Headteacher Mike Fairclough spoke up against the Covid interventions. He saw first-hand what harm school closures and mask mandates do to kids. He asked serious questions about vaccinating youngsters. And he paid a price.
Fairclough has written an emotional piece describing the personal cost of being a whistleblower in defence of children.
The Substack account of UsForThem, the lobby group started by a group of mums to stand up for children during the lockdown, has published his story.
Although I have been cleared of any wrongdoing on all occasions, following independent investigations, these attacks have inevitably taken their toll on me. My 19-year career as a headteacher has been overwhelmingly successful up until this point. My employer, Ofsted and the Department for Education have always supported my educational innovations and celebrated the achievements of the school prior to this time. However, I am now perceived as an extremist and a trouble maker, despite being cleared of the radical allegations against me. I have also been told by former colleagues that I deserve to be punished and should never have spoken out. It appears that any criticism of the Government in relation to its pandemic response and its effects on children is seen as a form of blasphemy by devout followers of the orthodox Covid consensus.
Some of those colleagues believe I was wrong to even question the vaccine roll-out to children because, they tell me, children needed to be vaccinated in order to protect vulnerable adults. I go to sleep thinking about the situation, I dream about it and then wake up in the morning worrying about it again. As a result, my health has suffered in ways which I have never before experienced. I have lost weight, have a constant knot in the pit of my stomach and feel agitated and low much of the time. My personal relationships have also suffered and it feels like every aspect of my life has taken a hit. All because I did my job by blowing the whistle about my safeguarding concerns for the children in my care. This is something which I should be protected for doing, not attacked for, provided I have acted in good faith. I don’t regret speaking out, but I won’t pretend that it has been an easy ride.

Profanity and abuse will be removed and may lead to a permanent ban.
Using children to shield adults is the ultimate form of cowardice, shame on them.
You have my respect and gratitude Mike.
Good man. Total respect.
Safeguarding; the authorities view:
Its everyone’s responsibility to alert the authorities if there are concerns over the well-being and treatment of any child, so that we can decide if we ignore it or not due to ‘cultural reasons’.
Safeguarding of the vulnerable in society was my driving motivation for speaking out about the harms that the pandemic government kneejerk actions would cause. I was vilified for saying that children would suffer lifelong harms related to communication, speech & language development & the subsequent impact that these would have on educational attainment & subsequently life chances. I really, really hate that I wasn’t wrong.
It is a lawful requirement of each & every one of us to report safeguarding issues, not just within certain professions. The vast majority of teaching, healthcare, police, social work, legal professionals have abjectly failed in their lawful, legal & moral duty to safeguard those who need it. There are a minority of honourable individuals who did their duty & were vilified for it.
We each have a duty to protect the children & vulnerable. The cost of doing so has been high for each of us who has done so, that cost being much higher for some than others.
This headteacher is a fine example of an honourable man whose moral compass points True.
Spot on.
I think the message needs driving home to those who are still unaware, that the main reason for this very aberrant leaning towards myopic consensus where previously open debate would be freely engaged in, is the psychological manipulation that was visited upon us from all angles.
This was in large part courtesy of SPI-B, the subcommittee of SAGE who took it upon themselves to terrify the nation into abolishing all critical thought and acting in lockstep with the propaganda. Much of the time, this would be subliminal: public messaging posters caught out of the corner of your eye, unnoticed sidebar propaganda on social media, overheard conversations reiterating the propaganda, radio ads we thought we weren’t listening to.
But whether we notice things consciously or not, they’re all registered and stored long-term in the subconscious, and repetition reinforces belief. Our government over the past three years, for the first time ever, has become the nations largest advertiser, with all its “Covid communications” and this is precisely the reason that we have been brainwashed without being aware. This is exactly the reason that we’ve been swept into the cult of orthodox opinion regarding pandemic-related issues, without realizing it!
Absolutely but I am unable to comprehend why so many people did not see the obvious from the outset. I threw my TV out, stopped the licence as I was so incensed after the first act of the 3 stooges at the lecturn in late March 2020 and started taking the Lockdown Sceptic from its first issue and subscribing soon after.
I did not wear a mask, had numerous ‘rumbles’ with various people and took every opportunity to explain that from the outset that this was not anything more than a Winter virus that we had as bad in the 1950s and 60s.
Why is the public so pathetic and unable to assess anything for themselves?
These are people still with children under their care. What a frightening thought!
They are not only deluded about what jabs do but they are willing to gamble with the loves of children for the benefit of “vulnerable adults”.
There is something to the idea that it is probably the ignorant who commit some of the most evil acts.
The reaction of your erstwhile, pusillanimous colleagues tells us much more about them than it does about you Mike. Keep fighting. You have the support of all people capable of critical thought.
This, in my opinion, is Bob Moran’s most powerful cartoon.

The people who want to experiment on children as a human shield are no different and no better than Mengele.
Thank you. That is some cartoon – stopped me in my tracks with its message.
As an educator myself, I have seen a clear drop in children’s abilities since lockdowns. Difficulty concentrating, listening, completing homework, and, simply, thinking. I have seen studies corroborating this, and it’s a terrible, terrible shame.
Hats off to you, Mike. At least you can live with yourself (your conscience). I hope you have found people near you who support you. If not, be sure that many many across this land will be behind you. I, for one, will pray for you.
This headteacher should be commended, not criticised. His fears for the children in his care have now been proven to be well-founded and mainly right. Any colleagues acting against him or criticising him are wrong and should apologise. It is clear the government’s actions about schoolchildren have caused massive damage to many of them, and this headteacher should be praised by trying to act against them.
