Last Monday, the Daily Sceptic revealed how the Met Office claims of “record temperatures” during the recent heatwave were more likely the result of poor siting than climate change. The highest temperature occurred at one of its Class 5 junk stations, Santon Downham in Norfolk.
The same day, the Met Office belatedly discovered an even higher temperature during the hot spell three days earlier. A private back garden in Lingwood near Norwich had, we were assured, recorded a temperature of 37.7C.
It will come as no surprise that Lingwood is yet another Class 5 site, and for very good reasons, as we shall see. According to the rules laid down by the World Meteorological Organisation, Class 5 sites can overstate underlying temperatures by as much as five degrees and therefore should never be used for climatological purposes.
I have since been able to obtain some photographs of the Lingwood site from a friend who lives nearby. They reveal just how bad the siting is there.
The aerial Google shot below indicates the Stevenson Screen. It is surrounded on three sides by very tall hedges and to the south by a thick bank of trees. These act as a perfect suntrap – the sun heats the garden, but the trees and hedges prevent air circulation from mixing the air.
It is precisely the same phenomenon that makes the Centre Court at Wimbledon so iconic.

But the MET Office needs even more to be held to account for the barefaced lies and distortions they have been promoting for over twenty years, to assist their Uniparty masters’ scam.

I get it that the weather station at Lingwood is not well sited. That it’s ‘class 5’ and not to be trusted.
But calling that someone’s overgrown back yard is derogatory. It looks like a garden I’d be delighted to own.
Fire everyone at the Met Office – especially the management – and create a National Weather Service making sure to vet staff for any lefties trying to sneak in.
What fire someone for not doing their job properly? Holding them to account…?.. you can’t do that in the UK. That’s what makes it so great….. oh…..
As the temperature rises the barometric pressure falls, someone needs to explain that one to me.

The one thing that is becoming clear is that these “records” are occurring at different places in different regions of the country: north, east and south. This is not climate, but a desperate attempt to sustain a fading narrative.
