Greta Thunberg Goes Full Woke, Calls for “Overthrow of Whole Capitalist System”

by Will Jones
31 October 2022 6:19 PM

The Doom Goblin has come of age, and with maturity (don’t scoff) has come a widening of her political vision. No longer is she merely the teenager who “sees carbon dioxide“, but now she is become the prophet calling for the overthrow of the “whole capitalist system”, with its “colonialism, imperialism, oppression, genocide” of “racist, oppressive extractionism”. Appearing Sunday night at London’s Royal Festival Hall to launch her “Climate Book“, Thunberg announced her new Far Left political manifesto, and Nicholas Harris from UnHerd was there to watch.

Previously, she’d sold herself as a five-foot human alarm bell, a climate Cassandra. Her role was to warn, not to instruct: her most viral moments involved her scolding political leaders, not trying to supplant them. She strenuously avoided programmatic detail, saying such things were “nothing to do with me”. But now, on stage and in this book, she has found her political feet, specifically the Left-wing ideology of anti-capitalism and de-growth.

Interspersed among the usual directives about the need to pressure political leaders, her message was more radical and more militant than it has been in the past. There is no “back to normal”, she told us. “Normal” was the “system” which gave us the climate crisis, a system of “colonialism, imperialism, oppression, genocide”, of “racist, oppressive extractionism”. Climate justice is part of all justice; you can’t have one without the others. We can’t trust the elites produced by this system to confront its flaws – that’s why she, much like Rishi Sunak, won’t be bothering with the COP meeting this year. COP itself is little more than a “scam” which facilitates “greenwashing, lying and cheating”. Only overthrow of “the whole capitalist system” will suffice.

So now we are finally seeing the contours of Thunbergism. Run your eye down the contributors to The Climate Book and you can see who she’s been reading: Jason Hickel, Kate Raworth, Naomi Klein. For these people the climate crisis isn’t man-made. It’s made by capitalism, as are the other forms of social injustice which plague society. There’s no GDP growth – especially of the capitalist sort – without increasing carbon emissions. The only solution to this state of emergency is for rich countries to immediately abandon economic expansion as a social goal.

Worth reading in full.

The only reason to report on Thunberg is to either end her or expose some form of corruption. Do not play their game. These idiots with their end is nigh noneense only need to be ignored.

I see your point, but it would be good to help Greta avoid throwing away her whole life on a nonsensical project that is unnecessary and impossible.

Very gracious and forgiving of you

I’m not inclined to be so charitable

She is welcome to renounce consumerism or whatever she thinks she is doing but she wants to force everyone else to do the same

She is an enemy to me and my family

She is a nasty piece of work who shares the same anti human ideas that Stalin, Mao and other criminals held. She is an appalling human being and we should cut her no slack at all.

Nasty as they were it could be argued that dictators like Stalin and Mao were trying to ultimately improve the human condition, although it obviously and predictably went horribly wrong, and so weren’t as anti human as Greta and all the other eco loons who despise all humanity and think the planet would be better off without humans, or at least with 6 billion less humans.
Stalin and Mao had the advancing rather than ending of humanity as their goal so in this respect weren’t as nasty as Greta.

I heard her on Jeremy Vine’s Radio 2 programme earlier, I have to say that her persona has improved with age but I cannot say the same about her message.

I think she would benefit enormously by sitting down with some sensible people and running through the what-she-thinks versus reality comparison for all the various claims.

Antarctic glacier retreat
Permafrost melting
Greenland ice sheet thickness
Winter arctic ice extent
Great Barrier Reef bleaching
Global temperature trajectory
El Nino and La Nina
Beaufort gyre
Urban heat island temperature measurement distortion

Explain the various decadal and multi-decadal changes that are the root cause of cyclical climate variations. Show her the Nikolov and Zeller papers that show that surface temperature is essentially driven by solar irradiance and surface atmospheric pressure.

It’s all out there.

She needs to be disabused of the distorted information she is fed by the interested parties that have grabbed on to her as the face and voice of concern.

Actually drive her far from anywhere, and leave her alone exposed over night without access to heat, shelter or food. The best way to disabuse someone of their own evil is to subject them to their own ideology. Ppl who feel sympathy should remember she will bear responsibility for freezing ppl to death.

Well said! I feel someempathy for youngsters who have been brought up with years of doom-mongering and now cencorship and cancelling of those who oppose and point to flaws in the narrative. It is a pity our pathetic BBC and other media don’t get her into a live debate and go through some of the data you mention. That might make Greta turn her ire on the deception and lies. In many ways I admire her for making a stand for what she sees as ‘ saving the planet, truth and justice’.

The puppet may eventually be destroyed by those pulling its strings. It’s not suddenly going to do anything on its own. I mean, seriously, colonialism, imperialism, genocide in a world largely without colonies since about 50 years, one which abandoned imperialism, a political doctrine of the late 19th century, almost a century ago and one where the last, somewhat successful attempt at a genocide happened in the 1990s in Africa? This is nothing but a meaningless string of buzzwords the so-called American left likes to recite to claim its fight against the spectres of an increasingly distant past would still be somehow relevant to anyone but these people themselves.

Exactly. I met quite a few kids of ‘elite’ parents who fancied her, wnet to FFF demos, demanded their parents take a bicycle to work etc. and these parents supported all that and dutifully obliged.
Now that she also wants their money, house and share portfolios, the parents will immediately lose interest, withdraw support and some might actually find the courage to have a serious conversation with their kids about it.
Not that these kids were really keen to give up their privileges obtained through their parents money and status, that probably was never seriously on the cards.

Like all the anti-capitalist loons, they fail to see that all the good things in the world, which significantly outweigh the bad, have been provided by entrepreneurial capitalism too.

But then the irony of writing a book against capitalism on an iPad, using the Cloud for research, wearing clothes bought from the internet, and books from Amazon, waiting for her Just Eat driver to deliver her food and a Deliveroo guy to bring the toilet rolls she forgot to get at the ‘house of plentiful and boundless supply’, her local supermarket, is almost certainly lost on her, as it is on on the other one dimensional thinking young people.

I know (somewhat superficially, as I’m – politely put – not the most social person) a lot of so-called young people and they don’t seem much different from other people to me. The English divide and conquer is really old enough that there’s a latin original – divide et impera – and the people who orchestrate this mock children’s crusade know that maxime very well. Division is always among their tools of choice. It’s important to resist that.

The young are impressionable and easily led (I know I was at 16). They are also quite idealist, and struggle to accept that life really isn’t fair, and that bad choices are your responsibility, and the rest of us shouldn’t have to pick up the tab for it. Its easier to make lots of excuses, and with the enormous weight of experience and wisdom you have accumulated at 16, propose, not just changes to our society, but to sweep it away and replace it with something you and all your 16 year old friends agree would be much better.

I’m generalising, btw…

More summarizing prejudices. One of my pet theories is that most people never really get much older than 16, only nastier then they generally were at that time and wearing off as the years pass by. So-called young people have absolutely no monopoly on believing in stupid stuff, making bad choices because of it and then cry for someone else to deal with the consequences and often sucessfully so. Corona comes obviously to mind here.

Life isn’t fair is a euphemism. A lot of people won’t treat you fairly if that’s to their own benefit expresses it much better. I remember I recognized that already at school, I was only having higher expectations about so-called grown-ups before I got to know them after becoming one myself.

Bad choices are your responsibility is always easily said when one both isn’t affected by them and has the benefit of hindsight. Or has just had more luck. Mercy is said to be a virtue of the gods. It’s not entirely out of place in people as well. Everybody makes mistakes, even the most experienced of us.

Lastly, I agree with the notion of the 16 year olds and the (communist) world revolution. But these were the 16-year-olds of 1965, they’re still among us, still proposing this and other people, some of them younger than others, still fall for this nonsense. But times when they could rightfully be called young and naive are long gone. These people are a problem or rather, cause problems. The ones misled by them not so much.

I know. She’s got similarities to Gates in that regard. How people can put these two, who have no qualifications on what they are preaching about, on a pedestal and let them have free rein all over MSM and social media, but the likes of Prof of Evidence Based Medicine, Carl Heneghan, gets banned from Twitter for showing government data and Dr Byram Bridle, a vaccinologist, is persecuted and smeared as an “anti-vaxxer” is beyond me! The constant examples of ‘Clown World Logic’ would be funny if they weren’t so devastating to the recipients of these character assassinations. I think at this point in time, if they did a roll call of everyone who’s been banned from Twitter and other social media platforms they will quickly see that they all have one common denominator; that none of the banned were toeing the official narrative line and were merely sharing uncomfortable truths. I mean, crystal is opague by comparison.

Here is my response to Greta Thunberg’s interview on the relevant YouTube feed https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ropBOwPvmLM&t=18s:

Re Ms Thunberg’s ‘We are not yet aware that we are not yet aware’… that at some stage in the future all of this pseudo-scientific and evidence-free ‘Manmade Catastrophic Climate Change’ apocalyptic nonsense will be filed under the same sort of head-scratching ‘how did they they ever fall for this obvious nonsense?’ horrified bemusement as Soviet, Maoist and Cambodian engineered famines (tens of millions of fatalities) and the Green-Nazi Holocaust.

The only genuinely threatened (and already actual) deaths from ‘The Climate Crisis’ are among those who cannot afford astronomically increased heating bills caused by a completely unnecessary switch from cheap and reliable fossil fuels to useless and unaffordable ‘alternative’ versions such as windmills and solar mirrors.

Oh yes, and at a broader environmentalism-based level starving Africans deprived of life-saving sustenance because the food-aid offered had a ‘GM’ (observably and undeniably safe for decades) label attached.

As another route into understanding what is really going on just now in terms of Green agendas and protests (especially the obsession with ‘youthful wisdom’) look up ‘The Chinese Cultural Revolution’ of the 1960s and 70s.

None of this is meant as a personal attack against Greta Thunberg, who is clearly well-intentioned.

The spiritual struggle is always ideological and practical, never personal.

A lot of people who have been looking at this issue for a while are aware of the politics. We remember statements going back to 1992 like ” Current lifestyles and consumption patterns of the affluent middle class involving high meat intake, use of fossil fuels, appliances, air conditioning, suburban housing etc are not sustainable”——————— We remember also— “Isn’t the only hope for the planet that the industrialised civilisations collapse, and isn’t it our responsibility to bring that about”?—————– A top down command and control NET ZERO agenda is now in place here in the UK and a few other countries and if people do not wake up then soon every thing we do will be tracked via a digital currency, and freedom to purchase what ever we want with our own money will be gone. This is and has never been about the climate, and the little girl that the would be world government people at the UN and WEF etc stick up at podiums to do their dirty work for them thinks this is a lovely idea. But according to climate change dogma, every single thing that humans do causes “climate change” , and therefore every single thing we do has to be controlled ——-And it will be unless we stop falling for computer models masquerading as science, and the King telling us we have ” a small window of opportunity” or told that every storm or flood or drought was caused by us and our capitalism.—– But people are very busy with work and family life and often do not have the time to investigate every issue. But this is one issue they really need to be investigating. They need to stop switching on the 6 o’clock News every night on BBC and SKY to be told we “must fight climate change”, because it is the biggest pseudo scientific scam ever perpetrated.

I think Greta thinks that the expenses for her life-style is grown on CO2 friendly money trees?

Walking mountains, sailing to the Artic, N.America. Conference lifestyle in swanky resorts, no-doubt visiting the sub-continent tropics, Himalayas, the Amazon Basin.

All with that very expensive clothing, tents, sleeping bags and yachts etcs….And that is aside from all the trains, planes and automobiles and farting methane donkeys she needs for her to get to her adventures.

Where does the money come from Greta? NGO’s (financed by charitable tax payers), GOs (financed by tax payers). Banks? Corporations? (financed by money-earning customers).

Im afraid Greta if Capitalism was banned, you would starve to death in a street alley without any cardboard to keep you warm and sheltered.

Though I like Ms Thunberg’s now much calmer and less aggressive manner I perceive the contents of her current flurry of talks to be a form of offensive hate-speech against my own non-Green belief system and self-identification, therefore think that she should be cancelled immediately! 🙂

In any case I have put up a reply to another of her recent YouTube posted interviews which is hopefully relevant to this thread:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YXezjC_s2Vw

This substance and fact free laudatory ‘interview’, and indeed the entire Green Climate Change pseudo-scientific, misanthropic and tyrannical agenda can be symbolically summed up by the studio backdrop – an image of a fireman standing in front of a blazing fire super-imposed with ‘Emergency on Planet Earth’.

A) No fire has ever been caused by direct atmospheric heat; combustion takes place at between 200 and 5000 degrees Celsius, not (for example) the couple of highly localised instances of 40 degrees in the UK hysterically reacted to this summer.

Furthermore in spite of the endlessly repeated propaganda there is no empirically provable evidence that what are in fact relatively small and entirely normal claimed global temperature increases of less than 1 degree Celsius since the onset of the 19th century Industrial Revolution (incidentally increases which have mysteriously stalled in the last 20 years) can be attributed to mankind’s C02 emitting or other activities.

So the whole thing is a visual lie.

B) Firemen require massive fossil-fuel driven vehicles and pumps to carry out their life-saving work.

There is no realistic possibility of battery powered replacements in the near future; and even if there were (and this obviously applies to all electric vehicles) the power for recharging the batteries themselves has to be generated – which in turn requires fossil fuelled power plants for when the wind, you know, doesn’t blow, and the sun, erm, fails to shine (something it tends to do with frustrating regularity during the hours known as ‘night’; and in many part of northern Britain pretty much all the time! 🙂 )

Nuclear is another possible electrical generation technology, but the same Green / Climate Change movement tends to oppose this and it is much more expensive and difficult / time consuming to create the plants in any case – far better to simply make use of the readily available, cheap and efficient fossil fuels that exist, including in the UK alone hundreds of years worth of coal, hundreds of years worth of frackable gas, and vast untapped North Sea oil and gas reserves.

C) The only climate related ‘Emergency on Planet Earth’ is the one being created by the Climate Change / Net Zero movement and agenda itself, which amongst many other catastrophic consequences is massively contributing to levels of energy and general price inflation which will almost certainly lead to a huge upswing in deaths from freezing this winter in the UK (according to the UK Health Security Agency already running at over 60,000 between 2000 and 2019)

Indeed the inevitable and natural consequence of worshipping ‘The Planet’ is the concomitant mass destruction of human beings; who require to make use its plentiful resources to survive.

Well there’s a surprise. Greta’s real goal is to ‘overthrow Capitalism.’ Who could of seen that coming? (sarcastic)

There’s a strong argument that economic growth has come to a natural end in may parts of the world as populations age and naturally decline and people’s demand for new ‘stuff’ saturates. See the work of Gregory Copland. This is all entirely manageable in a genuine free market system, but a terrifying prospect for corrupt businessmen running Ponzi schemes, governments making promises they can’t afford to keep and bankers trying to hide $billions of bad debt on their balance sheets. It’s understandable that they would want to usher in a more totalitarian system in order to save their own worthless hides whilst claiming it is ‘to prevent Climate change’ or ‘because of Covid’ or ‘to re-dress institutionalised racism and colonialism’ or ‘to protect Ukraine’ or….
