In August last year, Daily Sceptic readers may remember I wrote about an organisation called the New Economy Organisers Network (NEON), whose most famous funder is George Soros (via his Open Society Foundations).

NEON “offers hands-on support and training for campaigners, organisers, communications and operations teams working across social movements”, and has prepared the likes of Zoe Gardner, Gary Stevenson, Faiza Shaheen and Grace Blakeley for the media. They are all Left-wing activists who push Left-wing talking points (e.g. wealth taxes) at every opportunity.
And that’s not all. Last week NEON held a media training session for the Welsh Refugee Council, which was awarded £4,819,990 in taxpayer funding between 2020–24. That’s in addition to the £41,588,000 in taxpayer funding awarded to the British Refugee Council from 2021–25 (not forgetting all the other taxpayer-funded open border charities).
On Instagram, NEON posted a video about its training with the Welsh Refugee Council, beginning with the question “Do you want to know how we take on the far-Right? It starts with community, sharing what we know, backing each other and most importantly, showing up.”

The video showed NEON’s “iconic trainer, Sakina” leading the session, who “created a really open space for discussion, encouraging people to share their experiences and explore the challenges of media interviews and finding their own voice in storytelling.”

How lovely!
Although this session appeared rather rudimentary in nature, NEON’s services go much further. For instance,

If our communities are compassionate and want to help, by all means let these people welcome an Afghan into their spare room as they did with Ukranians, I’m not stopping them, just as long as they take responsibility for him and don’t ask for any public money from the rest of us
We need legislation (no, really this time) to require political pressure groups to declare the source of funds from overseas. They must also be kept out of tax payer funded bodies.
Political pressure groups should most definitely not have charity tax status and government has no business making donations to any charity on our behalf – not even the charities I approve of.
The Gift Aid system is nuts. Taking money in tax from us and then giving it to charities we support is inefficient. The more bureaucracy the money passes through the greater the overheads. Take less in tax and leave it to the people to donate what we want (or can) to what we consider to be good causes.
I recognise the article is primarily about rich people funding things they approve of but the last thing the state should do is reinforce such things. If the rich are supporting some organisation then it probably doesn’t need my money too.
I’d love to get inside the heads of the very rich people who give their money and energy to this stuff.
Me too. All these foundations and billionaires are all Far Left and not doing anything good. In the Victorian era they used their wealth to found schools, hospitals, cultural buildings. They built canals and then railways, and far more efficiently than the current rail white elephant.
They now seem to want to destroy, not create.
For those seeking refuge from Wales once Plaid is in control under Mr Jones?
Why are all the people pictured fat? Too many sponges?
