According to early data published on Tuesday by the ONS, the triple-vaccinated are 4.5 times as likely to test positive for a probable Omicron infection than the unvaccinated. The double-vaccinated, meanwhile, are 2.3 times as likely to have a probable Omicron infection.
The data from the ONS Infection Survey, while provisional, adds support to the claim that the Omicron variant has significant vaccine evading ability.
Note that this is the probability of an infection being Omicron given a person is infected, so it doesn’t tell us how likely a person is to test positive in the first place. This means it doesn’t tell us that the vaccines are making things worse overall, only that they are making it much more likely that a vaccinated person is infected with Omicron than another variant. In other words, it is a measure of how well Omicron evades the vaccines compared to Delta. The fact that the triple-vaccinated are much more likely to be infected with Omicron than the double-vaccinated confirms this vaccine evading ability.
The data also doesn’t tell us anything about the severity of Omicron, or how well the vaccines continue to protect against serious disease.
It does mean, though, that the current Omicron outbreak is largely an epidemic of the vaccinated and is being driven, not by the unvaccinated, but by those who have been double and triple jabbed. Combined with the fact that Omicron has quickly grown to be the majority of new infections, it suggests the vaccinated are playing an outsize role in the current outbreak.

No pneumonia, no Covid. Apparently, if someone says to you they have (had) “it” because they tested positive for “it”, ask them do (did they) have pneumonia? If that’s all it was, the infection rate in the vaxxed (however many times) would be the same as the unvaxxed.

As an analogy: the likelihood of a positive breathalyser test increases with the number of alcoholic drinks consumed.

With twice as many cases 30-60 in the vaccinated, the vaccine is shooting itself in the foot because the more cases, the more risk of serious illness.
I’m also sure I read somewhere that you’re more susceptible to the virus in the first two weeks of getting the vaccine therefore calling into the question the whole idea of giving everyone boosters at this critical point.

Yep, my triple-jabbed niece has just had a positive covid test after several days of flu symptoms. She just started her dream, highly paid job as well. She also lives in Dublin, where you can’t take a piss without being at least double jabbed and checking in with your pass, so fuck knows who she got it from, considering her boyfriend is also triple-jabbed, as are his parents and all their friends and workmates. Maybe an unvaccinated person “sneaked in” to her work place and gave it to her.
Has anybody notice that the doubling period has not been mentioned lately. With over 100,000 “cases” recorded last Wednesday and a doubling interval of 2.5 days that was claimed we should have seem 400,000 last Monday and would be expecting 800,000 tomorrow.

Can I ask a few questions?
Is the nose constantly seeking out new viruses to keep the immune system upto date?
During a bad bout of flu the body increases and the deceased ones temperature periodically, I assume to assist with the elimination of unwanted viruses etc. Could other rogue cells, such as those that have mutated and may potentially cause cancer, be reduced during this period of temperature increase?
I have noticed that my body, during an illness such flu, reduces all natural pain relief while it is busy dealing with a virus, I have also noticed that when I begin to recover, the natural pain relief is restored and is I would say, more effective than it was previously.
So my question is should we embrace flu and colds and treat them more as a blessing in disguise?
My final question is about blocked noses. It seems obvious to me that if one’s nose has blocked itself up, there must be a logical reason, my thoughts are, to stop any new infection entering until the existing problem has been dealt with. Does this make sense?

Just heard that a previously totally fit, elderly lady- fully ‘on message’ and jabbed to the hilt, has been diagnosed with terminal pancreatic cancer. She has been given six weeks.
How interesting is this really?
If you had 100 unvaccinated and 100 vaccinated and they were both exposed to an “infection causing amount” of Omicron and Delta, then if for arguments sake the vaccines worked against Delta but not Omicron, then you might expect 50 of the unvaccinated to get Delta and 50 Omicron, but 100 of the vaccinated get Omicron.
Given that the vaccines might have some efficacy against the Covid family, all that is really interesting is how well the vaccines are doing against all forms of Covid over a rolling time period (well, only winter is interesting really).
Not interesting at all, but any occasion is good for Dr. Jones to blow his horn and mislead the inattentive.
Frankly, this is what “misinformation” is about nowadays. Rarely lying outright, but mostly calling attention to irrelevant details, hoping for the recipient of the message to arrive at their own wrong conclusions (intended by the messenger). Same techniques applied by MSM and here.

Toddler Vaccine Data
Biopharmaceutical giant Pfizer is exploring the benefits and risks of a third dose of its COVID-19 vaccine in children aged two to five, after early results showed a two-shot regimen of reduced dosages failed to stimulate sufficient immune response. The company said it still plans to seek emergency use authorization in the age group in the first half of 2022.
The doses in the trials are one-tenth of the amount given to adults. Children aged five to 11 receive one-third of the amount of an adult dose; an estimated 20% of that age group has received at least one shot.
Separately, US health officials recommended unvaccinated students remain in school after exposure if they test negative for the virus. Vaccinated students are not recommended to self-isolate.
The news comes as new US cases have risen to an average of 125,000 per day, with hospitalizations near 63,000 current patients (see data). The surge appears primarily driven by the delta variant at the moment—as of last week, the omicron variant only accounted for around 3% of new infections, though officials expect it to rapidly become the dominant strain.

I am not sure I understand this. I can see how the vaccinated might be more likely to be susceptible to omicron rather than delta. That makes sense, even though they’re pretty good at catching delta too.
But why would it be different for the unvaxxed? I can see how they’d be less likely to catch any version of the virus (more likely to have natural immunity, intact innate immune system etc), but why would they be more likely to catch delta? omicron is meant to be more transmissible, and the vaccinated who are doing the bulk of the spread are more likely to be spreading their omicron variants willy nilly, so the two should be broadly similar, surely? Unless the vaxxed and the unvaxxed rarely mix?
Perhaps enough of the unjabbed were exposed to both alpha and delta and so have natural immunity to omicron?
Imagine that you are throwing the same amount of alpha, delta, and omicron at a group of unvaccinated and also a group of vaccinated.
(Exaggerating) the vaccinated group will deflect all alpha and delta, and only omicron will stick to them. While the unvaccinated group will not deflect anything, they will get a mix of all three variants in the proportions you threw at them.
Then you compare what percent of omicron stuck is in each group. Of course you will find a higher percentage of omicron among the vaccinated (100% in this exaggerated thought experiment) and a lower percentage among the unvaccinated (because the other variants that stuck take away percentage points, by pure arithmetics – omicron cannot be 100% there).
I’ve made a lot of predictions in my posts through the years, some of which even came true. However, I am not above admitting when one of my predictions was spectacularly wrong.
Many months ago, I predicted that the PCR tests (that determine a positive “case” of COVID) would be changed once most of society had been vaccinated. My thinking was that the Powers that Be would be mortified and shamed if just about everyone got vaccinated and … cases continued to be sky-high.
Well, by now, 80 to 90 percent of adults in most Western countries have now been vaccinated and cases are through the roof.
In a million years, it never occurred to me that this could happen and would be spun to mean that the vaccines are a spectacular success. Or: That the Powers that Be would say that the vaccines “work” but only if 100 percent of the population gets vaccinated.

Today’s little scene.
I went to the doctor to drop in a ‘sample’. As requested I went in, no-one there except the reception staff. I stood there for several minutes waiting for someone to bother to take notice of me. For those who don’t know me the idea that I’m not noticeable is far-fetched to say the least. Eventually someone began a process to deal with the sample, perfectly pleasantly, if tardy. Having said that, she did ask (contrary to government guidelines) “Are you exempt from wearing a face mask?” I replied politely, “Yes.”
While she was sorting things out another of the receptionists came across and stared intently at the screen with my medical details on it. Another member of the public then came in to the surgery (I know, two people in the surgery at once, what an astonishing workload). Having handed in the sample I was about to leave and this second receptionist approached me and said, “What is your Covid vaccination status?” Note, she knew full well what it is, having just stared at my medical information. Sounds like NHS dentist in pre-COVID times. Of the “I might graciously hand out a favour to you if you humbly beg for that”-kind. Thankfully, I’m graciously capable of paying for dental treatment. I still ended up waiting for the NHS because a special form was needed and the only NHS person specially trained to hand out these special forms was on holiday for three weeks. But that was only a month in (intermittent) pain and not “at least nine months”.
Of course, nowadays, they’re probably going to let you die on their doorstep if you can’t prove that you had all the injections they consider necessary for their own safety.
I think that this is where it’s headed.
If pushed you could play the NHS incompetence card – pretend you have had your jabs and that whoever administered them has buggered up the correct recording of that.

I applaud your restraint and pragmatism in those circumstances but feel the breach of medical confidentiality cannot go uncomplained about. You could also try the “impersonation of a doctor” angle – the receptionist is not medically qualified and cannot advise you what medical interventions to accept, or even try to nudge you in that direction.
It is like they feel so emboldened by the pandemic and their “heroic” status that all of the important rules about how medical data should be handled can just be trampled on and ignored.

I think some people here think the data shows that being vaccinated makes you more vulnerable to Omicron than if you are not vaccinated. They don’t show this at all. They just show that vaccination is not so effective against omicron as it is against delta (well known) and this is more pronounced the more jabs you have (presumably because more jabs give you more protection against delta but have less effect on omicron.) To be fair, Will makes this point – but I am not convinced it has sunk in.
If you look at the table on page 50 of the HSA Week 50 covid surveillance report:

This is somewhat higher than the proportion of over 18’s vaccinated.
I agree that for a short period of time vaccination appears to reduce hospitalisation a bit but there’s no evidence that I’ve seen that it reduces infection. If omnicron becomes the dominant strain it seems likely that the vaccinated may become even more represented in those testing positive.

I have seen that data, and had many debates about it, but surely it is nothing to do with the data in this particular article?
No, but it has everything to do with your suggestion that the vaccines reduce infection in other variants. It seems, based on weeks of these reports they don’t. There appears to be a reduction in hospitalisation but that’s transitory & at the cost of vaccine adverse reactions. It should also be remembered that apart from people with underlying health issues there never has been much risk of serious harm from any variant.
