The Government must scrap its "outrageous proposal" to introduce vaccine passports or it will risk splitting the Conservative Party "irretrievably", warns Steve Baker, the Deputy Chairman of the Covid Recovery Group.
Hospitality industry leaders are willing to take the Government to court over the introduction of vaccine passports at nightclubs and other large venues, which they say is "highly likely to be unlawful".
If clubs and bars are anything to go by, many Brits clearly want to return to normal, with thousands of punters packing out venues across the country on Friday night – the beginning of the first weekend since July 19th.
A minister has refused to rule out the prospect of the Government barring unvaccinated Brits from pubs, saying that "we're not ruling anything out" regarding the introduction of domestic vaccine passports.
Unvaccinated Brits will be barred from nightclubs and other large venues from September. "Proof of a negative test will not be sufficient," says the Vaccines Minister. Last week, he said this would be "discriminatory".
Positive Covid tests have shot up in the last two weeks in the Netherlands after nightclubs reopened. But is there more to it than meets the eye?
Two of the biggest nightclub chains are ignoring the Government's argument that it is their "social responsibility" to check vaccine passports when they reopen next week, but they could be forced to in the near future.
