Under-40s to be Offered Alternative to AstraZeneca Jab

by Toby Young
7 May 2021 1:25 PM

The Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI) has issued new guidance today saying that adults aged 30 to 39 without underlying health conditions should be offered an alternative to the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine. MailOnline has more.

Britons under 40 should be offered an alternative to the Oxford/AstraZeneca Covid vaccine due to its link to rare blood clots, health officials announced today.

Advisers made the recommendation after more adults suffered the potentially-fatal clotting disorder in the past week.

They said the absolute risk of the clots is still “extremely small”, affecting around one in 100,000 people given the British-made jab.

So far regulators have spotted major blood clots in 242 people, of whom 49 died. But they are occurring more in younger adults, with a rate of around one in 60,000 under-40s.

Experts said the infection rate in the UK is now so low that the risk of the rare clots outweigh that of Covid in younger adults, who often only suffer mild illness. They will be offered the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines instead.

That final point is interesting. Does it mean that health officials have calculated that the risk of dying from a blood clot after being receiving the AZ jab is greater than the risk of someone under-40 with no underlying health conditions dying from Covid? To date, 49 people have died from blood clots after being given the AZ vaccine. If we assume that at least a half of the 35 million Britons who’ve been inoculated got an AZ jab (a conservative assumption), that means the risk of dying from a blood clot after receiving the AZ vaccine is ~49/17,500,000.

So is the JCVI saying that the risk of someone under-40 with no underlying health conditions dying from COVID-19 is < 49/17,500,000?

Even I hadn’t realised the risk was quite so infinitesimally small.

Worth reading in full.

BREAKING: All under-40s are to be offered an alternative to the AstraZeneca #COVID19 jab as a precaution.

JCVI chair Prof Wei Shen Lim says people 'should be offered an alternative vaccine where possible and only where no substantial delay would arise'https://t.co/7U0jQd3gIS pic.twitter.com/VmUpJ8lknz

Yes, when referring to any category or group, ALL variants MUST be given equal exposure. Natural history programmes, for example, about, er, dolphins are plainly discriminatory, since they ignore porcupines. And wombats. The underrepresentation of woodlice in films about dolphins is equally disturbing.

“she vowed that 50% of characters and content would be from underrepresented groups.”

So now the ‘underrepresented’ can be over-represented. That sounds about right.

And the previously overrepresented will become underrepresented almost overnight, forcing them to flip the policy, again and again, until the only solution is for all groups to be accurately represented – I doubt we’ll be seeing many queer or pangender characters then!
As a parent, I can see that there are plenty of adults in the creative/entertainment industry pushing our children to consider alternative gender/sexual identities, and that makes me uncomfortable. I see nothing wrong with the old-fashioned “Most people are like this, but a few are different” approach, rather than portraying all options as equally common.
Does that make me xyz-phobic? I don’t think so, but what do I know?

Boycotting is not the same as cancelling. For instance cancelling a controversial speaker at an event means they don’t get to speak, boycotting means no one listens but they still get to speak. As we fund Disney, defunding can only be achieved by boycotting. Therefore nothing to do with cancel culture.

Why change “fuck” to “eff”, Hardliner? I wrote “fuck off”, I mean “fuck off”. It’s not as if I am directing it at a specific individual, is it. It can only be a profanity if it is directed at someone in particular. Otherwise, we go down a slippery slope. I need not talk about wokeness, need I?

For the subject of this article, the phrase “fuck off” is appropriate and not at all disproportionate.

I suppose a wallflower or two reported it… Ah well.

Why not just start doing animated interracial gay and tranny gangbangs and be done with it?

Seriously, that’s what most of their animators produce in their spare time and put on their Twitter accounts. With demons and bestiality in it an such like – calling it anime. When they’re not engaging in actual child porn rings with the rest of Disney’s senior management.

I’m sorry to be so graphic but that’s a literal description of the filth these people produce. Then they set up a pipeline to show it to kids and groom them into their sick, gender-bending, disease spreading lifestyles as soon as they can.

”Don’t say gay”? How about don’t be a nonce.

Yeah, his comments are of that vibe except for the context of what we’re discussing and saying we shouldn’t pay attention to who’s “peacefully shagging” whom.

As if my drawing attention to the problem in question makes me a hater and we should just shut up about perverts grooming children because it means we don’t accept them when they were born that way and they just want to “peacefully shag” in any way they choose.

Nah, I’m pretty sure of myself on this one. Call me a hater all you want, these people are sick and it’s about time we called them out on it. Particularly when they don’t want to just “peacefully shag” – they want to put their sexual deviancy into children’s education and entertainment.

“I’m here as the mother of two queer children, actually, one transgender child and one pansexual child, and also as a leader,” [General Entertainment President Karey Burke] said.

No, you’re not. You’re abusing your children mentally and, if you’re allowing them to mutilate their bodies, physically. ‘Transgender’ and ‘pansexual’ are not categories with any basis in reality. They are made-up categories. Figments of your imagination. A delusion suffered by the mentally disturbed and tolerated by cowards.

Has this Burke character ever been confronted and told she is mentally ill? Has anyone loved her enough, in the true sense of ‘love,’ to tell her the truth? If they had then perhaps she’d have had the requisite love to show her own children so that they might have been spared this diabolical abuse.

Some of her children are adult and able to make their own choices. Pansexual just means “bi” as in you’d shag anything.

Deliberate mental abuse could have been involved, or it could be trauma caused by accident, or they could be perfectly fine and just wanting to experiment. Hard to judge fairly without knowing more.

Some of her children are adult and able to make their own choices.

The context and language used would suggest otherwise, but even granting that, it’s irrelevant to my point. Before they were ‘adults’ they were raised by their mother and shaped by her actions and influence. Right?

Pansexual just means “bi” as in you’d shag anything.

No, it doesn’t. Even if you define bisexual outside of a binary framework and in its more modern, non-categorical sense of ‘attraction to two or more genders’ it is still not ‘definitionally’ as broad as the non-categorical ‘pansexual’.

The fruitcakes often squabble over this, but it doesn’t change the fact that these non-categorical terms are not strictly synonymous.

Deliberate mental abuse could have been involved, or it could be trauma caused by accident, or they could be perfectly fine and just wanting to experiment.

The very act of a mother accepting and encouraging this destructive behaviour is mental abuse.

Hard to judge fairly without knowing more.

On the contrary, it’s easy to judge when you have an objective standard by which to judge.

Disagree. My aunt never encouraged her kid to be trans and it took quite a while for her to come to terms with it. Her kid had been rather odd since a very young age.

Yes, based on the context and language, I’m assuming Burke’s children are not adults. This is not ‘jumping to a conclusion’ based on no prior reasoning. But like I said, and which you’ve swerved, granting that they are adults, it’s irrelevant to my point. Before they were ‘adults’ they were raised by their mother and shaped by her actions and influence.

Disagree. My aunt never encouraged her kid to be trans and it took quite a while for her to come to terms with it. Her kid had been rather odd since a very young age.

I never said that Burke encouraged her children to become ‘trans’ and ‘pan’ (though in this day and age I wouldn’t be surprised), rather my point was that her accepting (which, if you think about it, logically comes before encouraging and implies there’s something to accept, which informs you that I wasn’t saying she first encouraged her children to ‘become’ ‘trans’ and ‘pan’) and encouraging such destructive behaviour is mental abuse.

If a 19 year old child tells their parent they’re gay, is the parent guilty of mental abuse if they choose to accept this?

If you mean ‘accept’ in the sense that they believe it is a legitimate way to live (even if they do not call it ‘good’ and actively encourage it), yes. They would be guilty of allowing their child to remain unchallenged (at least in the case of the parent) in their false and damaging belief/lifestyle. By failing to challenge their child they would be fortifying their mental state of ignorance, albeit from a ‘passive’ position.

But it gets worse. They would be abusing their child’s soul by failing to tell them they are sinning against God by defying his law and rebelling against the created order.

The truly loving thing to do would be to try to convince their child of their sin and need to repent.

Where do I place my bets on the share price of Disney dropping over the next year or two? I also don’t see Disney making much political noises in China over the CCP atrocities there. Funny, that.

You’re completely right. IMHO they’re spineless cowards. Going against the (huge) family audience for a handfull of woke nutbags and the CCP will hopefully backfire on them big time.

The US ‘Democratic’ Party has already started to feel the effects by doing much the same in the political sphere by saying the (lefty) state knows better than parents.

We should all vote with our wallets and avoid any new Disney material – not forgetting they own several ‘brands’ like Marvel, Lucasfilm (ugh) and now 20th Century Studios as well as Pixar (for ‘Lightyear’).

So much for the ‘new broom’ CEO Bob Chapek – he sounds awfully like the new head of the BBC Tim Davie in promising much and delivering little in reality.

Still, at least it means that the likelihood of a GOP victory (and for Ron DeSantis) at the 2024 Presidential Election as well as a wipe-out for the Dems in November’s mid-terms is further improved.

That’s assuming we’re not all wiped out in WWIII or starve/freeze to death because of the idiotic policies of our useless ‘leaders’ continue to make the current global situation worse.

Yes, but clearly it’s the audience that’s the problem, not Disney. They just have to treble-down and keep going. I’m sure the audience will finally relent and get with the programme.

I remember as a young man back in the ’60s a comedian on the TV saying (following the passing of the Sexual Offences Act 1967), “First it was illegal, now they’ve made it legal – I’m emigrating before they make it compulsory”. It took a little longer than I thought, but we’re nearly there.

How does “under-representation” even matter in the world of fiction anyway? It’s like saying that wookies were under-represented in Star Wars – there’s only one in all of the films despite there being a whole planet of them in that ancient distant galaxy! Or that in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s “Cats”, dogs were underrepresented.
Hello… it’s FICTION, make-believe! Does Superman falsely portray reality by over-representing the human ability to fly? (I know he’s actually an alien, but there we go again – over-representation of aliens on planet Earth)
If the world of fiction and cinematography are to consist of little outside a representative portrayal of reality, then it dies a death as a medium of entertainment.

In a strange sort of way, this doesn’t worry me too much.

Firstly, this behaviour is so far detached from the real world it is destined to collide with reality at some point.

Secondly, what drives these people to these insane policies isn’t the thing itself, it’s an unhealthy compulsion to have a mission to transform society. It won’t take long before this is too tame and they need to come up with the next thing. And they will demand that everyone submit to the next insanity. As Hannah Arendt explained so well, totalitarianism ends up devouring its own.

I’m quite happy to sit back and watch these lunatics drive each other forward into oblivion.

Disney is satanic. The entire entertainment industry is neck deep in the mire. The Foo Fighters made a movie, released February 25 this year, called Studio 666, about being possessed by demons, in which Dave Grohl kills all the band members. Then the drummer dies one month later. Get the picture?

How are they underrepresented? They’re severely overrepresented on tv and in films to the point that most new films and tv shows are unwatchable woke nonsense, and I’m not even going to get into adverts that shove woke b.s. down our throats.

Just how popular this all is with the public at large can be seen by the viewing figures for Hollywood’s latest virtual-signalling fest.

Disappointed in Pixar. They seem to have managed to navigate their way through the woke era without too much virtue signalling. Actually liked Turning Red – a fun story about four girls who fancy the members of a boyband. Luca had vague hints of homosexual tension but not overplayed and generally very honest and good hearted. Onward, Inside Out – both good. Soul was incoherent gibberish. That’s my short overview of recent Pixar films.

Burke choked up during Monday, saying the issue hit close to home because of her children.

“I’m here as the mother of two queer children, actually, one transgender child and one pansexual child, and also as a leader,” she said.

No wonder Karey Burke’s children are queer – her word – with her as a mother. I suspect their upbringing has been, well, “interesting.”

At least her genetic line looks like it will go no further so that’s a relief for humanity.

I guess Disney being global could say that they want to reflect the global population, but the job ad I saw was for UK, yet they want people of the “global majority” (by which they mean non-white people of course) which is not in any way at all the UK majority

Any too-large-to-fail company which is way beyond competitive pressure is going to be invaded by people seeking to utilize its resources to further their political agendas. OTOH, I don’t quite understand how Produce gay soft porn for distribution to underage children would qualify as legitimate, political agenda. In any case, it’s a very peculiar contemporary American dream.

Yes, they are all at it to a greater or lesser degree.

One man’s legitimate political agenda is another man’s illegitimate one. I am never quite sure the extent to which any of these tossers believe the crap they come out with or whether it’s just convenience, latching on to whatever the current fad is in order to exercise power over people. For example, I doubt the PM really gives a toss about climate change.

If both your kids are on the queer spectrum, surely one might examine ones ability as a parent rather than ruining a once great company.

Disney, sadly, won’t go broke. However, this clearly shows that there is an agenda at play. Children should be free of all this nonsense rather than being dictated to.
“under represented” is also a nonsense term. 192 countries in the world and within them different dialects, religions, skin tones etc etc unless you account for every one of these in exactly the same manner at exactly the same time then some ‘group’ will be left out.
