Facebook Condemned For Trying to Ingratiate Itself With China by Censoring of Lab Leak Theory

by Toby Young
27 May 2021 4:15 PM

Facebook was today accused by a Conservative MP of “showing its true and ugly colours” and smothering free speech to cosy up to China as it did a U-turn on its ban on posts debating whether Covid-19 could be man-made. Following Joe Biden’s call for further investigation of the theory, such speculation is no longer deemed to be “harmful misinformation” by the social media giant. MailOnline has more.

Mark Zuckerberg’s global policy chief Nick Clegg, the former British MP and Liberal Democrat leader, has also been branded “feeble” for allowing months of censorship on the social network.

Critics branded Facebook’s behaviour had been ‘contemptible’ and begged them to respect free speech rather than “ingratiating” themselves with states such as China, which has banned the website but remains a $5billion-a-year ad market.

British Conservative MP Peter Bone told MailOnline: “It does seem to me that Facebook is not an open platform for people to put their views on. It is an open platform for people to put their views on as long as they agree with Facebook.

“Their decisions are based on politics not on principle… if it is fashionable with the liberal elite it can go down. If it is liberal elite say it it must be OK, if it’s President Trump that says it it must be awful.

“The thing that Trump was saying is exactly the same as Biden is saying, but Trump was according to Facebook not allowed to say that. Whereas everyone loves Biden from Facebook therefore it must be right. It is one rule for one political view and another for another.”

And the liberal media in the US, who lampooned Donald Trump when he said a year ago said he had “a high degree of confidence” that the virus escaped from a lab, have finally conceded that he may have been right – after a year ridiculing the suggestion.

Facebook ruled in February it would “remove” any posts that claimed that coronavirus was “man-made” or that the virus was “created by an individual, government or country” – branding it “misinformation” and a “debunked claim” that required “aggressive action” from moderators.

But today the tech giant reversed its ban on its users discussing the theory, just hours after President Biden ordered his intelligence agencies to launch a probe into whether it was man-made after all – and report back in 90 days.

Worth reading in full.

Thankfully i have never had the urge to join the globalist communists at facebook or twitter. However, i hear there are perfectly acceptable social media platforms that are still open to free speech.

This is just the small tip of a very large iceberg. Censorship of dissenting voices is one of the main reasons why the response to the pandemic has been so disastrous. It’s progress that this issue is finally being mentioned in the MSM.

Hopefully the debate will move on to covering:

  • why doctors publicising early treatments using existing cheap generic medicines have been silenced,
  • why the Great Barrington scientists were silenced,
  • why many data scientists questioning the official interpretation of the data have been silenced,
  • why pathologists questioning cause of death certification have been silenced,
  • why doctors with concerns about vaccine side-effects have been silenced,
  • and why people pointing out that lockdowns, masks and most other NPIs used over the last year don’t work continue to be silenced.

I strongly suspect the root cause of all of this censorship will lead back to a very small group of individuals.

Yeh, but if you have read the book on the so called “settled” science of climate change you could have predicted exactly how this would pan out.

Facebook, Instagram and Twitter, plus some others, are a disgrace, and seem to have been designed by Satan himself, and implemented by his followers. Clegg, of course, is hopeless, greedy and opportunistic, as always. We need the Archangel Michael to tread upon these serpents, and crush them.

Anything bad in this life is sure to have Nick (“No more broken promises”) Clegg at the heart of it.

Hmm, that photo finally makes clear Bozo’s suggestion that they were following Data, not dates!

These big tech leaders have zero integrity. It’s all about money and power. They would drop them and bend over for China to get/keep access to that market or to stay in Xi’s good books, because the way things are going he’s going to rule the world. Greedy, arrogant morons.

I love the picture that accompanies this story. Nick Clegg looks like the proud inventor/father of an android son he hopes can learn how to have emotional responses.

That picture really does capture the sheer creepiness of the pair of them. Wouldn’t you just love to go for a beer with them?

So apparently the spotty Geek in Silicone Valley who wrote the Facebook algorithm didn’t know better than the whistle blowing Chinese scientist who actually worked in the Wuhan Lab. Whoever could have guessed that?

But it’s a perfect metaphor isn’t it? These dysfunctional, megalomaniac, Big Tech creeps who know sod all about life outside their own nerd bubbles, but presume to tell the rest of us what is and isn’t fact and what we are allowed to believe.

Oh come on, let’s be honest. Social media have been de platforming, censoring, banning, suppressing everyone and anyone who dares discuss alternative narrativess for well over a year. So has MSM, even more so by simply ignoring information.

Who is really driving this campaign? It isn’t happening just here in the UK, the USA is riddled with censorship and other countries?

When prominent scientists are ignored, censored, suppressed, the everyday man should be very worried.

Yes I was seeing it with the “diet wars” over a decade ago. Eminent people were unable to get authorisation for low carb studies, then those that were deemed ethical couldn’t get published. The likes of Richard Feinman, Eric Westman, Jeff Volek and Stephen Phinney started the journal Diet And Metabolism just to get them published.

Things did eventually change, all these people and many more are now published in mainstream journals despite the previous censorship

I heard a BBC journo cite the fact that Trump was saying it as a valid excuse for the censorship! That is how far the BBC has fallen.
