One explanation for plummeting case numbers is that the full effects of 'Freedom Day' have yet to appear in the data. However, the Google mobility index shows there was no sudden change in behaviour on July 19th.
Covid cases across the U.K. have fallen every day for the past seven days. Today's figure of 23,511 is the lowest number recorded in a single day in the whole of July.
I've written a piece for the Mail asking whether the rapid decline in daily case numbers since 'Freedom Day' suggests that lockdowns aren't necessary to bring case numbers down. It's certainly beginning to look that way.
