Imagine if there was a place where you could safely seal away such dangerously Left-wing figureheads as Chris Packham, Stephen Fry, Carol Vorderman, Alastair Campbell and Jess Phillips forever. Some may say there already is, and it is called Hell. Others may say there already is and it is called Bluesky, the Twitter/X rival microblogging site which temporarily boomed in popularity following the Elon Musk-aided election of Donald Trump in November last year. Not wanting to add to Elon’s profits, and desiring to escape the alleged ‘toxicity’ he’d unleashed onto the platform by allowing woke-dissenting viewpoints to be expressed more freely, Left-wing users like those listed above joined a so-called ‘X-odus’ towards its new, kinder and more progressive, rival instead.
Even the Guardian announced it was leaving X for Bluesky for good in November last year, offering the following rationale: “This is something we have been considering for a while given the often disturbing content promoted or found on the platform, including far-Right conspiracy theories and racism. The US presidential election campaign served only to underline what we have considered for a long time: that X is a toxic media platform and that its owner, Elon Musk, has been able to use its influence to shape political discourse.”
So did Twitter’s previous owners, of course, except they sought to “use its influence to shape political discourse” along a Left-wing path, not a Right-wing one, which presumably is okay. In practice,

This article has just sent me down a rabbit hole of a different sort. Viz, “Gosh, is Fat Boy Friday now a meme?” Because it is something I started saying, maybe 20 years ago, when I worked in a West End property firm and on Fridays the young men would head out at lunch time to drink and stuff their faces. I was quite gratified when they started saying it to one another without me prompting!! Is that how it started? If so, reading, above, what it has come to… ugh
If this service is sufficiently valuable for its users, it will survive. If not, it won’t.
I can see no problem with that.
If those with left wing views have to engage with those they don’t like or not engage at all then they have a choice. That same choice applies to libertarians as well. If you’re not into debate then don’t do it, but don’t expect to be able to change the world without it.
Exactly – all these platforms are businesses, primarily funded by advertising, they can do what they like, within the various laws of the countries they operate in… other than that, I really couldn’t give a monkeys what they do or if they go bust. The MSMs obsession with social media has always seemed odd to me – I’m guessing it’s because they’ve grown addicted to harvesting ‘stories’ from there, vs having to employ too many journalists
