What About Purging Your Own MPs, Kemi?

Kemi Badenoch is ditching Net Zero-supporting candidates – but 51 of her own MPs are still signed up to the Green Blob-funded Conservative Environment Network. So when will she do something about it? asks Paul Homewood.

2 min read

Kemi Badenoch says she wants to purge would-be MPs who back Net Zero. According to the Telegraph:

Kemi Badenoch has rejected former Conservative MPs as candidates for her party at the next election because they support Net Zero.

The Tory leader has refused to allow back former members, including MPs who lost their seats at the 2024 election, who disagree with her policy shift.

Under Mrs Badenoch, the Conservatives have rejected the target to achieve Net Zero by 2050 and pledged to leave the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR), in order to better protect British borders.

Writing for the Telegraph, Mrs Badenoch says she is building a “party for the future”, not a “retirement home for failed politicians”.

The Telegraph understands that several former Conservative MPs have been rejected as candidates for the next election for refusing to align with her views on Net Zero and Britain’s membership of the ECHR.

Never mind potential new MPs – what about existing ones who have backed Net Zero in the past and continue to do so?

Fifty-one of her sitting MPs are still listed as members of the Conservative Environment Network (CEN), including the Party Chairman, Kevin Hollinrake:

The CEN has long been a supporter of and campaigner for Net Zero. Its website still states among its principles:

We believe that man-made climate change threatens our prosperity and that the UK should end its contribution to climate change by mid-century through affordable, fair, and market-based policies.

Excellent article. Unfortunately Blake Stephenson happens to be my MP. I have written to him in the past about the conflict of interest between him and his leader asking whether he is going to resign from the CEN but answer came there none!

How about purging all the MPs about to go on “holiday”? Is it really necessary to have over 600+ MPs to represent 60 million people? Bizarre.

Badenoch is an anchor baby dumped on us by her African mother. She leads a party choc full of Liberals and has no chance to progress it. All thanks to Cameron.

It’s surprising that Esther McVey supports this tosh. Thought she had more sense.

Yeah, I thought that too!

Honestly, I think there are only 2 solutions to saving the Conservative party.

1) Kick out all the Socialists, and adopt proper conservative principles or policies, or

2) If that is not feasible, start a new real conservative party.

The Republican party in US needs to do the same, both are being destroyed by RINO/CINO and deep state socialists in the organisations.

The replacement party already exists. It would do even better if the snide comments and unconcealed hated for its leader could be suppressed by the commentariat.

Where there exists the mental illness TDS there is a similar disease called FDS. This colours many opinion pieces about him but it is true he does not help himself and doesn’t take kindly to being advised. Apparently it was completely obvious that none of the Uniparty members would stand a candidate in Clacton – well, it is now of course. And how anyone expecting to be taken seriously can totally overlook the huge turnout in Makerfield which quite clearly was an anti-Two Tier vote.

I totally agree with you regarding the replacement party, I just get so frustrated by all of the missteps from Reform. Their candidate selection for the locals was abysmal. I know you can’t ensure every foot soldier is ready, but some of the examples of the individuals who became council leaders are shocking. Those people should have had proper training so that they knew in advance what procedures are and commitment would be required. Equally, I hope that any being considered for the general election are now being prepared.

As far as the leadership is concerned, some are excellent but I often get frustrated by Farage. His speech the other night was excellent but should have been made weeks or months ago, rather than the none of your business nothing to see here denials. If he had pointed out that security for ex-prime and cabinet ministers runs at £2.5 million per annum, the money he got to fund his security is relatively cheap.

The other financial shenanigans are more concerning and I wonder why they accept the cash, whether it is clean or not, they must have known it would become a bear trap for them to fall… Read more »

The by-election is a very smart move.

He wins huge. It buys time. After August 13th the uniparty standards committee will convict him of some idiotic made up transgression. There will be a 2nd by-election that they can’t ignore and they will lose by a landslide. After that the entire fracas is obliterated.

He did nothing wrong and followed the rules.

Surely Reform already represent Step 2? If not, in what ways?

Be careful what you wish for, 51 ‘Tory’ MPs defecting to the Lib Dems would make Davey the leader of the opposition – as a scary thought that’s up there with Burnham and Milliband.

Well maybe but the Tories are not any kind of “opposition” in my mind. Much of what they criticise is just a continuation of things they did or acquiesced to when in office.

It’s sad to say but since John Major and the monster Michael Heseltine gained prominence in the Tory party it’s been a long slide into lies, deceit and more lies. They are beyond help and to put it simply, looking at most of the leaders since then they have all been quite beyond what can honestly be called decent. But the worst in this period IMO are Cameron, May and Johnson. I have always been sceptical about Johnson but I gave him some slack, although never voted for him, hoping that I was wrong. Sadly his reputation as a lying, deceitful buffoon has proven to be correct and it’s amazing that he is listened to by anyone. He would be better suited to occasional appearances on the Muppets.

Bit this article is interesting and it would be interesting to have the above list of Tory crackpots cross referenced to see if they are remainers.

Kemi is wasted in the Tory party and it would be nice if she came out honestly and state clearly that the British establishment is rotten to the core.

Why is she wasted. That suggests she is not just like them. Worse, she was part of the Tory governments that did all those bad things.

Fair comment, but as Liz Truss has said in her blog.I paraphrase, Being in a government does not necessarily mean that they know the ins and outs of the machinations going on behind the scenes, Even she as Prime Minister was hounded out of office and the system was rigged against her. The Fabian Andrew Bailey being a prime mover behind the scenes.

Interestingly I am at this moment listening to Ann Widdecombe who said that she had become completely disillusioned with the whole process. She as you probably know was a minister.

So they didn’t know the in’s and out’s but they merrily marched to the whips bidding. Spare no sympathy for Badenoch and Truss.

I had to log in again this morning. The DS security message never did clear. The site seems very slow.

Has it been under attack and if so do you know which branch of Uniparty doesn’t like what you do.

If she was seriously building a genuinely Conservative Party which was “under new management,” she’d kick the following out of the Party:

Cameron, May, Johnson, Sunak, Gove, Osborne, Hague, Major, Hunt, Hammond, Mitchell, Goldsmith, Wallace, Barwell ….. and a great many more LibCONs.

Instead, she’s Gove’s protege and is being trained by Cameron.

Meet the “under new management” CONservative Party …… same as the old CON Party.

Harriet Cross MP is another on the list that ought to resign from CEN or give up her seat which is in Aberdeenshire where the Net Zero policy has decimated the oil industry. Bet her constituents are not aware of her thinking.

Remember Sadam in the South Park movie “But I can change I can change”
Thing is many will still fall for it despite being betrayed and abused for around 25 years by the Uniparty.

Very good point, Paul. And that’s only the first of many atonements she needs to make to show genuine contrition for the appalling overreach of her party in the past.

Tory centrists are already defying Badenoch’s red lines on Net Zero and ECHR.

Never forget that the first utterances by the Nigerian Olukemi Adegoke in the British House of Commons were all about what she would do for her homeland Nigeria where she was raised. The only plus in her background is that her mother did not come here as a health tourist to sponge of the British taxpayer funded NHS but used a private hospital for the birth before going back home.

I have a hunch. She’ll be gone before next election after she has fronted for a “reformed” Tory Party, fooled enough voters, and be replaced by one of the Old Guard.

If someone does something by mistake or because they were misinformed then an apology might be accepted. In business and most private life that is what happens most of the time.

The Tories are not in that position. Their bad policies were wilful and often in direct opposition to their election promises. There was also the repetition of wrong over a wide range of policies.

To now claim they really, really are sorry and recognise their error would be unconvincing. It is also unforegivable.

For the Tories to now say they support (believe in) so many policies directly opposite to 30 years of evidence would be like David David demanding strict censorship or Jacob Rees Mogg calling for widespread nationalisation.

The Tories failed so badly and wilfully there is no longer a place for them. Most of their MPs, including my own, should go to the LibDems.
