Health Secretary Sajid Javid has been directly challenged by an unvaccinated hospital consultant over the Government’s policy of compulsory Covid jabs for NHS staff. Sky News has more.
During a visit to King’s College Hospital in south London, Mr. Javid asked staff members on the intensive care unit about their thoughts on new rules requiring vaccination for NHS workers.
And Steve James, a consultant anaesthetist who has been treating coronavirus patients since the start of the pandemic, told the Health Secretary about his displeasure.
“I’m not happy about that,” he said. “I had Covid at some point, I’ve got antibodies, and I’ve been working on Covid ICU since the beginning.
“I have not had a vaccination, I do not want to have a vaccination. The vaccines are reducing transmission only for about eight weeks for Delta, with Omicron it’s probably less.
“And for that, I would be dismissed if I don’t have a vaccine? The science isn’t strong enough.”
Mr. James also revealed another of his colleagues held the same position.
Mr. Javid replied: “I respect that, but there’s also many different views. I understand it, and obviously we have to weigh all that up for both health and social care, and there will always be a debate about it.”
The consultant suggested the Health Secretary could use the “changing picture” of the Covid pandemic during the Omicron wave to “reconsider” the rule.
Alternatively, Mr. James suggested, the government could “nuance” the rules to allow those who have antibodies – but acquired from infection and not vaccination – to not be required to have a jab.
He told the Health Secretary that it “didn’t make sense” to dismiss doctors who already had Covid antibodies, but who did not want to be vaccinated.
“The protection that I’ve got from transmission is probably the equivalent to someone who is vaccinated,” Mr James said.
But Mr. Javid told him “at some point that will wane as well”. He added that the government takes the “very best advice” from vaccine experts.
“I respect your views and more than that I respect everything you’re doing here and the lives you’re saving,” the Health Secretary told Mr. James.
I respect everything you’re doing – but I’m going to sack you for not getting vaccinated, even though you’ve got antibodies and the vaccines don’t prevent infection or transmission.

I have been unable to even enter my doctor’s surgery for two years, until I needed to get a medical report for my firearms cert renewal. GP charged 60 quid, cash, no cheques, had to come in to hand that over. No problem entering the surgery for that. Cold hard cash is like kryptonite to a virus.

Exactly, usually this sort of discussion would be simply censored away. Most political “debates” are like that – only pre-approved questions allowed, and anyone from “opposition” usually holding back in their own self interest (because they do not want their own bollocks to be torn down to pieces during a next round). I remember distinctly one day when an important local politician visited our research institute. We, the young researchers, who were supposed to present our research, were briefed beforehand by our principals on how to explain things to him (“imagine you’re speaking to an idiot kid”). We were also advised to forgive, not act embarrassed and quickly change topic if he acts stupid or starts asking ridiculous questions (“Mr. X is a very busy man, but a lot of our grant money depends on his decisions”).
Later on I understood that this is the general healthy relationship between experts and politicians. The expert helps the politician cover his complete ignorance of any subject and shift blame if need be while the politician in turn helps the expert get (lots of) money from public pocket.

It opens 2 avenues of retreat for both parties, first it sets up the NHS not to accept the compulsory vax and then it will allow the care workers to go back to work. This consultant anaesthetist, who probably only got 3 or 4 A grades at A Level, and went through medical school and then his clinical training clearly knows nothing. He should show some respect, and have the common decency to jump before he is pushed.

Do we care if it’s a set up? I don’t. I want the government to row back. I want them to think they’ve got away with it, to relax.
And then we gather all the evidence and hold them to account, for the untreated patients, the denied education, the vaccine deaths and injuries, the suicides, the financial ruin. ALL OF IT.
I want nothing more than for the government to row back, but I just can’t see it happening. They are not like you and I. They are psychopaths. They don’t care about anyone but themselves. If they did care, they would have rowed back on that terrible mandate about carers having to be vaccinated. It’s the lack of carers now that’s causing the hospitals to be clogged up with elderly people who don’t need to be there, but can’t be safely discharged. I have long felt that the government are deliberately trying to destroy the nhs. If that’s the case, they’re doing a pretty good job of it. I think all we can do is hold these bastards to account (and that includes the nhs chief execs, who are going along with this charade).

Arguing for natural immunity exemption is medically sensible but futile and beneath the real points speaking against this ‘vaccination’, the mandates and the passports.
Another point he could have raised is that any unvaccinated doctor or nurse just LFT tested is far safer for patients than any vaccinated doctor or nurse, if that was really about patients health.
(Even more so if the tests were finally standardized…)
Which it can’t be anymore of course- that mandate and the one for carers is all the proof one needs for this- and it likely never was or will be.

The interview mentions shedding and suggests, from someone who is an expert in their field, that shedding IS a thing:

Re:databases, here in Italy with the vaxx mandate requirement being floated for Feb 1st or 15th – the Italian government is allegedly about to use the National tax database (Agenzia delle entrate) cross referenced with the National Health vaccination database. This should be able to automatically remove the one hundred euro fine, from those citizens over fifty years of age, who aren’t up-to-date with the vaxx.

The great myth of the NHS is that it’s a public service. If this doctor is a consultant then he’s very probably self employed, hence the term ‘consultant’.
The threat from the NHS to suspend or sack the unjabbed is hollow and unsustainable, and they know it. It’s just that, a threat which will never be followed through.
If the NHS lost 10% of its medical staff it would fall over instantly as it is already understaffed.

Wonderful. Calm, intelligent and rational; just as we expect senior hospital doctors to be. Virtually everyone working with patients in hospitals will have had Covid by now, vaccinated or not. It is absurd to ignore their professional knowledge and threaten them with the sack for failing to do something that they know is illogical and potentially dangerous. I thought Javid was quite rude.

We hear over and over again that 90% of the NHS are fully vaccinated.
The problem the government has is that they do not know which 90%. If the 90% is on the administrative side, it means that a significant proportion of the medical side are unjabbed. This is a real problem as the NHS will shut down almost immediately. Should the 10% be solely amongst the administrators then it will have little impact on services.
My money is on the 10% being concentrated amongst people like Steve James, the more medically aware cohort. Not only will their removal close the NHS, it will open up avenues for each of them personally to explore unfair dismissal with potentially a full years salary gifted to them by way of apology.
Sticking my neck out here, I reckon the April deadline will never happen. Many medical practitioners when asked if they have had their jab would quite rightly reply “none of your business” (medical records being private) when asked by their employers (the Novak Djokovic defence), which means planning for late April impossible.

I think that’s a fair point…I would have been rather nervous, hence the nurses initial lack of response. That’s why the speaking up was so much more impressive. I have been waiting for the chance to bump into the leading political criminals…especially whilst on camera…the intelligent, reasoned approach seems have a decent effect.

The Health Secretary claiming to be listening to the “very best advice” from “vaccine experts” is a contrast to the then government reaction to the 364 “expert” economists writing to The Times to criticise the 1981 budget (although some even today say they were right whilst others say they were wrong – perhaps it would be better if we hadn’t had any budgets over the last 40 years until we’d sorted it all out!).
Whilst I am happy to listen to this “very best advice”, I suspect I will remain highly sceptical of this “very best advice” from “vaccine experts”. But I am certainly happy and curious to watch the “vaccine experts” jabbing themselves to their hearts content and observe the result. Perhaps in 40 years time the “very best advice” from these “vaccine experts” will have finally settled upon the correct approach?

I know this will be an unpopular view but I am not quite sure why people think it is a great clip, I think sceptics are hearing things he doesn’t actually say, he actually says “the vaccine reduce transmission” (do they? certainly not according to case numbers) and doesn’t criticise it – just says it doesn’t last long enough.

The very idea of a A&E doctor whose worked throughout the pandemic being challenged by a finance executive is laughable, insulting and such a great example of the insanity of the past two years.
How did this consultant acquire natural antibody immunity? By exposure to the virus. So if and when that ‘wanes’ what will happen when he’s exposed to the virus? His immune system will use it’s memory of the pathogen and produce more antibodies. That’s why natural immunity is far superior to any vaccine and is far more resilient to mutations. This should be 101 for a competent Secretary of State.
