder of Stephen Ogilvie, who lost an eye and suffered injuries to his back and head in the attack last month. The Telegraph has more.
The Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) originally said Hadi Alodid was from Somalia, before stating that he was Sudanese. However, a month after the attack, the force has said he may be from the neighbouring African country of Chad.
Footage shared widely on social media at the time of the attack showed a knifeman holding down and stabbing his victim in an attack that triggered violent anti-immigration protests.
Appearing before a joint Westminster committee on Tuesday, Asst Chief Constable Davy Beck said: “We do continue to investigate the origins of the male, with one potential line of inquiry indicating that he may potentially be from Chad and not Sudan as was initially indicated.
“And we continue to investigate that line of inquiry with the relevant authorities in Chad.”
The case has raised concerns about how the knife attack suspect managed to use a loophole in the asylum system to gain entry to the UK. Whichever his country of origin, he is believed to have headed to Europe via Libya.
The PSNI previously said he was thought to have travelled to Paris and then to Dublin before taking a bus to Belfast in February 2023. There, he claimed asylum and was given leave to remain in the UK in September that year.
The so-called ‘Irish route’ involves migrants flying to Dublin from Europe, sometimes on false papers, before travelling unchecked to Northern Ireland by land to claim asylum. The UK and Ireland share a common travel agreement that allows free movement across the border without routine immigration checks.
The Home Office has previously confirmed that the suspect was granted refugee status after arriving in the UK and was granted leave to remain until 2028.

Well I guess the best solution would be to drop him from 20000 feet on the point where these countries intersect and let Allah guide him back to his true homeland, hopefully he’ll hit so fast he breaks through to hell, where he belongs.
With someone to bite his ankles during the flight.
You reminded me of this epic feat. I can’t imagine being married to someone like this. Their brains are wired differently. 😮
”On July 30, 2016, a skydiver named Luke Aikins actually jumped from 25,000 feet… without a parachute or a wingsuit, and survived. The stunt was called “Heaven Sent” and aired live on Fox. He freefell for about two minutes at 120 mph, completely relying on GPS prompts in his helmet to steer his body in mid-air.
His target was a 100-by-100-foot net suspended 200 feet above the ground by cranes in Simi Valley, California. Right at the last second, he flipped onto his back to land safely in the net. It officially set a Guinness World Record for the highest skydive without a parachute. Absolutely insane to watch.”

That’s ok then, drop him off in north Belfast, I am sure he will disappear quickly, never to be seen again.
Oh come now! You’ve got to give the residents fair warning…
Does it really matter where he’s really from? If he claimed to be Somalian then when he’s eventually released from jail drop him off in the middle of rural Somalia.
My first thought involved the words drop and helicopter. It’s still my preferred option.
Naive question: if you don’t know what country someone is from, how can you know it’s dangerous and grant him refugee status?
You don’t.
And compare that with the treatment of legitimate travelers with passports: fingerprinting at airports, passport checks, visa requirements, pre-travel authorization, DNA samples, full family history. You need to queue for two hours? Tough luck, mate.
In contrast, arrive in a dinghy, make up a story, claim refugee status and nobody will know anything about you. You could be a terrorist, or just a sadistic serial killer escaping justice. We just don’t know.

why not ask Ancestry.Com. They advertise services which do exactly that.
Oh yes they do know, but are concealing it to let him stay in the country, and deflect attention away from his WEALTHY, PROMINENT North Sudanese family.

Real surname “Al-Aydid”?
And can we just remember that he and his brother were placed into a House in Multiple Occupation by Sinn Fein with the victim, who already lived there, welcomed them and helped them move in.
