If there is anything good in the latest report to emerge from the Tony Blair Institute for Global Change (IGC), it is nothing that wasn’t pointed out many times many years ago by the likes of the Global Warming Policy Foundation and Net Zero Watch, among others. I have reported here on four earlier interventions from Blair’s IGC, each of which have been presented as a “devastating blow” or something similar against Ed Miliband. And this is now a fifth in little over a year. However, the welcomes that these reports receive have seemed to miss what they actually say. And this latest is no exception. Tony Blair remains the problem, not the solution.
The Times picked up the story, running the headline: 'Tony Blair urges Ed Miliband: Don’t be ideological on Net Zero — drill.' “On this Tony Blair is right,” said Conservative leader, Kemi Badenoch on X. “Labour’s ideological Net Zero dogma is leaving Britain exposed to energy shocks, higher bills and global instability.” The context of the story being of course the fate of the Rosebank and Jackdaw oil and gas fields, committed to by the previous government, but which are at risk under Labour’s election promise not to allow any further North Sea development. These are promises which are increasing political tensions in the wake of the Iran crisis plunging energy markets into disarray.
But the political maxim that holds in such times is 'never let a good crisis go to waste', and Blair and his minions

Electricity is a secondary energy source – it needs primary energy sources to produce it. Energy is NOT “renewable” – explicit in this nonsensespeak is that perpetual motion is a reality.
Fossil fuels or nuclear as primary energy sources to produce electricity are reliable, wind and solar are capricious. The flow of electricity into the grid must be continuous to maintain the grid, it isn’t water that can just be turned on and off.
Of course the whole electrification process has a single point of failure. It requires vast amounts of copper for wiring, components, motors, batteries, equipment, appliances, etc.
Vast amounts of copper require even larger amounts of copper ore. It is estimated about 700 million tonnes needed over the next two decades, which is equal to the entire amount mined over the last 5 000 years.
It is impossible. So electrification is impossible.
There is another aspect of electrification that is never discussed. 26 million homes in the UK are connected to the gas grid. Thank you for pointing out that electrification has a weak link i.e. not enough copper, easy enough to fail at the grid.
I once read that 95% of all copper produced in the last century or so is still in use so it is highly recycled, and not just by the travelling community.

What is ‘eligibility criteria’? If I buy ‘too much’ meat does my right to put the lights on go out the window? If I am retired and, by their standards, not contributing (don’t forget retirees spend money, pay VAT and duty), does that mean I don’t qualify to heat my home?
Why would my household circumstances be anyone’s business but my own? And why would they need to be ‘verified’?

1) Wealth being taken from the less wealthy and collected by the wealthy (i.e. immiseration of the general population)
2) Elite overproduction – too many children of the elite competing for elite jobs
3) Decline in State fiscal health
Now ask yourself if Blair’s IGC is contributing to these causes of social instability or exacerbating them? My own opinion is that Blair is convinced that if the common man was firmly under digital control all would be well. ‘Well’ being the ongoing security and comfort of the elite.
What disgusts me is the way out television channels act as gatekeeper for these creeps. They’re never exposed to any argument or reasoned scrutiny. Perfect example was question time when the moment it was pointed out that humans only emit 4% of global CO2 Fiona Bruce interrupted, lied that it was 40% and then refused to let the point be continued.
