A woman who waived her anonymity over an alleged rape in a Greater Manchester Police cell claims Andy Burnham sent her “from pillar to post” and has dismissed his commissioned review as “a PR stunt”. Zayna Iman, 41, says Burnham has failed to deliver on his promises to oversee a full investigation into the alleged 2021 assault. The Telegraph has the story:
Andy Burnham has been accused of failing to hold “predatory” police officers to account over a woman’s alleged rape in custody.
Zayna Iman, who waived her right to anonymity in an attempt to bring the alleged perpetrators at Greater Manchester Police (GMP) to justice, told The Telegraph she felt Mr Burnham had let her down after saying he would help her.
Although her decision to speak out led the Mayor of Greater Manchester to commission an independent review into the treatment of vulnerable women in custody, she said the review was “a PR stunt” to help with “damage limitation”.
Ms Iman claims she was drugged and sexually assaulted in a cell while in custody at a police station in February 2021.
Shortly after she had gone public with her claims in July 2023, Mr Burnham commissioned Dame Vera Baird KC, the former victims’ commissioner, to carry out an independent review of the treatment of vulnerable women in custody and referred her case to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC).
Mr Burnham also issued a statement giving the “assurance” that her case would be “fully, properly and independently” reviewed, adding: “I will be overseeing things to ensure that everything is fully investigated.”
But Ms Iman told The Telegraph that she felt let down by Mr Burnham, whom she first contacted more than five years ago, shortly after her alleged ordeal at Pendleton police station in Salford.
Rather than help her get to the bottom of what happened, she claimed he had sent her “from pillar to post” and tried to “minimise” the damage because failures by GMP “directly reflect on him”.
As the Mayor of Greater Manchester, Mr Burnham is responsible for GMP, and is in charge of holding its chief constable to account.
“He said he would help me every step of the way to get what I wanted,” said Ms Iman, 41, who is still battling to get hold of all the footage of her time in police custody, five years on. “It was lip service. He’s not delivered on any of his promises.”

I am a tad cynical as she was photographed fully made up and with expensive high heels slingbacks on when she was posing for the camera.
This happened FIVE YEARS AGO, so why is it suddenly in the news now, to distract attention from the Beheaders, Throat-Slitters and Eye-Gougers?
So why did police arrest her in the first place? Because a “friend” called 999 to say they were worried about her being “high on cocaine”. What???!!! If that’s an “Emergency”, we’ll have to set up an entire new police force just to deal with millions of cocaine users.
So because the “friend” and Muslim Zayna were Protected Third World Ethnics, police duly went to the woman’s house and wasted an hour talking to her through the letterbox, because she refused to open the door. When they finally gained entry, she promptly snatched the glasses off one of the policewomen, and was arrested for assaulting a police officer.
The rest of her story may well be true, but the whole episode is the fault of her “friend”, and this resurrected news item from five years ago is just an attempt by the mainstream to distract public attention away from the Third World Invasion and Destruction of this beautiful land. I wonder if her “friend” was in fact her Pakistani Muslim father, who had a Pakistani Muslim “understanding” with certain Pakistani Muslim police officers to “teach his westernized daughter a lesson”…and maybe that’s why it was all covered up, and she doesn’t know, because they made sure she was unconscious with a “date-rape drug”.
And maybe that’s why Andy Burnham doesn’t want to touch it with a barge pole.
She alleges one of the officer who assaulted Jackie Berkeley in 1984 is still a serving officer, because that officer was assigned to her own case in 2022.
That doesn’t seem to add up. That officer would have *minimum* of 38 years service in 2022. That’s also if that officer was brand spanking new in 1984.
I’m not questioning specifically what happened to her or to Jackie Berkeley, but would a brand spanking new officer involve themselves in a rape at a police station?
She says they are still serving now. That means they have *at least* 41 years service. The longest serving officer I knew had 37 years. They are a rare thing indeed.
Good points. She and everyone else appear to be assuming that the rapists were White Police officers, but where’s the motive? And they surely wouldn’t have left her unclothed with so much cell camera evidence. Only her own Pakistani Muslim male relatives would have a motive for wanting her “punished”, naked and humiliated, all recorded on camera, and only Pakistani Muslim police officers would have willingly assisted them in so horribly punishing her. Did she refuse to marry her elderly Pakistani Muslim uncle or cousin, or what?
Who but a Muslim relative would ring 999 to report her as “high on cocaine”?
And numerous reports said that some of the Pakistani Muslim Rape Gang victims were also raped by Pakistani Muslim Police Officers.
Something isn’t right with this allegation.
i find it extremely difficult to visualise the circumstances of some officers (not just one – she does say “perpetrators”) going into a cell and raping a female detainee. I can visualise a copper trying it on with a female defainee in her cell and getting a shag out of it, but an actual rape with several officers involved – in 2021? In a custody facility with full cctv? Where a 4½hr segment of cctv covering the period of the recording goes ‘missing’? With tamperproof cctv recording systems? With a custody sergeant in charge of the facility? With other detainees within earshot? With other officers coming and going to see their own prisoners?
I wasn’t there, so I don’t know what happened. I can say that anyone carrying out this crime would have been taking an ENORMOUS risk.

The awkward truth is that very few Ethnic African women have ever been raped in Britain or anywhere in the West, because Ethnic European men do not want to rape them.
