£1,750 for This! “Prison-Like” Conditions Persist at Government-Approved Quarantine Hotels

by Michael Curzon
26 June 2021 5:54 PM

It would appear that conditions at quarantine hotels – where travellers from “Red List” countries must self-isolate for 10 days, costing them £1,750 – have not improved since they were accused of being “prison-like” last month. Then, some guests complained of a deterioration in their mental and physical health while being forced to stay in these hotels. Now, many of the problems persist, as the MailOnline reports.

President Hotel, in Guilford Road, London, is described on its own website as the “perfect base” that allows guests to enjoy “all that London has to offer”.

But for some travellers who are spending their 10-day quarantine period there after arriving from Red List countries, it has been a “nightmare” as they complain of the “prison-like” conditions that are being enforced…

Garikayi Madzudzo made an official complaint regarding the quality of food to Imperial London Hotels, the company behind the three-star President Hotel.

He says he has been forced to order food and drink from other outlets as what was offered to him did not meet “acceptable food standards”…

Garikayi, along with several other travellers, shared pictures of the food they were provided by the hotel – including a small muffin, baked beans, lunchbox-sized carton of apple juice and a single hash brown for breakfast…

Guests have been left to question why they have security guards posted outside of their rooms for large parts of the day, and insist they are only allowed out for 15-minute exercise slots in the barricaded hotel garden…

[One] couple who have been staying in President allege the hotel forgot to bring them two meals on occasion – meaning they resorted to sharing one small dinner between the pair of them.

After just four days of quarantine, Thomas Cookson said the staff had managed to lose his suitcase – leaving him without clothes or toiletries…

A spokesman for Imperial London Hotels said: “At this stage we have no comment.”

A number of solo female ‘prisoners’ have also today complained that security guards made lewd suggestions to them and weren’t acting professionally.

I’d be interested to compare a pic of the food that’s served free of charge in a real
prison.

The government demands people to pay money for the quarantine in the hotel and this is the service people get in return. People in prison get served better food than this. Ian Huntley is getting fish and chips in jail and people who go on holiday with their families are not being fed properly.
There hotel should be ashamed there is no excuse for this

Its time to storm the quarantine hotels and free everyone inside. Treating Brits like prisoners in their own country is wrong, just wrong, for the crime of wanting to come back. Its time to just require a test to come back in, not this hotel quarantine nightmare. This is the best way of direct, rapid action against the regime.

They’re prison like conditions because they’re internment camps where innocent, healthy people are held against their will without due process.

I love sajid Javid especially when he was Home Secretary. He is my one of my favourite politicians in the party. Boris Johnson has made a good decision for once

According to the BBC (who also surprisingly gave coverage to the London demo), there have been cases of lone women being harassed in these “quarantine hotels”. So, to be clear, innocent, often desperate (and of course perfectly healthy) women are being imprisoned and abused as a result of this government’s actions. Shocking.

The slogan today which questioned being treated as sick until proven healthy had it right.

“Prison like”? It’s not “like” prison, it IS prison. Detaining people, depriving them of liberty, is imprisonment. Using terms like “quarantine” does not alter this basic fact.

This a psy-op to see how people will react to treatment of their fellow citizens in captivity.

Is there anything legally preventing people simply leaving? They have had no trial, no due process, no jury, therefore are they not detained legally.

Good point, what does the law say about these internment camps. I presume under public health emergency powers they can do what they want to, unless of course you identify yourself as an ‘important person’ whatever the legal definition of that is.
God help us all from this lunacy turning into comlplete totalitarianism.

Anyone know what percentage are going on to develop “real” Covid? If it’s anything like self-isolation because somebody near you tested positive it will be a tiny percentage. I’ve heard figures of 1:1,000 to 1:10,000

Was there ever any “real” covid? If there was it was gone a year ago. Anyone sick now just has a cold or flu, in my opinion. covid symptoms are the same as cold and flu symptoms.
