This time of year is the green movement’s version of Christmas. For each of the last 30 years (bar one, during the lockdowns), the entire Green Blob has jumped onto the jet planes it claims to hate to assemble at a different hosting country’s largest possible conference centre. The Blobbists are joined by nearly all of the world’s governments, who try to work out the parameters of global agreements on emissions reduction. But this year’s COP meeting – COP29 – started in farce as the President of the hosting country, Ilham Aliyev, told the conference that oil and gas are a “gift from God”, according to the Daily Mail. The only bigger farce is the U.K.’s delegation.
To a cringe-inducing damp squib of applause, Starmer took the stage to announce that: “We’re building on our reputation as a climate leader with the U.K.’s 2035 NDC target to reduce all greenhouse gas emissions by at least 81% on 1990 levels.” And this echoes his statement at an earlier press conference, in which he stated that, “I think it’s very important for the United Kingdom to show leadership on the climate challenge”, and that, “It’s a very important challenge of our time”. But many have pointed out that Starmer’s hopes for global climate “leadership” have been thwarted by the likely absence of his opposites from the USA, the EU, China, India and Germany.

Who do these buffoons work for? It certainly is not the people who voted for them. —At this ridiculous economic conference masquerading as a climate one, America is not there, China is not there. India is not there. Brazil is not there. Germany and France are not there. These are the major economies of the world and where about 70% or more of CO2 emissions come from. The idea that Starmer is prepared to actually increase how much we are already reducing emissions by is totally absurd as this already was having no measurable effect on global climate. If it will have no effect then why do it? —–Because it isn’t and never was about the climate. It is simply a wealth redistribution scheme which is why Marxists like Miliband love it so much. They just love giving away our money and the climate scam gives them that opportunity. CO2 is the Marxist Bureaucrats dream gas as it allows them to put policies in place they otherwise could only dream of.——–Wake up to the eco socialist scam people.
Not just wealth redistribution but impoverishment and increased control of ALL aspects of life for the British people which will be accompanied by population reduction, certainly where indigenous people are concerned and replacement. The real goal is to wipe Great Britain off the map.
Yo—Correct. The list of all the aspects of the scam was too long for me to type out.
Not just a waste of money – but a Labour application of harmful money. Money that does damage to the rest of the economy.
The Curse of Net Zero? Coming to an economy near you.
Wealth distribution is just the effect not the goal.
Britain’s establishment is grappling with a future without the control over the production of oil.and gas that it has historically enjoyed.
The British blob is trying to destroy oil and gas because it doesn’t control it anymore. And whoever does, wields power. If they can’t have it they don’t want anyone else to have it.
All the other participants are the useful idiots of a failed scheme.
Yep prosperity is directly tied to the price and availability of energy. The UN says we have used more than our fair share and must stop using it. ——–“One has to free oneself from the illusion that climate policies are environmental policies anymore. We redistribute the worlds wealth by climate policy” —Edenhoffer UN IPCC. —-Sustainable Development has a whole raft of eco socialist components in it.
I it abit like the 2020 US election. A lot of people looked at Trump decided they didn’t like him and voted for harmless old duffer Biden.
He turned out to be the most left wing destructive administration in US history.
In July a lot of folk voted for sstarmer thinking we’ll he’ll be a bit like bliar or brown – a bit of a nightmare but we need.to teach the tories a lesson.
And now they’re lamenting the most left wing destructive clown car of a government ever, 10 times more malevolently incompetent than any body would have imagined, rushing to implement a raft of insane policies designed to destroy the country as fast as possible before we can work out how to bring them to heel.
You are correct. There can be no other explanation.
Starmer and Millibrain‘s mindset follows the Marxist-Leninist messiah complex.
To summarize it: we, as members of the net-zero (communist) vanguard, will stand in front of the ordinary people and lead them the way to the net-zero (communist) utopia.
We must do this because most ordinary people haven’t yet developed sufficient class-consciousness (just want to keep warm) to realize how glorious this future will be.
We will drag them if necessary to the glorious net zero (communist) future where carbon emissions (exploitation of the proletariat) will be a thing of the past. If a few people freeze to death (die of starvation) in the process, then this is a price we are prepared to pay.
The cars that ate Paris,
This is the title of an old comedy/horror.sci-fi film but even now it may be the cars that eat the climate hoo-haa. Of all the things impacted by net-zero, cars are the one that touches on an aspect of life which, for many, is far more important that the basic aspect of the utility need to travel. Cars have always represented freedom, independence and resilience, all aspects of life that the liberal elite would like to deny to us hoi-polloi.
If you look at you-tube there are a huge number of car related video channels all apparently with huge followings. The politicians are on dangerous grounds when net-zero starts to mess with the car. In this video clip you tuber, ‘Macmaster’, is talking about EV’s. His style may grate with you but it seems popular with many and he has been running an EV for some years and issuing videos of all the problems. In this video he is detailing a possible recall of his EV for battery problems that could be more expensive than the car is worth and thus lead to it being written off. His conclusion is do not buy a secondhand EV, indeed probably best not to buy an EV at all. However successful Trump is in the USA, one effect may well be to set back the EV agenda. If the current EV technology is seen as not up to the mark of delivering net zero it will ‘drive’ something of a hole in the net zero strategy

We in Norfolk are threatened with massive massive solar panel farms through the heart of the fertile countryside and either side of significant communities along the way…the level of destruction to build these ie….concrete, digging up, impenetrable boundary installation etc will make these areas no-go, infertile, and unusable thereafter despite the lead companies promoting biodiversity and harmony as an outcome. They need big sites of >15 sq miles to bypass local government to be signed off by central government first off…ie Ed Milliband so that our say doesn’t matter.
and I bet those tranches of land that get sold off to pay farm IHT will be bought up by same people…for more green energy…
and btw the lead agency of the one development at least is headed by an obscure official gvmnt business of which Milliband is the only shareholder..
terrible terrible
There is currently a massive – hundreds of acres – solar farm being built near us and the southern edge is about a mile away. All you can hear outside, from dawn till dusk, are piledrivers. I am hoping if the airflow changes we might no longer hear it, but it must be horrific for the many houses that are much closer than we are. It is loud! Also the many trucks have already ripped up the edges of the lanes surrounding the site, making them tyre ripping hazards.
This piledriving will go on for months, if not years. Prime Gloucestershire farm land too. It is terrible.
…. from dawn till dusk, are piledrivers…
I assume these pile-drivers are all powered by fossil fuels.
If they are so dedicated to net-zero it should be de-rigeur that no fossil fuels are used in the production and installation of renewable energy infrastructure.
But of course – all machinery, trucks etc powered by good old diesel.
Instead of billions of acres being covered, why don’t they encourage every dwelling to have solar panels on the roof, especially new ones? All the money being sucked up in subsidies could instead go towards grants to help with fitting. This would save the countryside and farmland at least. We haven’t got solar panels, but people we know that have are happy with their performance generally.
They’re solar powered, that’s why they fall silent at dusk!
I’m looking forward to seeing an electric backhoe JCB doing an 8 hour day of hard work!
One good massive hail storm and it will be done for. They do happen.
We can only hope…
This is from an earlier article by Ben Pile. Posted hereabouts back in July.
——————————-
Together, the three proposed solar farms – Sunnica Energy Farm on the Cambridgeshire-Suffolk border, and Mallard Pass Solar Farm and Gate Burton Energy Park, both in Lincolnshire – will have a combined footprint of 6,190 acres, or 25 km2 or 9.7 square miles. Their combined capacity will be 1,350 megawatts. That may sound impressive, but solar power is a victim of the Earth’s rotation and seasonal tilt. This capacity is only ever likely to be reached at lunchtimes, in July, under cloudless skies. Averaged over a year, solar farms in the U.K. only reach around 10% of their much vaunted capacity. That means the 25 km2 of solar farms that Miliband has nodded through will, in all likelihood, have a net capacity of no more than 135 MW. Large power stations, of the kind that have powered Britain’s homes, business and industries, have ratings far higher than this.
And, most importantly, are always on when we need them…
When this ideology meets reality.
Going to be fun.
[2TK is] the leader of a Government that is utterly bereft of ideas, principles and legitimacy
It only looks like this if we think of it as a British government. But in reality the Anti-white Party’s anti-white government is not a government of the British people, for the British people. Nut-zero etc make perfect sense from the point of view of our globalist government of WEFbots – globalists who are dedicated to our destruction as a nation, and our destruction as a people.
If we have a couple of bad winters, the elderly and infirm will die. I revise my prediction that we cannot do anything to save the country as these Misanthropic Marxists are in power for 5 years, BUT, I have changed my mind, I believe they are sewing the seeds of their own destruction, they have attacked the Farmers, they have attacked the elderly, the economy is under the greatest threat since WW2, only the Public sector workers will temporarily thrive, but that will fall apart when the Private sector pips have been squeezed dry, the migration will continue unabated, the Stasi police will hound innocent people.
I give Labour 2 maximum 3 years in Government when the will of the people, the lack of money, and the breakdown in Law and Order in the country will cause this terrible Government to self destruct.
Bring it on,
I said when they got in that they wouldn’t see out 5 years. I hope to God in the highest Heaven that I was right.
You ‘sow’ seeds, not ‘sew’ them
I hope you are right.
What a prize chump, and what a way to tell the world how utterly divorced from reality you are. At least everyone can see this red-faced halfwit and the slobbering oddball Milibrain live in concert.
Yes world, this is what passes for government in Britain now. Watch and wonder.
The UK is a joke.
I am so looking forward to the future when these socialist scumbags start issuing their press releases about the successes of their carbon reduction. They will tell us how many electric tractors have been made (100% of target but actually none). We will hear about the success of the state food production company feeding the nation with vegetables (meat will be banned, unless you are a mate of Starmer) grown on the state owned farms, while the Starmer Stasi are smashing in the heads of people who dare to queue up for food at the empty supermarkets. They will obviously be far right criminals because they are on the streets. Meanwhile, around the world people will be well fed, flying off on holiday, enjoying the latest model car powered by hydrocarbons and enjoying the wealth that comes from the freedom of democracy.
Leave while you still can.
Next up, exit visas and capital controls.
You heard it here first.
I suppose their “thinking” is, after global warming, bognor Regis will become a renowned warm water diving resort a bit like sharm el shaik is now, but without the threat of Islamic terrorism.
Oh hang on a minute…
It took Marxist-Socialist Labour about about 20 years after their “landslide win” and mandate for change in 1945 to ruin the British economy… unaffordable, profligate public spending, trade union dictatorships, inflation above 20%, wage inflation running at 14%, mortgage rates 16%, corporation tax 46%, bottom tax rate 35%, top 83% with 15% super tax in investment income, daily strikes, business closures, brain drain, power cuts, enormous debt piling up.
It looks like the current Marxist-Socialist Labour wrecking crew will achieve economic ruination within the span of the first Parliament.
And the Conservatives who came in and out of Office did nothing to reverse the Marxist-Socialist policies, save for Margaret Thatcher who dismantled State ownership of industry (but not health, railways, education), and curbed the power of the unions, but otherwise the Marxist-Socialist project rumbles on.
The Conservatives since the war have never been the opposite, the antithesis to Labour’s Socialism they adopted it, nor it is likely they will change whoever leads it.
So who then? Reform UK? I am not convinced. The UK needs radical structural reform – ie abolish the welfare state, return public services to the private sector whence they came, get Government out of the economy, do away with fiat money, repatriate “immigrants” who do not share our cultural values and/or do not make a net contribution to the economy.
Just trimming around the edges is no bad thing, but is not the long term solution.
If they are really concerned about the climate they would not have flown to Baku instead they would have held the conference online!! Hypocrites!
It has often seemed to me that for these people the hypocrisy is part of the deal.
They are so important and we are such serfs, the rules are for the little people.
Shh! Don’t tell Starmer, no one is listening or following his “leadership” He may as well be talking to an empty room
Busy, wasting more of your hard earned money. I could just weep.
“…you’ll have a British Government representing you that believes in doing its bit at home and leadership abroad.”
They in no way represent me. They are an embarrassment.
With a large amount of obfuscation, politicians like to talk about ‘Energy’ when what they really mean is the smaller subset of Electrical Energy. So they can tell us how much ‘Energy’ the wind turbines and solar farms are producing and how, on certain days the country is running entirely on renewables. Conveniently forgetting about the country’s continued reliance on hydrocarbons to keep the country running, even on a windy, sunny day. There’s a useful document here: https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/media/664c827ff34f9b5a56adcb5d/UK_Energy_in_Brief_2023.pdf which gives the basic data. Page 15 is particularly interesting. It shows the proportion of UK Energy supplied from low carbon sources. Of the 20% headline figure, just 4.8% was provided from wind and solar in 2022.
Let’s hope our Nigel can ask some very serious and searching question of 2-tier Kier at the next PM Questions. What 2tK has supposedly committed the UK to is extremely serious, and has had zero parliamentary scrutiny or oversight. And if 2tK makes the same claims inside the chamber, he’ll be wilfully misleading Parliament, a very serious state of affairs.
Anybody else notice that Mad Ed only talks from the right side of his mouth? The man is literally in the throes of a heart attack / nervous breakdown / admission to a rubber bedroom. God help us all.
