If the Lab Leak Theory Turns Out to be True, Will China be Held to Account?

3 min read

Given it’s topicality, I’m giving another plug to this original essay by a best-selling, prize-winning novelist (writing under a pseudonym) about the price we’d be willing to pay if the lab leak theory turns out to be true. Will we just shrug and continue to buy cheap Chinese goods? Here is an extract:

The Western world will have to weigh up what the damage would be to their economies and international relations if they accept the lab leak theory. Because if we do then we will also have to accept that the CCP was involved in a cover-up which turned the contagion in Wuhan from localised outbreak to global pandemic. It would follow from this that the CCP would have to be held responsible for three and a half million deaths worldwide, an act of mass-death, albeit one caused by the ineptitude of China’s bureaucracy and the breaking of scientific safety protocols in laboratories overseen by the CCP.

This would be another historical mass-death caused by the CCP, comparable to the Great Chinese Famine (1959-61) which to this day is still not recognised officially by the CCP as a man-made disaster, and which to this day is not marked by any public remembrance monument even though 10-47 million people died. The CCP has a long history of systemic planning errors and accidents that have a high human cost which the CCP, by use of its one-party state apparatuses, has hidden from the rest of the world.

So, if the lab leak origin hypothesis for SARS-CoV2 turns out to be true, the people of the Western world must then ask, “What is the price that must be paid, and who will pay it? Must CCP governed China be held accountable? Will China be forced to pay reparations for the trillions of dollars of damage done to the economies of other nations in the world, along with compensation for the families of the three and a half million who died from the pandemic. Will there have to be sanctions on CCP-governed China, or regime change in China brought about by the other nations of the world? Will the half a trillion ($) in imports from CCP-governed China have to cease until CCP-governed China admits its error and commits to paying reparations?”

It’s an interesting dilemma. Would Western governments, scientists, corporations, consumers, etc., be willing to boycott Chinese investments, grants, cheap goods, and so on, unless the Chinese authorities admitted liability and paid reparations, given that they’d all be worse off if they did that?

Worth reading in full.

Stop Press: Thomas Frank has written a very good piece in the Guardian asking, ‘What if the lab leak theory turns out to be true?’ He thinks it will fuel a populist revolt against scientific expertise.

If it does indeed turn out that the lab leak hypothesis is the right explanation for how it began – that the common people of the world have been forced into a real-life lab experiment, at tremendous cost – there is a moral earthquake on the way.

Because if the hypothesis is right, it will soon start to dawn on people that our mistake was not insufficient reverence for scientists, or inadequate respect for expertise, or not enough censorship on Facebook. It was a failure to think critically about all of the above, to understand that there is no such thing as absolute expertise. Think of all the disasters of recent years: economic neoliberalism, destructive trade policies, the Iraq War, the housing bubble, banks that are “too big to fail”, mortgage-backed securities, the Hillary Clinton campaign of 2016 – all of these disasters brought to you by the total, self-assured unanimity of the highly educated people who are supposed to know what they’re doing, plus the total complacency of the highly educated people who are supposed to be supervising them.

Worth reading in full.

Let’s add another variable; what was leaked is a terrible GOF bioweapon with untold destructive force deliberately engineered in China for warfare purposes. It sure would explain the responses among practically all government leaders who would surely have known about this from day one through the intelligence agencies, but could not inform their populations as the reaction would have an uncontrollable panic and sheer social disruption (essential workers would refuse to work). This would then also explain their constant lying, dissembling and cover-ups of earlier lies.

Our Government hasn’t the backbone to scrutinise its own “advisers” let alone the CCP. Much easier to tell the sheeple to wear masks than to demand evidence of their efficacy. Just as it is easier to pretend the virus arose in a wet market, and it is complete coincidence that the market happens to be next door to a lab, than it is to stand up to China.

The author writes, “the cornucopia of cheap goods which are the bedrock of our higher standard of living …”
While it is true that the west buys a lot from china, yet it must be said that their cheap goods are regularly of such poor quality that they are arguably not cost effective. Better quality at a higher price is often a better deal.
For the record, 8 have boycotted Chinese products for my entire adult life because of their appalling treatment of humans and persecution of Christians. I even by footwear that is made in the USA.
I have wondered since Feb of 2020 if it was actually an intentional lab leak, that the virus was designed as an euthanasia pill to help rid china of its massive aging population. And they sensationalized the “discovery” of the virus outside the lab in order to retaliate to Trump’s plans to balance trade between the USA and china. Both, after all, are acceptable behaviors to the CCP.

China held to account? By The West? Who are massively dependent on Chinese output. Who have let China invest shed loads and spread their influence all over the globe. The spineless charlatans in charge of the UK, EU, USA, etc. have sold us down the river. In every conceivable way, we are now royally fu*ked!

Knew I’d find it again eventually.

This is a Turkish twatter site that knew about a shipment of the virus from the US to China dated 11 June 2019:

“The coronavirus, which originated in Wuhan, China and spread to many countries in a short period of time, is on the world agenda. As 16 Stars, we announced months ago where and by whom this outbreak would be carried out.On June 11, 2019, we issued the necessary warning on Twitter about the outbreak in China. This information was of course known at the time and we were hesitant to explain it.Then we decided to explain it!It’s always a story. Its coronavirus was manufactured as a biological weapon and flown to China by the United States. It’s not right to write everything down. It’s already being written if necessary. “A startling admission that China is fighting a “biological war” with the U.S. comes from a video made by a top Chinese academic, trying to persuade the Chinese people that U.S.’s day is over, that our system is outmoded and unsuccessful, and that China is victorious.

The professor who made the startling claim that China has won the “trade war, science & technology war and especially the biological war” looks like a heavy-duty insider who may well be part of the team that manages China’s bid to displace the United States as the world’s hegemony.”

We all know it ‘leaked’ whether by accident or not. However, it doesn’t matter. The West are limp wristed weaklins. We are literally putting up with imported terror attacks in our own streets, illegals flooding in, an increasingly authoritative state, increasingly hostile ‘neighbours’ (France/EU), plus countless problems of our own making within our own borders.

Therefore we will do nothing, nothing at all. Anything that is attempted to be done to show that we still have some balls will only create an opposing vigil like love affair with all the loons in the streets with chinese flags eating chinese food and singing their anthem. It is done, China won. Not because they are better but because we are dumb, weak and badly educated.

“If the Lab Leak Theory Turns Out to be True, Will China be Held to Account?”
It is not a theory. It is a hypothesis. If there were some evidence to support the hypothesis, it could be considered a theory. That theory could then be refuted by conducting an experiment whose outcome should be true if theory holds. If the evidence is false, then the theory is refuted.

As always, qui bono from all of this? Who has the means Means, motive, opportunity?

The trade off is not quite as stark. If zoonotic transmission via the wet market is persuasively shown to have been the origin, why was that market open? It was fingered as the cause of SARS1, and the Chinese government promised to permanently close it.

It has always seemed perfectly obvious to me that the virus came from the Wuhan lab.
Probably it was an accident, but not definitely. The problem is that the CCP has always denied this explanation and the world has been too afraid to push the matter.

Shouldn’t the headline read ” Should the Lab Leak theory which this site rejected as conspiracist…etc”

Here’s another headline for six months’ time:

“Now it looks like WEF was directing Covid policy all along the line with a view to introducing a global Digital ID system…”

I’ll say it again:the Nixon-KIssinger China policy was the biggest ever geopolitical mistake made in the last 75 years by any democratic state. No wonder it’s always been celebrated by the liberal-left and globalists so much (why do you think they actually love the opera, Nixon in China – while they hate Nixon?).

No, creating a new front for the Soviets (who were the Big Bad of the era, not China) made sense. The bigger blunderer was the Clinton administration as they were responsible for giving China MFN status, which was a prerequisite for their rise to manufacturing supremacy.

The fact that the novelist has to write that under a pseudonym pretty much sums up the way the CCP operates: like the Mafia with a side order of ideology.

Confusion here between Chinese actions, ‘accidents’ and exploitation, and the perpetrators of the western shit-show.

Whichever – the Chinese come out winners from western responses.

The problem is that it will be impossible to ever prove beyond any doubt the lab leak theory. Whatever hard evidence might have existed is certainly gone.

So there will always remain some plausible doubt. And however unreasonable that doubt may be, those behind all this have demonstrated they have the power to push the narrative that suits them.

The coronavirus lab leak theory will go down in history as another “conspiracy theory” that arrived too late, when an early and aggressively promoted official explanation had already been embedded in the public consciousness.

I doubt it, as Trump was already widely hated, and the boost Biden got from those who only came to hate Trump because of Covid, was cancelled out by the extra voters that Trump got from people who hated lockdowns.

This is as much a question for the US government or its executive as it is for China. Also, frankly, we already know what happened: we should not be in the position of endlessly trying to find out what we already know beyond reasonable doubt. We should ask why all our governments including the British have connived at this charade? There isn’t any point in loading it all on China. It has been a collective war by the global establishment against its citizens.

By the way, ordinary citizens in the west were not consulted by the mass outsourcing of western manufacturing to China; it was done by our robber baron overlords who enriched themselves immeasurably in doing so. This ‘are we prepared to pay the price?’ is specious nonsense.

Indeed — it wasn’t even done to benefit shareholders as to enrich corrupt executives, who could exploit China’s lock of rule of law to rig markets for their own benefit, in a way that they couldn’t get away with in Mexico or Poland or India.

The trouble with holding the CCP to account is that it now seems the gain of function research was originated in the US and then outsourced to WIV. So the US and Fauci in particular are hopelessly compromised.

The Western world really badly needs to look to India, in two ways.

Firstly, because as a poor country that is almost as populous as China (and with the gap closing) it is the obvious candidate if we want to create a “factory of democracy” comparable to the American “arsenal of democracy” that defeated the fascist Axis in World War II.

Secondly, there is a movement against Chinese imports in India that was strong enough to get a law passed requiring conspicious country-of-origin labelling. If we required all Chinese goods to be prominently labelled (perhaps we could require a Chinese flag of minimum size, much like the health warnings on cigarette packets) then it would massively reduce the inconvenience involved in choosing non-Chinese goods — I suspect it is indeed the inconvenience rather than the expense that is the biggest deterrent.

Plus in product categories where China currently enjoys a monopoly, it would make that fact blatantly obvious and alert entrepreneurs to the possibility of a new profit centre if a non-Chinese option could be provided in that sector.

Another useful policy would be to resurrect the TPP trade bloc (that Trump foolishly killed off), and perhaps add even more… Read more »

No is the answer of course.
“All wrongdoing can be traced to an excessive attachment to material wealth.”
I read a piece last year published on 26 July 2020, it was a real eye-opener of a feature in The Sunday Times Magazine before they became another MSM proponent of the “official narrative propaganda publications. The feature was written by one HR McMaster, President Trumps National Security adviser.
Revelatory stuff that certainly got me thinking!. “Inside the dragon’s lair“.
Unfortunately, the full feature is behind the usual Times paywall, although if you’re not a subscriber there is an option to ‘trial’ it. Definitely worth a read especially when you consider when it was published/written…

Sure I read somewhere at the beginning of this in China when they are experimenting, they are required to develop an antidote at the same time in case it escapes and endangers the ‘elite’.

This is a simplistic and highly political article – first the’West’ are almost if not as exploitative as the Chinese – have you been to America lately – it looks like a 3rd world country in parts – plus the US et al. create proxy wars to exploit resources – they starve people as well – the US corporations would love this propaganda sounding article as it would simply gives them even greater monopoly power and looking good – also, ironically, as far as I know it was an American funded lab (Fauci being one involved) which had moved to Wuhan to avoid USA laws -this article is exactly why the issue is a great distraction from the truth we do know – I would question the figure of 3.5 million deaths is as I believe a good many were not caused by Covid (but it was a contributing factor). The focus should be in the litigation going on right now about the use of a non diagnostic PCR test resulting in ‘cases’ which provided an excuse to ‘lock’ down people and caused more death – and also the class actions about to start reflecting loss of livelihoods and great… Read more »

Leaders of countries opposing lockdown sometimes met sticky end, were coerced to go along (Boris caught ‘covid’ just at the right time), or regime-changed (Lukashenko in Belarus – failed fortunately).

All run by the well-known regime change outfit, the Chinese Interfering Agency (CIA)?

They know we know and we know they know we know. They just think they can go on with the propaganda without consequences. There are always consequences. Usually predictable but sometimes unforeseen. ALL the Globalist controlled Western governments are now on their last legs. There is a paradigm shift. Pity we never understand our history, learn our lessons, allowing evil to survive.
