If the vaccination of children against Covid is given the green light in England, almost nine in 10 parents will be happy for their own children to be included in the roll-out, according to a new survey released by the Office for National Statistics (ONS). Well over 30% of parents said they were “unsure but probably yes” in favour of vaccination. The Guardian has the story.
The survey of more than 4,400 parents with children under 16 and attending school found 88% said they would definitely or probably agree to vaccinate their child, with just 12% saying they would not favour vaccination.
The survey was conducted in April and May, before the Pfizer vaccine was given approval by the U.K. medicines regulator for children aged 12 to 15 at the start of June. The Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI) is expected to advise the Government later this summer on whether to allow children over 12 to be vaccinated.
Professor Anthony Harnden, deputy chair of the JCVI, told the BBC: “JCVI are very aware of the issues surrounding both the pros and the cons of vaccinating their children, which we will talk about in due course, but actually what we need to be absolutely sure is that these vaccines benefit children in some way… so we are looking at this data very carefully.”
But Professor Calum Semple, a member of SAGE, said not enough was known about possible side-effects if children were given Covid jabs.
“Vaccines are safe but not entirely risk-free. We are aware in adults about clots, and there’s some safety data from America showing rare heart problems associated with some of the vaccines. So until that data is really complete for children, I’m not persuaded that the risk-benefit for children has been clarified,” Semple told the BBC, speaking in a personal capacity.
He added: “There’s [a] very nuanced debate going on here but at the moment I don’t think there’s enough evidence to support vaccinating children.” …
The ONS survey found parents with children at secondary school were the most enthusiastic for vaccines, with 53% saying they would definitely support vaccination and just four per cent saying they definitely would not. Nearly 35% of parents said they were “unsure but probably yes” in favour.
Among the parents of primary school-age children, 43% were definitely in favour and 46% were “unsure but probably yes” in favour of vaccination. Just three per cent said they were “definitely” opposed, while a little more than seven per cent were recorded as “unsure but probably no”.
According to the ONS, the most common reasons given by parents opposed to vaccination were that not enough research had been done, or they wanted more information about long-term side-effects or had concerns over vaccine safety.

Michael Curzon pushing the vaccines again. In fact only 43% definites in primary schools and 53% in secondary. ‘Probably’ will change once more stats come out. Healthy kids don’t die from COVID. There is no benefit and only risk.
Almost 90% of British parents need to wake the f up!!
Don’t believe the hype of this. The wording of these polls are so far flung it is basically getting the result you want.
Up to a point I agree with you, but as I posted earlier, regardless of the wording any true sceptic would just say NO. So assuming their numbers are accurate (a big if, granted) then true sceptics represent 10% of the population. That feels about right to me.
Any parent considering giving consent to this abomination is not fit to be a parent.
I certainly wouldn’t have done had my children been minors.
CRIMINAL.
‘Vaccines are safe but not entirely risk-free.’
Isn’t that a contradiction in terms?
I find this incredible, if true. If it’s so I can only say that there are too many ignorant and selfish parents. Can people really be so obsessed with going abroad that they would take chances with their children’s health. I thought it was a parent’s responsibility to put their child’s needs before their own but it’s obviously changed since my children were young. An easy way around this would be to exempt anyone under 18 from any vaccine passports but, of course, that wouldn’t fit in with The Plan.
Having just listened to the latest interview with the Belgian virologist Geert Vandermin Bossche, the more we vaccinate the more we are heading towards super vaccine resistant strains but no-one will even stop to discuss this issue. I wonder how these parents will feel when the goal of stopping us all travelling anywhere regardless of vaccine status is finally revealed!
There’s a very nuanced debate going on here…
Is there really?
Words fail me as to how brain dead and uninformed millions of sheeple are.
I met a university student yesterday who was about to have his first vaccine in two days time.
When I asked him how many had died from covid in the UK he thought ten percent of the population. He was astounded when I told him the real percentage.
Another acquaintance developed Bells palsy after the first jab, which did not remit, then went on to get the second injection.
Fear and distorted perceptions of what has gone on drives many people to do absurd things.
If elections can be rigged then so can polls.
Polls can ask leading questions.. the results can be manipulated..
…and what kind of lard ass bedwetter fills in polls?
Some people do them just to earn beer money…
Not one chance in hell that my son, (who is 13 and has learning difficulties), will be ‘jabbed’. It is ridiculous to be even considering it in under 30’s, let alone children. What happened to the idea of vaccinating the vulnerable? When did this morph into vaccinating every living soul? A friend of mine has a 30 year old daughter with quite severe learning difficulties who lives in an assisted living facility and she refused permission for her to be vaccinated as her daughter is terrified of needles and needs a lot of time to get used to anyone new coming near her- also pointing out that as she doesn’t go out apart from the odd trip with care workers there was basically zero risk anyway. She was horrified and extremely upset to find that it had been done without her permission or even knowledge, the explanation given was that it was done to protect her carers. My friend is distraught and her daughter was unmanageable for days afterwards but has decided to keep the peace and not complain- I understand that she has enough to deal with and has been worn down by all this, but I would have… Read more »
It hasn’t morphed in to ‘vaccinating’ everyone, it was always the goal….last September what passes for a Prime Minister said “No one is safe until everyone is safe”…echoing that sleazy ‘philanthropist’ Gat es and various WHO reps, UN reps.
Diabolical. In the absence of informed consent, presumably at some ‘best interest’ meeting, the medical / care staff and social workers decided it was in ‘others’ best interest that they mentally and physically assaulted your friend’s vulnerable daughter?
What a society we exist in.

Cobblers.
on Mumsnet, home of the Covidians, only about half would vaccinate their children. Still half too many of course, but 90pct is ludicrous.
oh and NO daily mail commenters would.
Time to post this again…
Either the polls are fraudulent or this really isn’t my country any more.
I don’t trust any statistic from the ONS frankly.
Perhaps the alleged 90% should consider the views of this British doctor and father of four. Remarkable to find a practicing NHS surgeon willing to make these comments in public. Finally a medic that still believes in ethics. I fear he will soon find himself suspended – but much credit to him for giving his honest views. Where are his so called colleagues ??????

This is the first time I was aware that ONS conducts opinion surveys. This is unacceptable. Who commssioned the survey? ONS or the Government? Why did they go to ONS? Because they are more credible than YouGov? Opinion can never be fact and if the ONS is being required and paid to undertake a survey, then one has to wonder are they under some pressure. Was the survey commissioned on the basis that it would be made public whatever the result? Or was it only made public after the “satisfactory” result was obtained. Was it part of a wider survey that might have included prompts to fear about Covid?
If any FOI enthusiast wants to follow these questions up with ONS, I think that could be a rich seam.
Vaccines are safe but not entirely risk-free.
They should put that oxymoron on the tombstone of the first child needlessly killed by this very dangerous vaccine (reports suggest 50 times more deadly than the average vaccine).
Anyone notice this?
“The survey was conducted in April and May,”
I would bet that attitudes have now changed significantly, with all the serious side-effects being reported.
The Guardian, of course, would like us to believe that what people believed up to 2 months ago is exactly what they believe now.
This was my assessment also when I read the article. The sentence you quoted imo is the most important in the piece.
Not very good risk managers are they. Also reflects a real lack of understanding in statistics
Evil knows no bounds. Given the uptake by the adult population it’s no surprise that they’d happily jab their own kids too I guess.
I find it surprisng that parents would put their children at such a risk.
Woman (52) DIES weeks after getting her first AstraZeneca vaccine in Australia as debate rages on about the Covid jab’s rare blood clot risks.

I mean ..is it worth it? For a virus with a 99+% survival rate? I know of someone who has had abdominal pain but has chosen to ignore it.
Covid vaccine side effects: Three symptoms following the jab you must not ignore.
PHE warned that if you have any of the below symptoms four days or more after vaccination, you should seek medical advice immediately, these include:

Looks like we’ll have to endure stories of kids suffering from these then. God help us.
I misread the headline as saying 90% of parents would NOT allow their children to be vaccinated, and was pleasantly surprised, as I didn’t expect it to be quite that high. Then I read the article, and realised my mistake as a sadness lay heavy on my heart. I didn’t expect the number of parents who would allow their children to be experimented on to be that high! How many experts have argued against vaccinating children, and there is literally no benefit to them.
I would like to see what the actual wording of the survey question was, as we know that they are often very leading. Maybe it was phrased something like, “If the vaccine was shown to reduce the chances of your child dying, would you let them take it?”. If not, then I am very concerned about this countries children, and our future in general.
They haven’t been informed that they are experimental, and they would choose not to believe you if you told them. There’s no way out of this for them – we can’t do anything about it. Our kids are just the lucky ones.
I cannot fathom why anyone thinks that a child needs this injection – even if they believe in them for themselves. It beggars belief and I am constantly in a state of shock at the stupidity that surrounds us.
Reading this nonsense, what is always missing is exactly what the questions are. Always some imprecise abstract.
Well I am sure the question was a leading one and that the actual % will be lower if this ever comes to pass. But no sceptic would ever answer yes, so I think we now have a good picture of the number of true sceptics – around 10%. That seems realistic to me.
Aware of the issues? Is that the same sort of informed consent briefing regarding the “issues” given when an Adult is Covid injected? i.e its experimental, it hasn’t passed tests, it has killed over 1300 and damaged 900.000 people alone in this country. Those issues?
It will only take one child to die or be seriously injured by this experimental drug and the entire edifice will come crashing down. Its a shame that a young life has to be the martyr to save the rest of the population.
I fear a LOT of children will have to die before anyone notices.
Unfortunately, the MSM will not publicise it if it happens. When there is an increase in the number of deaths this winter across the whole population (which I fully expect), the jabs won’t be blamed – a new variant will be the cause and the unvaccinated will probably be accused of spreading it. Buckle in, it’s going to be a very bumpy ride.
Some parents we have these days.
Just as well to let the kids mix and catch the virus so as to gain natural immunity. Like an old fashioned “measles party”
I was saying that in March 2020
Perhaps I’m just inordinately thick, but the big question isn’t whether this stuff will prove fatal for children shortly after administration. We know that it will, for some, but not how many.
It is beyond any sense that there is no knowledge of what this may do in years or decades hence, or even months.
None of it is either science or medicine, but a bunch of unprincipled criminals sticking the tail on the donkey; and all with exoneration before, during and after commission of this crime.
