Police in London have refused to clear roads being blocked by eco-loon ‘Just Stop Oil’ protestors while threatening with arrest any motorists who try to do it themselves. The Mail has more.
A Tory former minister today furiously blasted officers for their “Alice in Wonderland” approach to policing Just Stop Oil stunts after motorists were effectively threatened with arrest if they tried to drag the zealots off the roads.
In angry scenes this morning, drivers got out of their vehicles and tore banners from eco-fanatics who have staged a second day of protests in London in a bid to bring the capital to a standstill.
A video shared by Just Stop Oil shows a man telling the demonstrators to “f*** off, every single one of you” and “move out of the way”. When he rips the banners from the hands of protesters and pushes them to the side of the road, police nearby go to stop him.
One of the uniformed officers then tells the man “if you push them, that’s assault – if you do that, that is a crime”, while the commuter can be heard complaining “people have got to go to work”.
Speaking exclusively to MailOnline today, Conservative MP Peter Bone blasted “upside down” policing. He said: “There seems to be one rule for protesters and another for hard working individuals who want to go about their job.
“They can break the law, block roads and do criminal damage, and nothing seems to happen. A motorist who just seems to want to get on with their job is threatened with effectively being arrested.”
The former minister added: “At the moment policing seems to be upside down. The people who are breaking the law and obstructing people going about their normal lives, nothing happens to them. The people who just want to get to work are getting into trouble. It’s an Alice in Wonderland situation.”

A bit different with people protesting peacefully against horrendous human rights abuses in Britain in Winter 2020-2021. And I don’t see how the “Consevative” party can blame anyone else for the state of policing, they’ve been in power since 2010, and are in the fourth year of this parliament. Who decided on a vote for police commisioners? Who decided to have these “metro-mayors”? It is no wonder if there is politicised policing, and it needs sorting. And those of us who still believe in democracy should send a message and vote independent or for one of the decent new parties at the local elections.
Two quotes on the wickedness of Common Purpose come to mind.
“By their fruits shall ye know them”,
and Cicero,
“A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within.”
First time I’ve heard of “Police Liaison Officers” in this context.
Having watched the video clip and read the College of Policing’s guidance on the subject of Liaison Officers, it’s pretty clear that their role is to work with the demonstrators to ensure that their freedoms are preserved. The general public, on the other hand, is made to look provocative when they try to exercise their own freedom of movement.
Perhaps the Lockdown protestors in 2020-1 should have requested their own Liaison Officers, or does the system only apply to State-Encouraged Demonstrations?
Are they anything to do with quangos?
I sense a pattern here: we wanted a bonfire of the quangos (quasi-autonomous non-governmental organisations). Instead, we get quasi-autonomous non-government demos as well. We wanted to take back control from the EU. Instead we get talk of handing powers to the World Health Organisation, whilst still subject to the EU and European Court of Human Rights on many things. Honestly, is there anyone in this rotten parliament who isn’t a traitor?
The bedrock of any society has to be respect for the law, and the law keepers. No wonder no-one cares a damn…
Since 2011, my flat was burgled once and a second attempt to enter it by force was made, I became a victim of a violent street robbery[*] and numerous GBH assaults and sexual harrassments (by gays, obviously, sometimes I can’t help thinking that they cannot have any other hobbies). I’ve reported a subset of that to the police and the closest any of this ever got to anything is that they managed to catch street robber and then let him run using a pretext they fabricated for this purpose.
Respect must be earned. And that’s not the way to achieve this.
[*] Arguably, by my own stupidity. While wrestling with the guy trying to rob me, he managed to pull the purse out of my back pocket.
The problem is that there protestors tend to be very confused individuals, often even not sure which bathroom to use.
If they were convincingly female, I’m sure the Met coppers would be all over them…
Good God…while most of the comments are in favour of supporting the motorist in this, there is still a depressing amount of f*ckwits saying things like “well the Earth is going to die!” or “he’ll have nowhere to go because of the floods soon!”…
Do they honestly not know about cyclical changes in the atmosphere? Have they ever heard of Ice Ages? Why are they so arrogant that they think we as humans have any real effect on the environment? A few thousand years and we’ll all be gone, but our planet will be perfectly fine, green, wet, hot and icy. Ain’t shit to do with us.
Spot on.
Isn’t this wonderful? Because ordinary people know that the criminally corrupt and genocidal government is writing a death sentence for millions, the police is out in force to protect Just Stop Oil protestors from angry motorists held up by them when the needed to get to work. Clearly, commuters are dictatorically running the country, only grass roots civil rights organizations like the Met can save the planet from them and that the police works for government is just one of those inane internet conspiracy theories.
As usual whenever the woketards are out in force to terrorize ordinary people, they must urgently prevent a genocide. Everything will always end in genocide unless whatever fuels their trantrums today is implemented to the letter.
The police can easily solve the problem if they want but choose not to. All they have to do is arrest the demonstrators for breach of the peace. That includes actions that are likely to cause a breach of the peace, i.e. causing 3rd parties to possibly start a fight (or commit assault). Once the demonstrators have been arrested they can be taken to a safe place and then de-arrested. So no paperwork. What would be so difficult about that? Problem solved.
If you’re going to be arrested, you might as well make the crime murder.
Too much of that going on anyway. Not too many arrests though.
One day these erks are going to upset the wrong person.
Up Whitehaven way?
Oh Matron!
Plenty of faux-panic inducing scraping of the barrel here. They’re trying really hard, I can tell. Trouble is, the legacy media are very much like the boy who cried wolf aren’t they? One day there’ll be some genuine catastrophe or major threat and everyone will be like, ”Yeah, yeah. Pull the other one you lying, traitorous scuzz-buckets! We remember the Scamdemic years!”
”The World Health Organization warned on Tuesday that there is ‘a huge biological risk’ associated with the occupation of a central public health lab as fighters stormed the building.
The World Health Organization said that fighters in conflict-ravaged Sudan had occupied a central public laboratory in the capital Khartoum, holding samples of diseases including polio and measles and creating an ‘extremely, extremely dangerous’ situation.
‘There is a huge biological risk associated with the occupation of the central public health lab… by one of the fighting parties,’ Nima Saeed Abid, the WHO’s representative in Sudan, told reporters in Geneva via video-link.”

Well of course samples of diseases would be held in a lab in Khartoum wouldn’t they? Sudan, a country that’s been at war for ooh, sixty plus years?
“Safe and effective” comes to mind. For crying out loud.
A crime is it Mr PC? That’s a relief as the police stopped tackling crime some years ago.
It is the inversion of reality and the reason we call it ‘clown world’. The police have become too woke and have lost all sense and, let’s be honest, no longer know what they stand for or who they are meant to serve.
More Khan world. Why wouldn’t the Sadiq welcome anything which helps him in his fight against imaginary toxic air in London?
Gosh …. Peter Bone obviously doesn’t realise that Parliament could stop this if it wanted to.
The Government doesn’t WANT to stop them: it is tacitly encouraging the Eco Terrorism so that it can justify its own Eco Lunacy.
If you’re going to be arrested for “assaulting” eco-terrorists, you might as well be arrested for GBH
Keystone Cops eat your heart out. Mack Sennett is now at the Met, discussing a film contract.
Government and Eco Activists are playing for the same team. How can you brainwash people into gluing themselves to the road and pursuing more and more disruption and then arrest them all? You would look kind of silly. So they are allowed to get away with it.———— Liberals say “But in a democracy you must be allowed to protest”. ——–True. By all means protest, but your right to protest should not trump my right to move around freely in a supposed free society. So, at what level of disruption do government decide it is time to stop it? They jailed two people for climbing onto a bridge, yes, but if the road is blocked all the way from Marble Arch to London Bridge is that too much disruption? If the M6 is blocked all day and night is that too much disruption? When does disruption become too much? I suggest it needs nipped in the bud NOW otherwise people are going to be seriously hurt or worse. Are people going to have to die before action is taken against people who don’t seem to realise that the UK is actually fighting the alleged climate change harder and faster than any other country. We are getting rid of coal, petrol, diesel gas, and we are pursuing anti human policies all under false pretences of a climate emergency that is implausible, and all based on the worst case scenarios from phony climate models that are poor predictive tools and do not actually correspond with what is happening in the real world. The UK and its NET ZERO will have an undetectable effect on global climate at astronomical cost. If something will have no effect then why do it? —————-Because it was NEVER about the climate the first place. ———The silly activists just don’t realise that yet. Once they have tepid water from their heat pumps, power cuts, and are sick eating bluebottles they might eventually realise how thick they are.
The UK hasn’t yet committed to pulling the Net Zero target year forwards by ten years despite the UN demanded it. Hence, a renewed round of eco-terrorism is called for.
Protest is about expressing one’s political opinions in public. Preventing a perfectly random set of people from getting from some point A to another point B they need to reach for some purpose they believe to be important is not about expressing opinions. It’s terrorizing the populace. Disruption may be a side effect of political protests. But it doesn’t follow that everything which causes disruption must be political protest.
Bit rich coming from a Tory MP. His party is as captured by the eco-loon agenda as the police. The police chiefs have learned that if they take a strong line on the eco -loons and the MSM accuse them of being ‘strong-armed’ ‘bullying’ or whatever his party would throw them under a bus. The reluctance and cowardice of the police chiefs to take affirmative action is more than matched by that of the fake Conservative Party.
A police force that foments civil unrest through selective support of special interest groups, providing an environment for criminal activity and generally destroying any reputation and credibility they have could be seen as a job well-done by anyone looking to justify greater population control or increased militarisation of law enforcement.
