There’s a good little story on Guido Fawkes that caught my eye. Apparently, the Daily Sceptic is doing rather well.
An article in this week’s New Statesman (“In the Post-Corbyn World, What Next for Alternative Left Media?“) spurred Guido to do some research into their traffic and how they are performing generally. The short answer is not very well in terms of raw audience size. In comparison to right-of-centre political news and opinion sites they are well behind. Like for like The Spectator has double the New Statesman’s readership. To give you an idea how much worse they are faring after the Corbyn-era glory days, consider this, Toby Young’s Daily Sceptic last month alone had more online readers than the New Statesman, Novara Media and Morning Star combined!

Yep very well done everyone at TDS. I like to think I was one of the first to join your readership. Nothing clever in that just saw the article about the Lockdown Sceptics site Toby had written in the DT (which I gave up on ages ago) and it truly gave me a lifeline from the nonsense that was (and still is) going on and at last made me feel I wasn’t alone. Since then I’ve joined in with the local SITP which has been another Godsend and helped the ‘Back to Normal’ guys leafleting. All this has led to meeting and talking to like minded people (good people) and kept me sane. So thank you everyone, I think we’re all heroes in a way getting this far. And thanks Tony for setting us on our way. As I said at the time I think you deserve a Knighthood (but not sure that means anything anymore sadly).

Thank you Toby, Will et al., how could we, old people who have refused an experimental, untrialled, genetic messenger jab, in the minority, survive. without you and TCW?
We oldies are harangued on all sides by well-meaning, but naive, younger relatives and former old friends who have ‘taken the shilling’!
We have almost no social life – the groups to which we used to belong now will not invite us unless we have been jabbed. (The reason one lady gave was that, ‘ if you caught something at our house we would never forgive ourselves!’)
They, poor souls, have not taken into their blinkered minds that having gained natural immunity through suffering the entire virus (engineered via ‘gain of function’ or not?) is more robust and flexible than any ‘jab’ with the spike protein toxin. We were infected in France in February, 2020. They are far more likely to infect and transmit within the group than they are to harm us. And we pose a very little threat to them.
Our support of new friends in Selby is through ‘Stand in the Park’ each Sunday. For a small portion of the week it is wonderful to feel ‘normal’.

Given the paucity of comments and commenters here, I am somewhat sceptical about those claimed numbers.
I read this site every day since its inception in April 2020, but have commented a handful of times. I can certainly believe that there thousands of readers of Toby’s blog – like me – who rarely post comments. I would also like to congratulate and thank Toby for setting up this excellent site.
I’d like to add my thanks to Toby and the team; without this site I think I might have got very depressed over the last 18 months. As it is, it has occupied my time; given me plenty to think about and encouraged me to continue battling against the lies and lunacy which has been imposed on us.
And I’d also like to thank so many of the BtL commentators, for posting their links to other sites and videos which I otherwise would not have found. They have helped beat the Authoritarians attempt to silence dissent.
Belated thanks to Toby and the team – great job.
I know that a number of regular BTL posters are frustrated by Toby’s committed belief that we are where we are as a result of cockupery and incompetence – rather than coordinated and deliberate policy. I used to hold Toby’s view. Now, there is simply waaaaay too much evidence to support the latter view that the government, its agencies and the MSN are either corrupt or motivated by an ideological agenda that is not in the best interests of those over whose lives they rule, control and influence. I’d really love to know what – for Toby – would be the straw that breaks the camel’s back and for him to say: “Okay everyone, I agree that whatever is going on – it can longer be attributed to mere cockupery and incompetence – something else much more sinister is in play”. For me, it was a number of things, but the absolute confirmation came with the utterly insane decision to jab children.
It is indeed frustrating, much as we support and value Toby….. we incline intellectually towards understanding the clear rationale behind the apparent insanity, and would go along with James Delingpole any day of the week. Meanwhile Toby takes care to garner powerful friends, remain in the mainstream, and support his family most ably.. we have to respect that, and it is part of the wealth of humanity to be found in this particular ‘below the line’, that we do so.
I’m inclined to think he’s been “strongly advised” to keep the site on the side of cockup and incompetence.

It’s such a shame that those on either side of any belief system are pejorative about the other. Arguments by the ‘Left’ and ‘Right’ that dismiss the other’s beliefs as fundamentally flawed have common ground. Surely those who are sure about anything are not true sceptics. To be a sceptic is not to be sure about anything. We can’t assume we are correct and be sceptical of other’s beliefs. Our beliefs about the right way to exist on this planet are based on nothing but our own differing interpretations of what life is. There is also no benefit from labelling and judging the ‘other’, isn’t a sceptic the opposite of this?
Daily Sceptic serves a very specific purpose and the more readers it has the better – right or left. The Spectator is excellent as is Unherd. The problem with left wing writing these days is its humourless and sanctimonius tone. No wonder readers are put off.
This is very reassuring as sometimes it feels like we are completely overwhelmed by the left.

Apparently rich jet-setters are climate refugees now. There’s no analysis or nuance in there at all either. Apparently China’s woes are largely environmental, nothing to do with them having set up an inhuman materialistic system then? Was the cultural revolution because of climate change? And Tiananmen Square?
Good to see they’re still pushing dissenters against foreign regimes on the other side of the world upon us, since everything’s rosy over here and we have nothing really to dissent about in the US sphere, where we are ruled by noble philosopher kings and all live lives of liberal, prosperous ease.

Can I respectfully ask other LD sceptics to listen to & publicise Ben Irvine’s video of the utterly corrosive & dreadful role many unions played in driving the corona NPIs debacle over the last 19 months. Before I read the related article I was utterly furious with Boris & blamed him for everything. Reading it was transformative, and a lightbulb moment. The unions are STILL doing it & trying to put us back into lockdown & implement vaccine passports & stop seeing GP patients face to face.

As I commented at the time, it’s fine and correct to give the unions the blame they deserve but we shouldn’t allow it to distract us entirely from Johnson’s personal responsibility. There’s more than enough blame to go around, in the worst domestic policy disaster in modern history.

Congrats for providing an oasis of rational thought and an opportunity to challenge what in public health terms will no doubt go down in history as a catastrophe through governments, their advisors and the pharmaceutical industry’s malpractice and malfeasance.

I don’t give a dam about Left/Right.. In their extreme forms they’re both sides of the same coin. Fully agree though that the Left lack humour – and irony.
I only care about following the correct science. The trick is though deciding who is more likely to be right. A good guide is that experts usually say whatever their payers, and not necessarily in money, want.
Add politics into the mix – controlling the “independent democratic media” Lol, and voila, it’s toxic – and that’s exactly what those in charge want.
But then again, most on here know that what’s going on ain’t anything to do with defeating a “virus”.

It really has felt like a home-grown publication / movement.. we can now sense that this is becoming a much bigger animal.
