Nigel Farage has accused Labour of “losing control of our borders” after Education Secretary Lucy Powell admitted not every boat could be stopped, on a day where 780 more illegal migrants arrived on Britain’s shores. GB News has the story.
Education Secretary Lucy Powell said “[You] can’t stop everything all of the time”, the day after 21 people were detained when a boat evaded Border Force to reach the beach of Samphire Hoe in Dover.
She told GB News: “Small boat crossings remain a challenge, but we have seen a significant fall this year in the number of people coming across on small boats thanks to the range of measures that this Government has brought into effect.
“It does require a huge range of measures to do that, from dealing with things at source, from tackling people coming here in the first place, from the pull factors, from having strong border security, from having the tough powers that we need to detain to deport people.
“All of these things which this Government has done over the last two years, are starting to bear fruit, with significant falls in the number of small boat crossings and a significant fall in the number of asylum hotels and accommodation around the country as well.
“But more needs to be done and we’ll continue to do it.”
Reacting to the news, the Reform UK leader said: “Multiple boats even arrived undetected. It’s insane! Labour have totally lost control of our borders.
“Reform will put the Royal Navy in the Channel and return every illegal to France.”
Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood, who has ordered an urgent review by the Border Security Command, said the failure to intercept the two boats was “not acceptable”.

Over 780 illegal migrants have arrived in the UK on the worst day recorded since Andy Burnham replaced Sir Keir Starmer as Prime Minister.
A total of 781 migrants arrived in the UK after crossing the waterway.
The cumulative number of arrivals by small boats in 2026 now stands at 18,565, according to provisional figures from the Home Office.
This is down 42% on the equivalent point last year, when the total stood at 32,188.
The latest figures showed [10] boats arrived on Wednesday, which suggests an average of 78 people per boat

The government clearly not prepared to do anything to stop this invasion (actually they’re facilitating it), meanwhile they arrest the only man trying to stop the boats.
And throw him in prison for two years as an example in a matter of days.
Or is that someone else? Why don’t civilians defending our borders call themselves “The Home Guard” ? There is a precedent for this. See 1939-1945.

Which is frankly insane – 2 yrs + in jail for throwing a plastic bottle and shouting at Police.
Meanwhile, illegal migrants (criminals) get free stuff paid for by us and the people traffickers aka, the Home Office, RNLI, the Police just carry on unhindered.
