The ‘Compassion’ of Our Political Elites is Putting British Lives at Risk

by Ian Price
3 February 2024 3:00 PM

As many commentators have observed in the shocking case of Abdul Shakoor Ezedi, a priest supported the asylum claim of a man who had not only been twice refused it but had subsequently been convicted of sexual assault and indecent exposure. His claim to be a Christian – apparently endorsed by a priest – got his third asylum application over the line. He has now perpetrated a sickening attack with a corrosive substance on a mother and her daughters in Clapham, leaving them with life-changing injuries.

If this sounds familiar, it echoes the story of Liverpool bomber Emad Al Swealmeen who had an asylum application refused only to convert to Christianity before blowing himself up outside Liverpool Women’s Hospital in November 2021. One of the Christian couple that took him before his act of terrorism said: “He was with us for eight months, and during that time we saw him really blossoming in regards to his Christian faith.”

At the time of the Al Swealmeen terrorist attack in November 2021, Sky News reported that “there have been reports of growing concern within the Home Office at the role of the Church of England in converting asylum seekers”. This begs the question what would have to happen for the Home Office’s concern to grow so much that it took action.

The couple that took in Al Swealmeen and the priest that vouched for Ezedi may have been motivated by Christian compassion and be guilty of nothing more than naïveté. But what about the bishops that have used their unelected positions in the House of Lords to defeat the Rwanda bill? The contribution of Sarah Mullally, the Bishop of London, was to exclaim: “All people are made in the image of God.” Bishops that should be paying attention to their flock in the capital have for some time allowed their compassion for non-Christians in more distant places to take priority. In the edition of the Spectator that went out on October 7th last year – and went to print before the Hamas pogroms of that date – Andrew Roberts pointed out that Christopher Chessun, the Bishop of Southwark “believes stopping the boats would ‘impoverish the U.K.’ and accuses Israel of pursuing ‘the permanent inequality and disenfranchisement of Palestinians’”. Chessun has spoken on a number of occasions in the Lords but on pretty much every occasion – even before October 7th – he did so about Gaza which has a Christian population of around 1,000.

For our elites, compassion towards the world’s downtrodden, whatever their intent towards the West, seems to trump the very real safety concerns of the native population. This is not limited to bishops. This appears true even of Conservatives such as Richard Graham, MP for Gloucester, who, in an extraordinary exchange with Richard Tice on GB News said of illegal migrants arriving by boat: “Some of those who are coming over are people who’ve come from utterly dire situations in Syria and Afghanistan,” dismissing the fact that they were coming over from France.

'Don't be absurd.'

— GB News (@GBNEWS) January 17, 2024

At what point does compassion towards asylum seekers feel like trolling to ordinary Britons that rely on the state to defend them? Like most people in this country, I try and avoid causing harm to fellow citizens. Most of us don’t have to go to too much trouble to do this – we get our cars MOT’d and we check our tyre pressure. But beyond that, we are dependent upon the state to protect us and our families from those who set out to do us harm.

It’s not that those who govern us are trying and failing to protect us. They are not even trying. They are complicit in the erosion of Western liberal democracy and have the gall to dress it up as compassion.

    These virtue signallers should be told that if an asylum seeker that they have supported or endorsed subsequently commits a crime, they will be bound to serve the same sentence.

    “bound to serve the same sentence.”

    What ridiculous common sense.

    And if the asylumist blows themself up…Well…

    Better still send back to live in the country where the asylum seeker came from, never to return.

    Yes but where is it that they “come from”? ——-We often do not know. Are we supposed to stick them in a plane and dump them in the middle of Libya or something? ——The problem is NOT the migrants. They are only seeking a better life. The problem is the politicians who have no political will to solve this crisis of numbers and of undesirables entering. ——With political will there would be no crisis.

    The only way to change the situation is to make these people more scared of the natives than the immigrants.

    Are you suggesting we behead them or chuck acid at them instead of the other way around?

    It’s difficult not to agree with Todd Hayen’s analysis of where we are headed. And it’s soulless.

    Well you evidently don’t need to be a rocket scientist to play the system and outsmart the authorities. This is how you effectively avoid deportation, apparently;

    ”MIGRANTS have dodged deportation from Britain simply by swapping rooms in taxpayer-funded hotels, it can be revealed.
    Home Office officials have been unable to locate failed asylum seekers because they were not living in allocated rooms.
    One MP last night described the ‘farcical’ situation as ‘Carry On Up The Home Office’. The charade emerged when officers from the Immigration Enforcement unit were sent to migrant hotels with authorisation to take specific migrants to the airport for deportation. The foreign nationals had either exhausted the appeals process after being refused refugee status, or had been ruled ineligible for reasons such as holding a criminal record.

    But in a number of cases migrants had secretly moved to a different room after an informal ‘swap’ with another migrant at the same premises. Attempts to locate them had to be abandoned due to lack of manpower, sources said. Even though the Home Office gathers biometrics on all Channel migrants it would have proved impossible to fingerprint hundreds of occupants to trace the missing person.”

    I agree with Pat Condell here. And going by the photo in the comments section it appears he’s spot on;

    ”The reason the acid attacker was allowed to stay in the UK, and the reason they’re all allowed to stay, is because the Home Office is full of foreigners who hate this country. Until they’re all fired nothing will change.”

    Great, succinct article and I concur 100%, as I do with Henry Bolton in this 2min clip. A system not fit for purpose indeed. Who hates the populace more, do you think? The immigrants that come here to harm us and spread hate or the clowns running the show? Because both cannot seem to stop demonstrating their utter contempt for us ordinary citizens;

    Well given the state of play with the British armed forces struggling to meet their recruitment quotas, I definitely think it’d be in everyone’s best interest if the newcomers went and signed on the line. Nothing says, ”We treat national security with the utmost importance” like recruiting a boat-load of Muslim migrants. Don’t you think? The more highly trained the better. 😉

    I wouldn’t be able to look at this and draw any definitive conclusion, but what is obvious is the correlation between rise in crime and increased migration. It’s certainly the same story in other European countries such as Sweden, Germany and France. Obviously what would be helpful is the key ingredient; the ethnicity of the perpetrators. But this significant detail will be kept top secret, for obvious reasons.

    ”In the last 10 years rape has more than tripled.

    Some maybe down increased confidence in the police, with more women coming forward.

    In 2015 German Chancellor invited the 3rd World to come to Europe.”

    Bizarrely, migrants in Sweeden commit 20 times more rapes and sexual crimes than indigenous Swedes do? Yet apparently you can be arrested for pointing that out. Surely this takes handwringing to new levels of absurdity.

    “He seemed normal and relaxed and in general was always respectful and polite. He worked six or seven days in a pizza shop behind the counter,” the shop owner called Yaya said.

    “I was shocked. He was working hard. In the two years I knew him he never drank.

    “A few months ago he said he was working hard to go back to Afghanistan to get married to a woman and bring her back to the UK, because he was tired of being single.”

    This is how the BBC finish the Ezedi article. Get it? He’s actually a nice guy who works really hard and just needed some love. If you’re still paying your TV license you should be ashamed of yourself.

    People who endorse others should also be responsible for their actions. If I want to introduce a friend of mine to our Saturday evening poker night and I say he’s a great guy, and then he comes over empty handed, drinks all the beer, eats all the snacks, cheats us out of our money, and is way too handsy with the host’s wife, are you going to be like “It’s ok, you couldn’t have known, you had good intentions…”

    Why are we giving this priest a pass? He should be found guilty of aiding and abetting.

    It is not compassion that our pampered political elites are putting on display it is rank, bloody awful virtue signalling.

    Are we really expected to believe that these self-nominated “elites” would welcome any of this third world rubbish as neighbours?

    A world government prefers mass immigration as it erodes National Identity. So what we have is a war on the west. Western countries have too much prosperity for the global communists and have to be knocked down a peg and weaned off fossil fuels (Net Zero) —————-. We have to be stuffed full of people from all corners of the globe so we don’t feel British anymore and just feel like citizens of the global community. If, as we are being stuffed full of people from alien cultures with no respect for our culture, some of us are killed (like at the Manchester Arena) or are driven into on bridges or de-capitated by Islamists then that is “JUST TOO BAD”. ——If we dare to complain we are “racists”, and our complaints fall on deaf ears. The only thing that is important to globalists is Global Government and you cannot govern the globe if countries have the ability to govern themselves. —-That ability is being removed and our own lacky politicians are complicit in this by signing up to International agreements that give power over us all in the name of “compassion” and “saving the planet”

    Bishop Doolally declares that all people are made in the image of God. How does that justify mass immigration? And does that include Putin? In fact, the declaration in Genesis that all men are made in God’s image is a blasphemy to Islamic thought, since in that understanding God has no likeness to any creature.

    These clergy believe Jesus of Nazareth would have stood on the white cliffs at Dover welcoming migrants. They never let Scripture challenge their view. Their Jesus is a wish-fulfilment of 21st century liberal egalitarianism. It cannot be substantiated against passages from Scripture, especially the account of Jesus’s meeting with a foreign woman who petitioned Him about her possessed daughter. In this encounter it is clear that Jesus didn’t believe in equality.
