The RAF Cadet Suspended for Naming Islam as a UK Security Threat Should be Immediately Reinstated

The RAF is now so utterly woke that a cadet has been suspended from his officer training course for naming Islam as a security threat to the UK. How did we reach this point, asks Julian Mann.

3 min read

How has it come about that an RAF cadet has been suspended from his officer training course for saying that Islam is the main security threat to the UK? The wokification of the RAF is the obvious answer. But what has allowed that to take place?

The current head of the RAF is Air Chief Marshall Harv Smyth. Last August he took over from Sir Rich Knighton, who has become Chief of the Defence Staff. Air Chief Marshall Smyth actually has a distinguished combat record. Joining the RAF in 1991, he spent 15 years as a frontline Harrier pilot and weapons instructor flying hundreds of operational missions over Bosnia, Kosovo, Serbia, Iraq and Afghanistan.

What is behind the trend in military leaders shortening their Christian names? Is it because they want to make themselves look ‘modernised’, in New Labour parlance? Are they imitating the public-school-educated former Labour Prime Minister Anthony Blair, who reportedly told his first cabinet meeting in 1997 “call me Tony”? If so, it would go a long way to explain why they are easy prey for Left-wing bureaucrats in the Ministry of Defence wanting to impose wokery on the Armed Forces.

Air Chief Marshall Smyth ought to order the immediate reinstatement of the cadet who made the comment, which reportedly occurred during a question-and-answer session in a training exercise at RAF Cranwell in Lincolnshire just before Easter. But such an intervention is unlikely because Harv Smyth got himself promoted under the Blairite Conservatives when ‘heir-to-Blair’ David Cameron was Prime Minister, becoming an Air Commodore in 2015.

The story as reported by the Mail had the usual retired general (or in this case rear admiral) commenting from his armchair on the latest outbreak of ‘progressive’ dogma in the Armed Forces. Despite the matey shortening of his own Christian name, retired rear admiral Chris Perry spoke intelligent good sense. He said:

If I’d asked that question [What are the main security threats to the UK?] and got that answer, I would have also asked the cadet to expand on his thinking and got some critical thinking going rather than suspend him. Clearly Islamic extremism is the issue and not Islam, but how are young people expected to develop critical thinking around these complex issues if they are shut down in this way? This is the fault of a system that is training its young people but not allowing them to express themselves and develop their thoughts. Any mature educational establishment should do just that.

He added rather pungently:

If this cadet had answered ‘the far Right’ I doubt he would have been suspended.

Indeed. But the problem is that rear admiral Perry is retired. What should happen is that the Defence Secretary, John Healey, should summon Air Chief Marshall Smyth and demand that the cadet be reinstated.

But for obvious political reasons there is about as much chance of that happening as Sir Keir Starmer answering a question from Leader of the Opposition Kemi Badenoch at Prime Minister’s Questions.

Julian Mann, a former Church of England vicar, is an evangelical journalist based in Lancashire.

Christ, these traitorous, oikophobe woketards in positions of leadership are everywhere, and what do they all have in common? Here’s another one. Completely authoritarian, you can tell this guy’s bent over for Islam. The paedo-worshipping death cult is beyond reproach, seemingly;

”All criticism of Sharia or Islam will be reported to the police, according to French mayor of Marseille Benoît Payan.
“From now on, we will no longer accept this town council becoming an accusatory tribunal for Muslims. From now on, I want to make it very clear that I will be asking for every word said in this Chamber about Muslims to be scrutinized by a lawyer.”
“I will systematically report all comments because racism is neither an opinion, nor what you have just said about Sharia law, for example, is a crime.”

It’s why a lot of us left the RAF. Yes, it wasn’t quite this bad then, but many could see where it was headed. There were subtle hints as to the direction of travel. I and many like me were good at our jobs, we loved the RAF and we genuinely lived the life. They destroyed it however, so we left and took our skills and work ethic elsewhere – to much greater financial reward.

Yes, I can certainly see how the attrition rate within the armed forces as a whole would be cause for concern and it’s perfectly obvious why it’s happening. And yet they *still* cling on to this woke/DEI bollocks, which is hugely detrimental across the board. Why aren’t the men at the top who are running the show opposing this damaging nonsense?
Meanwhile, somewhere in Ukraine;

”A future of drones and robots fully participating in war, absent any humans on the frontlines, is being driven by the war in Ukraine. Now, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, which now has millions of drones at its disposal, wants to remove human soldiers entirely from logistic roles and keep humans as far from the front as possible by replacing them with robotics.

“The primary mission currently is to fully address the front’s need for ground robotic complexes and ensure their rapid integration into combat units,” writes a statement from the ministry on its official website. “These systems have already proven their worth by performing essential logistics and evacuation tasks, with the military completing more than 9,000 missions using such platforms in March alone. The ultimate objective is to convert up to 100% of… Read more »

On that note: Your chances of coming across a robot chasing wild boar are always low but never zero.
Personally, I find those robodogs pretty freaky, especially if they can both speak and shoot you;

”A humanoid robot named Edward Warchocki in Warsaw, Poland chased away a herd of wild boars, causing them to flee into the forest. The robot, equipped with artificial intelligence, has become an internet sensation in Poland.”

Are the drones a response to the fact that the Ukrainians have lost so many people of fighting age on the battlefield or scarpered abroad to avoid the proxy Russian regime change war?

The people at the top, and it’s probably mostly men I guess but don’t know, are the most politically skilled people in the org – they’ve got to the top by being skilled at politics, not by being good at military skills… hence why DEI bollocks etc is still there, they introduced and supported it…

None of those. The correct answer is Far Right Nationalists.

I’d have thought that the greatest threat to the United Kingdom would be the SNP who espouse both nationalist and socialist ideologies – not a great combination.

Yes. I recognise that’s not a security threat in the conventional sense.

Haha, I like her style. She’s been banned from entering the UK to attend Tommy’s next rally, so she’s now going to come via a small boat. Should be interesting;

”I’m coming to England on a boat. They can try to ban me, but they cannot ban the TRUTH. See you on May 16th.”
