In a damning indictment published in Wednesday's Daily Mail, researchers from the University of Birmingham have laid bare the futility of London Mayor Sadiq Khan's Ultra-Low Emission Zone (Ulez) expansion, concluding that the scheme has delivered zero tangible benefits to London's ambient air quality.
Analysing data pre- and post the August 2023 Ulez rollout, which blanketed Greater London with a £12.50 daily levy on older vehicles, the study found no statistically significant dips in nitrogen dioxide (NO2) or particulate matter (PM2.5) levels. This revelation strips away the veneer of environmental virtue from Khan's project, exposing it as yet another assault on ordinary motorists. Ulez epitomises the corruption of science in service of predatory revenue extraction and class war.
The Ulez Expansion: A Timeline of Overreach
Ulez's origins trace back to 2019, when Khan started the scheme in central London, ostensibly to curb emissions from diesel and petrol cars and trucks to alleviate respiratory health. By 2021, it sprawled to the North and South Circular roads, ensnaring 3.8 million residents. The 2023 mega-expansion to all of Greater London where pollution was even less of a problem — spanning 1,500 square kilometres and nine million people — ignited fury, manifesting in protests and sabotage.
This wasn't mere policy tweak; it was the punitive imposition of burdensome taxes and fines on the car-dependent masses.
London’s 'Blade Runners'—a nod to the dystopian film — emerged as folk heroes in this resistance. These activists armed with tools from angle

An irony is, those with non-compliant cars within the outer ULEZ area, either sold or gave away their cars to people outside of London!
Who wrote Khants Green book for him & whose Yacht is it 🤔
We’ve got to start looking at the organ grinders, rather than their willing accomplices.
Khan might chair the C40 Cities grouping of mayors (mares?), but they’re just a load of unintelligent servants of globalist masters, helped along by pseudo-science.
Politicians can now get away with killing babies in public! There are no scandals anymore
Tower Hamlets and Kensington have similar levels of NO2 and particulates pollution. One has shorter than average lifespans and the other the longest. One is populated by poor with unhealthy diet. The other has the richest population and eats well.
Using their own figures, King’s College estimates that by enforcing Ulez a male living 80 years in the area covered would live weeks or a few months longer after breathing lower levels of pollution. These differences are multiplied by the number of the whole population in order to obtain the figures of annual deaths running into thousands. The lying dim-witted politicians then use this figure as real in order to justify their taxes.
Sadiq Khan’s Gas Guzzling Hypocrisy
They won’t give up. Next they’ll just come knocking with baseball bats to get your money.

How much money has the London Ulez scheme made
# Response:
As of the last verified public data (mid-to-late 2024), the **London Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ)** has generated **over £1.2 billion** in revenue *since its inception in April 2019*. However, the real figure is higher now (late 2025) because of the **massive expansion and enforcement in 2023** which blanketed **all 33 London boroughs**, leading to a huge surge in charges and fines.
Let’s break down what’s known:
—
#### 💷 **Revenue Breakdown**
– **2019–2021:**
– ULEZ brought in roughly **£227 million** in its first year and a half.
– Most came not from daily charges (£12.50 per day) but **from Penalty Charge Notices (PCNs)** averaging £160 per violation before discounts.
– **2022–2023 (Pre–Expansion):**
– Annual revenue was hovering around **£224 million** per year.
– **Post-Expansion (Late 2023–2025):**
– Transport for London (TfL) estimated ULEZ expansion across Greater London would yield **£700–800 million in its first full fiscal year**.
– Real-world data from freedom of information requests suggested **more than £500 million** was taken between August 2023 and August 2024 when the full GLA-wide scheme came online.
So by **late 2025**, total cumulative revenue likely exceeds… Read more »
Brilliantly researched 👏
Something screwy with this paragraph, I think.
