The Scottish Government requires all schools to leave windows open in an attempt to stop the transmission of Covid. This has led to teachers and pupils sitting in freezing classrooms and needing to wear winter coats to stay warm, with opposition MSPs demanding that the Government install indoor ventilation as an alternative. The Times has the story.
Children are being forced to wear overcoats and blankets in bitterly cold classrooms because of a Government edict to keep windows open to limit the transmission of Covid.
One teacher said that temperatures plummeted to 11C, potentially putting children at risk of asthma attacks and other conditions linked to the cold.
The Scottish Government advises schools to strike a balance between ventilating classrooms to clear the air of the Covid while keeping room temperature above 17C.
Nuzhat Uthmani, a Teacher at Lorne Street Primary School in Glasgow and a member of the Educational Institute of Scotland teaching union, said: “I had my jacket on after lunchtime for the whole afternoon, along with my 30 pupils. We were so cold.”
Kerry Fraser, an English Teacher at Perth High School, said her pupils had complained of the cold. She added: “I checked the CO2 monitor and it was 11.2 degrees. I had to close all the windows and watch the monitor go red. I’ve been wearing a blanket in class.”
Opposition MSPs said the situation was unacceptable and urged ministers to install indoor ventilation in schools.
Michael Marra, the Scottish Labour Education Spokesman, said: “The SNP and the Greens rejected our proposals for air filters for every classroom.
“Eighteen months into this pandemic, and ‘open a window’ is the best the SNP have to keep schools safe. It is insulting and unsustainable.”
Oliver Mundell, Scottish Conservative education spokesman, said: “We are only at the start of winter, and temperatures will drop. The SNP need to provide more support, so teachers and pupils are not left bearing the brunt of the freezing months ahead.”
Willie Rennie, the Scottish Liberal Democrat education spokesman, said schools need more than CO2 monitors to keep Covid at bay and called for a rollout of air purifiers.
He said: “The new Omicron variant is posing more threats to us, the government has a duty to step up, evolve its position and make sure we are doing the right things for our schools.”

It is essential that awake parents remove their children from UK schools immediately. No questions, no debates, no letters of intent, just get them out of there while you can and while they are not jabbed. Kids are being jabbed behind their parents backs in schools and enrolled to clinical trials for gene therapy injections which have every chance of shortening and worsening their life and health chances. They are being brainwashed and turned into useful products for the furtherance of this evil system.

Was teaching a Year 13 class this afternoon and a student was looking decidedly woozy and faint, with his eyes half closed. I asked him what was wrong and he said he’d just had his booster and was feeling terrible. I asked him why he’d decided to have one so young and his reply was that the Geography department had told him to go for it because it might be required to go on a school trip to Iceland later in the year. I despair.

We’ve one teacher fully bought in to Covid and windows open, other teacher seems a bit more sensible and keeps them mostly shut but of course covid hit the class, Head got annoyed, and back to windows being open. Until those in positions of control wise up, children will continue to get screwed over in many ways.

That the climate permits this to protect healthy children from respiratory infections in Scotland in winter is another recent public health innovation. They wouldn’t be doing this with TB patients unless they were planning to kill them.

Conventional wisdom says that people who don’t stay warm in winter get sick with flu and bad colds. Hence, conventional wisdom says that this is an attempt to boost disease levels in pupils.
Is there any amount of torture (yes, forcing people to stay in the cold is torture) these lying hyenas are not going to get away with? I have no children. But they wouldn’t be doing this to mine if I had.
I’m not sure it is to do with warmth (for those aged under 65 or so).
Eg, average winter house temperatures appear to have increased from about 15C in the mid 1970s to about 21C in the mid 2010s (eg, Mavrogianni et al 2011) without there being any substantial change in influenza outbreaks (for those aged <65 — there is a protective effect seen in the older population). I’m not so sure about colds, because there’s less surveillance as they’re so benign normally.
As an interesting aside, the increase in winter house temperature over the decades is thought to at least be a contributory factor in the observed increase in obesity rates in the population, due to lower resting metabolic rates.
I’m entirely sure that my body burning a lot of calories in order to maintain a certain, internal temperature is something that’s required for its functioning. I’m also pretty sure that the idea of heating homes in winter is not some sign of modernist corruption but stems from a basic necessity for human life. But please feel free to prove me wrong by spending the next four months naked outside. We can talk again in spring if we both make it.

Humanity used shelter as protection from the rain and wind, mainly. Sure, people have used heating for a few thousand years, but it is only since the 1960’s that it has become normal in Britain for ‘average people’ to heat entire houses during winter to what is close to a summer temperature.
I’d have thought that even as recently as the 1950’s that average house temperatures for the median person would be in high single figures on a cold winter’s evening apart from ‘one warm room’.
Regarding ‘standing naked outside’ — that’s taking things to extreme. Most people could cope perfectly well with a house temperature in the low teens during a cold winter day. As for me, I generally heat my office to about 15 degrees in the depths of winter — I find it fine and don’t sit there shivering etc.
I’d consider myself lucky if I was able to heat my apartment to 15 degrees in winter. But that’s sort-of an aside, as the original issue was letting school rooms cool down to ambient temperature in Scottland in winter to safeguard the health of people supposed to spend long times sitting in them.
(affluent) Contemporaries of Jane Austen would have been horrified by the idea of getting thoroughly cold to improve one’s health and while we (as a society) are meanwile less hysterical about these kinds of illnesses as we know more about them (and a less malnourished and thus, fall prey to them less often), exposing kids to hours of rough-sleeping conditions to improve their health is – at best – bizarre. At worst, it’s sinister.
I’ve spent some years living without heating in the north of Germany, just for fun. Waking up to 10-12C temperature in my bedroom every day. The biggest problem was not the cold, but damp towels not drying. I recommend clothing made of polyurethane foam and mylar emergency blankets if you want to try. Also eating fatty food like peanuts (cheap, yummy, full of calories and nutrients).
I routinely sleep with the heating turned off and the garden door open (secured with a rope to stop burglars from entering, something I had to start after someone came in to steal a jacket, a mobile and my Sparschwein … grrrr) all year (next to said garden door). Three layers of ordinary blankets and another to lie on (no, I really don’t own a bed — they’re crap
) are perfectly fine.

When local authorities need to get more cash, they always close the libraries first. This is because people care about libraries but local authorities don’t — by closing them first the council leaders make their point about wanting more cash without actually causing any harm to their lifestyles. Of course, local councils always want more cash, so they’re always threatening what little services they offer to the ‘average resident’ rather than actually trying to get their budgets under control.
Covid is very similar — when the authorities want to make a point they always beat up the children and young people. There’s no benefit to any of the covid measures directed towards children as they don’t get ill from covid and don’t spread it particularly. However, they are overly affected by interventions.
My guess is that those in power do this because it allows them to tell everyone about how seriously they’re taking it all, but the people (children) affected don’t complain so much and their opinions can be safely ignored.
Of course, eventually the children that we’ve damaged will grow up and seek revenge for what was done, but that’s all in the future and probably will affect the average person far more than the people actually making these terrible decisions.
One thing I’ve noticed about a lot (not all) local councillors is.. they love their junkets.. town twinning, all at rate payers expense of course. A lot of them are low level Masons too..

One observation that’s interesting when you think about it is that no local council ever has said ‘actually, we’ve got a fair bit of cash — lets put council tax down a bit’. Their normal way of working is to spend all the money (including on junkets, etc), then spend a little bit more, and then close the libraries and say ‘see, we told you there wasn’t enough cash’.
Government departments do this as well, of course, but they tend to have the odd hammering every few years to sort them out. Well, apart from the NHS.
I recall working on one publicly funded research project (in Germany) where the project sponsor from the ministry told the grantees in a meeting exactly how to reword the grant application so that he could approve it and spend “his” grant money. From his point of view he was drowning in money with not enough qualified takers. It is apparently a political problem when budgets are not exhausted. It was an eye-opener to me (then a naive young researcher) how these things really work.
And it’s worth noting that they tend to spend any surplus towards the end of the tax year, as they can’t carry it forward. Doesn’t look good if your budget was over the top. That’s why lots of odds & ends get done before April.

The “air purifiers” are probably just as an effective solution to the covid problem as the masks and the vaccines, only less so. But a great opportunity to tap into public funds nevertheless.
I had them for a number of years because hub had asthma quite bad at the time. Didn’t seem to do much except get very dirty (which I suppose means they were doing something but I couldn’t detect anything noticeable.)
They are the modern-day equivalent of snake oil. Nothing more. Nothing less.
The real ones, occasionally used in air conditioning plant with air recycling, are ultra violet C units, that can annihilate all sorts of things, including viruses, by reducing the amount of whatever it is in the building or whatever.
It might be a good idea to get children used to being in the cold indoors, as that’s what’s coming as part of the West’s fight to combat climate change.

I’ve continued to see clients face to face privately and through a not for profit counselling service throughout the pandemic. I’ve never opened a window whilst sitting a room with a client for an hour. I don’t wipe down surfaces or use the hand gel we have dotted around the place. I’ve never worn a mask and neither have the clients. The counsellors have seen about 100 clients in our rooms. Whilst people have cancelled due being pinged or having to self isolate, we’ve had not one incidence of COVID. Maybe I’ve been cavalier and I realise my experience could be an anomaly but I do not think do. We are all volunteers and have seen every client within two weeks of self referral. The local NHS, GPs, CAMHS, schools, job centre and social workers all signpost clients to us.
Surely there is a law about minimum temperature for classrooms?!

This young woman was incarcerated in the camp for two weeks and threatened with a $500 fine even though she tested negative repeatedly.
When she enquired about this she was told by the Australian CDC it was probably “punishment” for lying to the authorities about having taken a test, when she had not. She never tested positive, but was locked up for 14 days and lost her job

I was speaking to a fellow human rights lawyer from Japan last night. She asked me, “are they really transporting people into detention simply for being close contacts?”
I told her that it is even worse than that – that the judgment call on whether somebody should be taken to a quarantine facility is an arbitrary one, based on loose and dangerous criteria such as whether that person is ‘likely to cause a risk’ if they aren’t locked up.
It doesn’t matter if the ‘close contact’ tests negative, even multiple times (like most of Australia’s Covid measures, it’s not actually about whether people are sick, or contagious).
There is also no defined limit to the quarantine period. In NSW, where a personalised “public health order” lasts for 14 days, a new one can be issued ad hoc at the end of that period, again and again. I have spoken to people who were in quarantine for 2 months, despite repeatedly testing negative, and despite repeatedly suggesting alternative places they could isolate. One of these people, a young Sudanese mother who I am assisting with claims for false imprisonment and racial discrimination (arbitrary criteria such as ‘likely to cause a risk’ are a giant red flag for prejudicial decisions), attempted suicide during her stay.
The increasing use of Howard Springs in the NT, and the continued building of similar camps in Victoria and Queensland implies State Governments who intend on expanding and continuing the use of these facilities.

Panic overreaction writ large. However, they could also be falling foul of the Health and Safety at Work Act, in as much as real risks should be reduced as low as reasonably practicable (ALARP). Of course, the definition of ‘reasonable’ and ‘practicable’ could be debatable. There are also minimum temperature recommendations which they are probably contravening, and other related health risks in a wide variety of working circumstances. An obvious crap idea, which they should be ashamed of.
Doing something stupid (causing another risk) on account of being scared of something else might not be a good defence in court. At least it’ll keep the procurator fiscals etc busy north of the border!
