A new report from the Climate Change Committee (CCC) has warned that the British way of life is under threat from climate change. According to the press release:
The Climate Change Committee (CCC) today publishes 'A Well-Adapted UK'. This new report sets out a comprehensive package of solutions to address the growing impacts of climate change affecting every aspect of life in the UK.
The country’s independent climate advisors identify better cooling, flood protection and a more secure water supply as the most critical priorities to protect the UK from the three biggest climate risks – heat, flooding and drought.
We are already seeing disruption today and without action these risks will escalate. By 2050, 92% of homes are likely to overheat, peak river flows will be up to 45% higher and water supply shortfalls could exceed five billion litres per day.
The cost of inaction is far greater than the cost of acting now. The Committee’s proposals require investment of around £11 billion a year, split broadly evenly between public and private funding.
Without adaptation the cost of climate change to public welfare is predicted to rise to between 1-5% of UK GDP by 2050 under a 2°C global warming level, equivalent to £60-£260 billion per year.
The report specifically claims that by 2050:
- Heatwaves could regularly exceed 40°C and reach 45°C
- Record hot summers like 2025 will be the norm
- There will be a growing flood risk
- Storms will have

It is difficult to credit that those in power take this stuff seriously. Even Labour politicians went through our education system Surely they can see the irrationality behind Net Zero and its disastrous economic consequences?
So we have to pay £11billion a year to cope with climate change. I thought all these windmills and solar panels were supposed to stop climate change. We have paid plenty for them already.
I suppose it is the climate change from dreadful places like China and the EU that we are getting, not our own. The £11billion must be to build a wall around us to stop it getting in. That would do better than the stupid woke ideas that the Adaptive Committee have. Keep Putin out too.
Has anyone pointed out that in 2025, Ayrshire, Scotland did not have a hot, never mind a very hot summer. Today Saturday 23 May it is cool with a strong westerly breeze and 14’ but feels like 10’. Compare with Southampton. Apart from never believing the CC nonsense, and recalling the years we were supposedly heading for another Ice Age, I have little sympathy for those who seem hellbent on terrifying young children.
CCC and independent is an oxymoron.It is perfectly clear from the resume and positions of the members that they have been appointed to promote government policy.
AGW or climate change is a tool for control.
But… a care worker in an old people’s home was interviewed by the BBC and she said that there was a definite climate change, because she noticed it was getting warmer….;).

Heat is so terribly deadly, and yet the actual death rate is higher in the winter.
The British way of life is certainly under threat, but not from this nonsense which is just the latest hobgoblin conjured up by those who would wish to subjugate the public and keep them in a permanent state of alarm from which Big Government can “rescue” them.
For a price, of course – that being their civil liberties and financial security.

Looking at their list of bullet points, aren’t they falling foul of the definition of things like heatwave? Isn’t it supposed to be more than a long term average for a given duration? Same as most meteorological statistics. E.g. “Record hot summers will be the norm” is oxymoronic; it just means that the norm has moved, but it always has done – it has never been stable, taking the long view.
