There are two main theories for SARS-CoV-2’s origin. One maintains that the virus originated in bats, and then jumped to humans, most likely via an intermediate host species. The other states that the virus originated in a lab, but then accidentally escaped, perhaps due to inadequate safety protocols.
It should be noted that there are two slightly different versions of the latter, “lab leak” theory. One says the virus that escaped was of wholly natural origin; the other says it had been genetically engineered beforehand. In the diagram below, A corresponds to the first version of the lab leak theory and C corresponds to the second; B corresponds to the natural origin theory:

The lab leak theory, you’ll recall, was initially dismissed as a “conspiracy” – even though the location of the first outbreak (in proximity to the Wuhan Institute of Virology) suggested it was by no means implausible.
In September of 2020, Twitter suspended the Chinese virologist Li-Meng Yan after she claimed that SARS-CoV-2 was manufactured in a laboratory and accused the Chinese government of covering up evidence. (Dr. Yan subsequently fled to the United States over concerns for her safety.)
In February of 2020, 27 scientists wrote a letter to The Lancet, claiming studies “overwhelmingly conclude that this coronavirus originated in wildlife”. The authors stated, “We stand together to strongly condemn conspiracy theories suggesting that COVID-19 does not have a natural origin.”
In May of 2020, Anthony Fauci told National Geographic that the scientific evidence is “very, very strongly leaning toward this could not have been artificially or deliberately manipulated”.
In June of 2020, Peter Daszak – organiser of the Lancet letter – wrote an op-ed for the Guardian. He again referred to proponents of the lab leak theory as “conspiracy theorists”, and claimed that his own work “firmly concludes that COVID-19 originated in bats”. (Daszak has actually funded gain-of-function research at the Wuhan Institute of Virology, and was the subject of 2015 news item in the journal Nature titled ‘Engineered bat virus stirs debate over risky research’.)
Even today, the Wikipedia page for “COVID-19 misinformation” says the lab leak theory is based on “unfounded speculation and conspiracy theories”.

Yet over the last few months, the lab leak theory has entered the mainstream. Now leading scientists are calling for a new investigation into the origins of COVID-19. On May 14th, 18 scientists – including names from Harvard, MIT and Stanford – wrote a letter to the journal Science: “Investigate the origins of COVID-19.”
The authors note, “Theories of accidental release from a lab and zoonotic spillover both remain viable.” And they argue that “the two theories were not given balanced consideration” in the WHO’s heavily-criticised investigation earlier this year.
The authors go on to state, “We must take hypotheses about both natural and laboratory spillovers seriously until we have sufficient data.” And they say that a proper investigation “should be transparent, objective, data-driven, inclusive of broad expertise, subject to independent oversight, and responsibly managed to minimize the impact of conflicts of interest.”
The origin of COVID-19 obviously remains an open-question. But the fact that a reasonable theory was dismissed as a “conspiracy” by many scientists and much of the mainstream press does not bode well for our ability to tackle future pandemics.
Stop Press: The editorial board of the Washington Post has called for a proper investigation into the lab leak theory.

It hardly kills anyone, so it was made in China as part of a biological weapon program then they are doing a pretty poor job; no worries there.
But anyway, who really cares where it came from? Because Covid is just the excuse for this artificial pandemic which has been created by powerful interests demanding profits as they drive the world towards a Garden of Eden. That’s what needs researching.
They could serve covid to me with my burger and fries and I wouldn’t care. I got a lung infection from a dodgy kebab once. I think your question – why has something so mild caused such repercussions – is the important one.
It’s a bit more than mild. Not much perhaps but definitely a cut above bad flu.
People speak of it as a static disease. It is not. It is caused by a rapidly mutating RNA virus. Providing the pathogen isn’t rapidly fatal to everyone, natural selection will ensure that an end point is reached where the pathogen can inhabit a host without killing it, cf common cold, flu, etc.
That can be seen in its falling case fatality rate (and associated IFR) – ~20% March 2020, ~2% September 2020, probably ~0.2% now. The IFRs are probably less than 1/10 of the corresponding CFR. Whitty himself said the virus was harmless to the great majority of people in May 2020, and not so long back confirmed it was endemic just like the flu and the common cold.
It’s more likely that with the variation in individual immune response to the virus some people are more vunerable than others. The virus will only kill those vunerable within the population and so as the vunerable group declines in size the death rate from covid reduces accordingly. The problem with considering the virus it’s self becoming less deadly is that selection relies on some advantage to the virus in doing so and there is no obvious reason what this would be. Covid has no problem infecting people and those who die are not sufficient to limit it’s spread. Natural selection has nothing to drive the evolution of a milder form. Drift could do it, but genetic drift is random and could equally make it more deadly. Yet the group vunerable to death from it are finite and replaced at a slow rate. To the observer the end result looks the same ie with each outbreak deaths decline always reducing the vunerable population until very few are left to die even the common cold still kills a few people each year.
“It hardly kills anyone, so it was made in China as part of a biological weapon program then they are doing a pretty poor job”
You’ve been watching too many Hollywood films.
Causing this much disruption with a relatively moderate virus is far more effective and controllable – if this was the source and objective.
After all, it is known that this precise area of ‘gain of function’ research was/is going on in Wuhan. Bloody big coincidence.
Thinking that lethality is a key issue for this theory isn’t very perceptive.
I’m not backing either theory of origin – after all, what is ‘known’ about the virus is, in large part, fictional. But the ‘Escape’ theory remains as viable as any.
A well known battlefield tactic is to inflict injury rather than death as looking after an injured comrade requires the immediate use of much more manpower and resources than coming back later for a dead one.
Also don’t ignore the complicity of the Faustus at the centre of the spiders web.
That particular evil bureaucrat is even more responsible than Ferguson for this entire s***show.
So proving he lied under oath and taking him out of the picture immensely weakens the “forces of darkness”
Not forgetting the coincidence that Merkel visited Wuhan in Sept 2019, subsequently took a meeting at a company called Webasto (if my memory serves), followed 5 months later by an employee of said company becoming Germany’s ground zero importer of Covid?
Nothing to see here, just coincidences….
The biggest producer of vaccines in Europe is Germany.
That’s pretty tenuous but I like it.
That’s the whole point: please watch Dr Yan’s analysis on gnews.org in light of the recently leaked 2015 CCP text book on biological warfare. SaS-Cov-2 isn’t designed to kill large numbers of people itself – that would be too easy to trace back to the CCP – it is designed to be highly contageous and (with the help of CCP sponsored academics, health officials and the other powerful interests you allude to) to spread fear and thereby weaken other countries economies, societies and political systems making it easier for the CCP to impose its authoritarian rule on them. I would say that it has been extremely effective job…but one that has also opened the World’s eyes to the true nature if the CCP.
So can we get on with exposing the moles in our government who are doing the dirty work of the CCP and their accomplices by hijacking government policy and spreading so much undue fear about a largely harmless virus?
Because the CCP isn’t doing this crap on its own! It is our own traitors who are progressing this nonsense.
Four Horsemen of the Covid Apocalypse are named and are being prosecuted in this Private Criminal Prosecution. Hancock, Whitty, Vallance, Ferguson. Traitorous little scumbags. Only in the last few days have we heard about a blatant attempt to derail the case, which is great, because it means it has the legs to get these criminals sentenced for these most heinous of crimes.

No – it is the political response of the West that shows that China did a brilliant job: minimum force to coerce your enemy to destroy itself. Could have come straight from the pen of Sun Tzu!
Yes!
Why release a dangerous virus when you can release a relatively mild virus and just tell everyone it’s a bioweapon
I care about where it came from. 1) This might help us prevent a future pandemic but 2) we need to be able to trust our “experts” when they tell us “facts” about a viruses’ origination and spread.
From the research and reporting I’ve done, the U.S. government and public health officials are NOT telling us everything they know about the “early spread” of this virus in the U.S. Nor is the “watchdog” press.
I don’t think they wanted to kill everyone. Who’d buy all their crap and fuel their economy if we all croaked it? They’ve done a bloody good job of getting our societies to act like theirs though so more like world domination.
Another theory, which will doubt be regarded as conspiracy, is that the Chinese deliberately released it. As burke19 points out given the low IFR it would appear to be a crap biological weapon, however this assumes that the purpose of biological weapons is to kill. If the Chinese are trying to gain economic, rather than military, world dominance then a virus that causes other countries to destroy their economies, but leave your own relatively intact would be perfect.
So much disinformation came out of China last year, e.g. that human to human transmission wasn’t possible, followed by the nonesense about asymptomatic transmission that it seems likely that they were deliberately misleading the West, presumably for their own gain. If they were prepared to do that then is it so hard to believe that they would release a virus then manipulate the situation (with help from the useful idiots at WHO, left wing western universities, etc.) to cause maximum damage to rival economies? Put another way, if the Chinese had it and believed it could weaken the West would you trust them not to use it?
In the diagram why is the Pangolin anonymised?
If we knew the identity/name of the Pangolin we could interview it and establish exactly what happened
Just saying
Schwab looks like a Pangolin. I’ve never seen him in the same as one.

It is not exactly speculative to say there has been a cover up. Why were they busy covering something up if there was nothing to cover up in the first place – why all this pussy-footing around now. There was a cover-up for God’s-sake! The only real question was whether the virus was leaked by accident or deliberately and Fauci, Daszak et al scarcely deserve the benefit of the doubt.
It is well documented what was going on in the Wuhan laboratory:

Hasn’t Fauci also used American taxpayer’s money to fund reasearch in Wuham banned in the US?
Wuhan not only has a level 4 biosecurity lab, it has the only level 4 biosecurity lab in East Asia or so I have read.
I expect the Japanese steered clear because of what they got up to in Manchurian labs during WW2.
Level 4 security for you.

What came first..the vaccines or the virus?
But could the virus have originated in a U.S. lab (probably released by accident)? I think this should also be considered at least a possibility.
If you read the study of archived Red Cross blood where units were collected over three days in mid-December 2019 (from three states) – and over a few days in six other states in mid-January – you will see that said study shows that 1.42 percent of studied blood samples showed signs of having the virus that causes COVID.
Well, if one simply extrapolates a sample with 1.42 percent “positives” to the entire country, you get as many as 4 million people who may have been infected somewhere between early December 2019 and January 2020.
There might have been, say, one million Americans who had already contracted the virus … BEFORE the Wuhan outbreak. Isn’t it possible this virus began to spread not in China but in America?
I’m not saying it did, but it’s certainly POSSIBLE. But this possibility is NOT being investigated. The fact this possibility is not being seriously investigated is actually quite important … and disturbing.
Also completely ignored in this whole “early spread” investigation is the fact that there was a bad virus circulating in America (and many other countries in the world) months before the lockdowns (and before the Wuhan outbreak). This was called “the flu” although the vast majority of people who got a flu test tested “negative” for influenza. It is also true that many of these sick people who tested negative for influenza had symptoms identical to COVID (loss of smell and taste, acute shortness of breath, dry and lingering cough, etc.)
I’m not saying everyone who was sick in December 2019 or January 2020 had COVID, but there is a very good possibility that a certain percentage of these individuals did or might have. Some of these people later tested positive for COVID antibodies in either late April or early May 2020. Some of these people have tested positive for COVID antibodies multiple times. Were ALL of these positive antibody tests “false positives?”
And antibodies proper fade to undetectable levels in most people within two or three months of their COVID symptoms. This would mean that most of the people who were sick with “something” that was not the flu and then got an antibody test four or five months later (when they were finally available) would have likely tested negative for antibodies. That is, a “negative” antibody test in May 2020 does not automatically prove that someone did not have COVID in November or December.
An important study would be to see how many of the MILLIONS of people who suspect they had COVID months before the lockdowns later did test positive for the virus. My guess is that if such a study was commissioned (it won’t be), it would show that a disproportionate percentage of these possible early cases did not subsequently test positive. The obvious conclusion would be that they developed natural immunity from these “early” infections.
P.S. I could actually be a participant in such a study. I had all the COVID symptoms in late January 2020 (and tested negative for flu). I have not tested positive for COVID since then. I think I acquired natural immunity from contracting a virus that wasn’t even supposed to be in my state when I contracted it.
Yes we had the same in parts of the UK, strangely the far east and far south west. One family I know had it after their son returned from a skiing trip in France with a horrendous cough. Then there were findings in sewage and blood samples in Italy and Spain going back to 2019.
The kicker is the lower level of official covid in these regions which had the “pre-covid”, I assume immunity.
Very likely it was in circulation much earlier than the Offical Narrative admits
You’re right about that. There were some reports about sewage samples in those places, also in Brazil. As BiilR said, I’d be content to contribute to such an examination, indeed, I volunteered to do so on a note to my GP declining the offer of a jab. There was no reply to that idea. I believe it can be done in the private sector (at a considerable expense), but politically it’s taboo for the time being. This far into the future, it would need to a T-cell examination – fairly unlikely for related antibodies to be present in me now, if it was what happened in Dec 2019.
If this was multiple choice, then I’d tick C.
The other two have too many problems with them, the main point being, how come there is no other evidence anywhere bloody ever, of the virus appearing outside of Wuhan. This would have happened say, if researchers had caught it in a cave and travelled back. All the first known cases were along the metro line between the Wuhan lab and the airport.
who gives a **** where it came from? The problem is the response.
Same people pulling all the strings though.
This is very hopeful. Fauci is paltering to public committees. Lying by careful phrasing. If he falls, the whole thing begins to crumble.
We may discover for certain then who is the master who sends the dog Ferguson out to fetch for him.
The cover up or arse covering is in operation. The Wuhan Lab used to list a host of US Universities as partners on its website. Now this has been reduced to only the Eco Health Alliance

Guess who is getting thrown under the bus here? Peter Danzak and his Eco Health team. I wonder if we could see who has quietly left their board recently? I’d say many rats will be deserting that ship.
Not to say they are up to their neck in it. But the powers that be will hope the trail can be scrubbed at Danzaks door.
That’s some vanishing trick. I checked out the virus archive and they’re building a nice little business there…only 950.00 for your very own Indian variant!
SARS-CoV-2 is not a biological weapon of mass destruction. It is a political weapon of mass destruction.
It was initially aimed at China to show how they were incapable of controlling the outbreak. Conveniently the CIA-funded regime change ops ceased when the disease appeared in China.
Subsequently, following the outbreak in the west, it has been leveraged for the financial benefit of Big Pharma, corrupt politicians and insiders, and Big Banksters (especially CoL with their ‘generous’ loan of £250 billion to allow for the bribing of the citizenry to go along with the scam). It has also suited the monomaniac technocrats and the closet Dr Mengeles with their simple genetic solutions to complex problems.
The latter stuff has been on hold for some time, pending the arrival of some disease affecting the west. If SARS-CoV-2 had remained a non-western disease, like Zika and others, then lockdown would not have happened as there is no money for Big Pharma in diseases affecting the third world.
This is a complete diversion. Its merely designed to encourage meaningless debate and divert everyone from the real issues.
I tend to agree, though if it turns out to be escaped from a lab and they’ve lied about it, it adds to the stench of dishonesty that sourrounds the whole business, and further dents the credibility of the narrative.
No. It’s not irrelevant, peyrole, because it opens up questions about the range of forces at play and the nature of the overlapping parts of the scam.
Indeed. As the global health officials imposed lockdowns and masking on kids, now further burying people in vaccine propaganda, they have openly being lying about what they know.
Trust is a precious thing.

By Dr Lawrence Sellin.
A country the size of 9.597 million sq km and the new corona virus virus turns up just 14km from the one Level 4 lab in China that is doing gain of function research on coronaviruses.
Not to mention all the initial and ongoing efforts they went to cover it up. Why would you do that otherwise? It chills me to think of how many they murdered in their futile attempts to hide it too. Given what we know now, do you really believe that the perfectly healthy 34 year old Dr Li Wenliang who blew the whistle actually died of covid?!
And conveniently we are now all emulating the policies of the CCP. The fact that we are even debating the origins of covid blows my mind.
I agree that tons of plausible evidence points to Wuhan as a very possible origination point. But so too does tons of evidence point to the FACT that the virus had spread to at least 12 states in America by November or December 2019.
These states include: Washington, California, Oregon, New Jersey, South Florida and Alabama.
How in the heck did people in all these states develop COVID if the virus was not “spreading” and spreading “widely?” And not a one of these people had travelled to China.
Per published news stories, there are at least 16 Americans who had COVID in November or December 2019 – all “proven” by positive antibody tests (several of these people tested positive for antibodies multiple times). I’m no scientist or epidemiologist, but I am comfortable in postulating that some (unknown) people had to give these people this virus … and these people also almost certainly gave the virus to others.
I mean if a couple in Sylacauga, Alabama had COVID in December were they the only people in America who had it? How would this be possible?
And why wouldn’t the CDC “contact tracers” even talk to this couple?
Here’s the answer: They wouldn’t if they didn’t want to disclose evidence that this virus WAS spreading widely in America – weeks if not months before they say the virus was even in this country.
It’s not the “early spread” investigations public health officials did perform … It’s the ones they didn’t … and still won’t perform that tell us something about the legitimacy of these early spread investigations.
Yes I could well believe that. I’m actually pretty certain I caught covid around New Year 2020 myself, if not then it was another virus with identical symptoms. I was v poorly, considering I am a slim, fit and healthy 30something. My GP said he’d seen a lot of it about and it was nothing to worry about! No one close to me seemed to catch it (or if they did it was nothing like mine).
Apologies if it seems like I’m digressing but that’s my exact point – it’s such an ordinary virus that why would anyone think differently? Even the old and the vulnerable who can be seriously ill usually die with it and not from it. When have you ever been to the Dr with a cold/flu and been tested for anything?! This is such a non “pandemic” that it could’ve passed entirely under the radar for years.
So perhaps the unusual thing here is that the whistle was blown in the origin location when they could’ve continued to cover it up and waited until someone else discovered SARS-COV2….well what if no one ever did?! Maybe China blew their own whistle in the end because they were fed up with us ignoring it!
It’s possible that it has been around for a while before it was identified. Like you, I had something in the last week in Dec 2019, and as you say, it was never the norm to approach any GP for anything that appeared to be a ‘cold’ like infection. They don’t want people in with things like that to pass on, after all. Looking on the bright side, there could be a fair bit of natural immunity on those grounds, but they are not interested in analysing what we dealt with before it was announced.
The origination question is obviously supremely important. I would simply say that if the virus did originate in Wuhan and thus begin to “spread” throughout the world from this city … then said “spread” MUST have begun months before the “Wuhan Outbreak” (which was reported world-wide on or around December 30, 2019).
I say this because there is a mountain of compelling evidence that the virus had ALREADY spread around the world by at least November 2019. It was certainly “spreading” in America by November.
So any spread that began in China must have begun by, say, September, if not earlier – to have infected so many people in so many different states in America by November.
Still, the CDC says they can find no evidence of spread of the virus in America before mid-January.
To which I say: The CDC obviously isn’t looking very hard.
After suspecting that it was made in a lab the next question should be if it is man-made who made it and who distributed it? The US/West has a persistent history of using chemical, biological, radioactive, and nuclear weapons. From the Project for a New American Century “Combat will likely take place in new dimensions: In space, cyber-space and perhaps the world of microbes… advanced forms of biological warfare that can “target” specific genotypes may transform biological warfare from the realm of terror to a politically useful tool” Here is an well reasoned article by Ron Unz that spells out the case for it more likely being a biological attack against China. https://www.21cir.com/2021/05/the-truth-and-the-whole-truth-about-the-origins-of-covid-19/
Regardless of where it came from or whether or not it was deliberate the political elite worldwide have milked us to death using the usual excuse of caring for the public while doing the complete opposite for their own personal gain. And no I was not referring to money although I imagine there are a large number of this elite that have done just fine financially too.
Please read Dr. Mercola’s newsletter issued today. A very good discussion on the origin of sars covid2 and the response of US congressmen demanding an investigation into its origin. Anyone see Matt or Boris or one of the 600 plus mps insist on an investigation into the origin of sars covid2. Before we go one step further injecting people with an experimental biologicals, shouldn’t we know what we are dealing with? Just a thought.
With wet markets all over China, the virus originated in one 400m from a Level 4 Biosecurity lab, doing gain of function research on … er… coronaviruses.
The only open question is whether the lab escape was accidental or deliberate.
