Protesters in Epsom have demanded police release descriptions and CCTV footage of the men suspected of gang raping a woman outside a church amid suspicions that the information is being withheld owing to the ethnicity of the suspects. The Telegraph has more.
Police are investigating after several men attacked the woman in Epsom in the early hours of Saturday morning.
The woman, in her 20s, had been followed after leaving the town’s Labyrinth nightclub before the attack by a group of men.
On Wednesday night, dozens of protesters demanded that police release descriptions of the men and details of their ethnicities.
Surrey Police has said it is still working to identify the identities of those suspected of having carried out the attack. A spokesman said: “At this early stage, we do not have full descriptions of any potential suspects.
“We will release further details once we have them. The victim is being supported by a specialist sexual offences liaison officer, who is helping her through the process at her own pace.”
The attack is believed to have taken place outside Epsom Methodist Church, in Ashley Road, between 2am and 4am. The church is 100 yards from the nightclub. It is not yet clear how many men took part in the alleged rape.
Anyone who was in the area at the time and may have seen something suspicious is urged to contact the police.
The force is also asking for motorists who may have dashcam footage to get in touch with detectives.
Police with riot shields were seen forming a barrier across the centre of the high street in the commuter town and traffic was brought to a standstill.
Earth and plants from pots lining the road were thrown at police, as well as a cone and bottles.
A man referred to as Pete addressed the banks of officers with a microphone, saying: “We came here today to deliver a letter to the police. Unfortunately, we have not been able to do that, but they very kindly joined us. Let’s read that letter out to them.”
He said: “I am writing as a deeply concerned resident of Epsom to formally request clarity and assurance following reports of a serious and distressing incident that is said to have taken place locally.
“It has been widely discussed within the community that a 20 year-old woman was subjected to a prolonged and violent assault, reportedly occurring in a churchyard and occurring for a significant period of time.
“What is compounding this concern is the apparent lack of publicly available information regarding the incident. There has been no clear communication about whether suspects have been identified, apprehended or whether there is any longer a risk to the public.
“The absence of detail has led to widespread speculation, misinformation and growing unease within the community.
“As residents, we fully appreciate the need for discretion during active investigations. However, we believe it is essential that the public is provided with appropriate updates and reassurances, particularly when an incident of this severity has occurred. At present, many women and girls in Epsom feel uncertain about their safety.”
His letter was greeted with cheers by protesters, some of whom then approached the riot police for heated discussions.

Surrey Police’s chief social worker in uniform has said that “there is no evidence that asylum seekers or immigrants were involved.” And before she said this was this “No descriptions have been released as the information about the incident and potential suspects is so limited.” So this would say to me that there was also NO evidence that the usual suspects were NOT involved.

You can 100% be certain that if the suspects were a certain demographic, the police would say so. You can also be 100% certain that if the suspects were not the aforementioned demographic, the police would not say so.
If there were riot police there, it must have been a riot. Which means Epsom has been taken over by Far Right rioters. Which surely calls for swift arrests, swift guilty verdicts, and very long custodial sentences. Apart for the far-rightness of it all, these rioters were actually asking for information, which is surely disinformation and warrants doubling their sentences.
If Antifa had landed, alongside the socialists, they’d have gotten chauffeured there in police vans then escorted down the rest of the way, like what happened in Epping when locals were protesting outside the Bell Hotel. Perhaps they couldn’t organize themselves quickly enough with this gathering but if these people in Epsom make it a regular thing to protest about a migrant hotel in their midst I’ll bet they all show up to counter-protest in due course.
If these dangerous men are still on the loose then the police need to release the CCTV footage they’ve got so that people can be on the look out. When are they planning to do that? Also, is there a migrant hotel or an HMO in the neighbourhood? The article doesn’t say. This isn’t me victim blaming but I really, really wish women wouldn’t leave pubs and clubs alone to head home late at night. Especially walking and with alcohol onboard, you’re incredibly vulnerable and easy pickings for predatory men like this. And there’s loads of videos circulating online of how they hang around nearby venues and target women, following them through town so that they can choose their moment to attack.

Ah the religion of peacefull gang rape. Pure speculation I know but as mentioned if it was a white group their pictures would be all over the news and their families forced into hiding by now.
They were so quick to mention the race of the guy who ploughed into the crowd in Liverpool.
