Environment Secretary Dame Angela Eagle has advised the British public to stock up on food because of the approaching El Niño weather phenomenon, said to be the ‘biggest on record’. The Telegraph has more.
Dame Angela Eagle said people in the UK should store supplies in case of emergencies caused by the natural weather phenomenon, which is predicted to strengthen in the coming months.
Her comments came after Ministers were warned that Britain must prepare for the threat of food shortages.
Forecasters have warned that the weather pattern, which can increase the risk of drought and flooding across the world, needs to be taken seriously in Britain.
Dame Angela said this year’s El Niño would lead to wetter winters and more extreme storms in the UK, which has already experienced one of the driest summers on record.
She told the Guardian: “We’re about to experience probably the largest El Niño that has ever been seen. It will do a lot more damage in Asia with flooding, and therefore I think that we need to take it seriously.”
She added: “If you’ve got a store of a bit of food that can keep you going for a while before the emergency services can get to you, you’re going to be a lot better off than if you haven’t.
“So some of it is that kind of preparation for just being a bit more resilient.”
Dame Angela’s comments came after the National Audit Office (NAO) said disruption to Britain’s food system was “becoming more likely and potentially more severe” because of extreme weather events.
Ministers were told by the quango to do more to prepare for these potential “catastrophic events” that could cause severe disruption to the nation’s food supplies.
The NAO called for the Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs (Defra) to urgently work with businesses and households to draw up emergency plans that could be used in the event of shortages.

Fairly typically, for the clown show that is our government, absolutely no advice on what you should stockpile, per person, nor for the duration you might expect to need it.
That might be better use for a leaflet than one telling you how not to rape people…

so the Geoengineering going on for a few years now, as evidenced by this past dry summer, when there was NO EL NINO. Man manipulated Geoengineering. And it continues. For all those who continue to believe climate change is caused by the buildup of CO2…..look up. See the chemtrails, that the met office calls contrails, see the Sun dimming that goes on throughout the winter, that the UK has now admitted to. Did anyone see the 3 hurricanes in the Pacific Ocean this week. One predicted to make landfall in Hawaii. The paths of these hurricanes are odd. It is almost like they are being manmade. Look up DARPA, NOAA, HAARP, DEWS, and finally DOD.

But. The US weather agency NOAA ranks major El Niño events: 1982-83, 1997-98 at the top, with 1877-78 among the strongest.
The three “record” events are 1982-83; 1997-98; 2015-16.
Why do these numpties insist on lying. Haven’t they heard of AI or the WUWT website which readily provide the truth?
And NOAA and others are predicting a “very strong” event. NONE are saying it will be the strongest on record.
The stupidity of MPs is incredible but it seems to go up a notch when they become Cabinet ministers. Angela Eagle is a prime example, although I don’t doubt that she’s on message with government nudge units and communication guidelines to try and keep us all anxious and in fear of pretty much everything. Best ignored.

And the chancellor will be happy as well, because he will see a short term boost to the economy as supermarket shelves empty and homes fill with unwanted consumables. Lovely jubbly. Don’t worry that there was a strong El Nino in 23/24, 15/16 and a couple of dozen recorded in the second half of the twentieth century, because like everything, when it happens in the modern snowflake era, it’s always so much worse than previously.

The advice should of been to stock up on food because the government is allowing 10,000s of acres of productive farmland to be covered in solar panels and wants farmers to plant trees on loads more land or rewild it.
Imo butterflies look pretty and badgers are cute but producing food has to take priority.
You’ll get a lot more biodiversity around fields of crops than around fields of solar panels, I’ll wager.

El Nino is a naturally made change in weather systems every seven years. This warning is total fear spreading as part of the UN Agenda 2030 to control the world by the fear of climate change.
