A Left-wing pro-Palestine activist who claimed to be black and of Palestinian descent has been revealed as a white Jewish woman from an Israeli settler family. The Telegraph has the story.
Hannah Gann, a teacher at The Workshop School in Philadelphia, had been a local pro-Palestine activist.
She claimed she was sending money to family in the Palestinian territories and a former classmate alleged she used make-up to pretend that she was black.
She was outspoken in her community on the subject and had previously been accused of antisemitism.
Videos online showed Gann’s involvement in local Palestinian activism, including in a session on ‘scholasticide’, the destruction of educational infrastructure, in Gaza.
Gann’s true identity was exposed over the weekend when two local activist groups of which she had been a member released a joint statement claiming she had been lying about her identity and cut ties with her.
“Members met with Hannah and questioned her about her background on Thursday, and after an hour of discussion, Hannah finally admitted she lied,” the Racial Justice Organising Committee (RJOC) and Philly Educators for Palestine (PEFP) wrote on Facebook.
The joint statement said: “We asked her to publicly acknowledge that she is a white woman of Jewish heritage and an Israeli settler family.
“We will no longer work with Hannah, and she will no longer be welcome in any of our organising spaces.
“We recognise the profound harm this has caused; Palestinians whose identity and struggle were appropriated, the Black community, young people, organisers and organisations whose trust and resources were exploited.”
In 2015, Rachel Dolezal, a civil-rights activist, was outed as white by her parents and resigned as president of a branch of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People.

How bigoted of these Left-wing activists not to accept Gann’s self-identification as Palestinian and black. Maybe that was her mistake: if she’d identified as a black Palestinian man they would have been obliged to endorse her fantasies.
