Gym, Football Pitch, Snack Bar and 17 Free Minibuses: Inside the Wethersfield Asylum ‘Holiday Camp’

Writing in the Mail, Reform councillor and Essex Council leader Peter Harris tours Wethersfield’s former RAF base, now an asylum ‘holiday camp’ with gyms, sports pitches and free food. Here’s an excerpt:

Welcome to Holiday Camp UK. For the 800 guests enjoying the luxury sports facilities, this place is unbeatable.

As I saw for myself this week on a visit to the camp in Wethersfield, deep in the Essex countryside, residents want for practically nothing. There’s a fully equipped gymnasium, a fitness room, a full-sized football pitch and a substantial indoor sports hall with all the equipment for five-a-side soccer, basketball and cricket – all free.

For those who want to kick back and take it easy, there are recreation rooms with televisions and pool tables, and a snack bar.

Mobile phones are provided for all, with generous allowances for free calls.

The main restaurant, serving two dining halls, provides three meals a day with a wide choice of meals, including vegetarian options.

All the food is free. The only restriction is that all meat is halal – non-Muslims don’t get a choice about that.

It also has an onsite healthcare centre

Similarly, though the prayer rooms are described as a multi-faith area, most of the religious material is Islamic, with plenty of Korans and no Bibles. Prayer mats cover almost all the available floor space.

A squadron of free minibuses, 17 of them, are laid on three times a day, seven days a week – even on Christmas Day – to take the 800 camp residents into the nearby towns of Braintree, Chelmsford and Colchester.

And how much does it cost to stay here? For residents, that’s the best bit. Not only is everything free, but there’s a tenner a week extra in every pocket… or, to be absolutely accurate, an allowance of £9.95 per person, to cover any incidental costs, loaded onto a prepaid debit card.

The official name for this place is Wethersfield Airfield Asylum Accommodation.

RAF Wethersfield in Essex in March 2023

And although it’s free for the hundreds of ‘happy campers’, the bill for Britain is eye-watering. According to a National Audit Office report last year, asylum accommodation contracts are estimated to cost the taxpayer £15.3 billion over the next 10 years.

So-called ‘dispersal sites’, mostly former military properties, are regarded as cheaper than the short-term solution of placing illegal migrants in hotels. But the impact on surrounding communities is immense and the sheer unfairness of the financial burden is shocking.

Not that all the illegal migrants here seem to appreciate it. The most frequent request posted in the suggestion boxes is not for educational resources, or even pleas for news of loved ones supposedly left behind in war zones and terror states. What irks them most, apparently, is the lack of a swimming pool. …

The first stop for most illegal migrants, whether they arrive across the Channel on a small boat or stowing away in lorries and other vehicles, is Manston Asylum Processing Centre in Kent, another former military airfield. Here they are vetted and undergo biometric testing, including fingerprinting. DNA samples, however, are not taken.

When I enquired about this, I was told that it might contravene their human rights, despite the obvious help it would offer police if any of the migrants go on to commit crimes. The men – and they are all men, aged 18 to 40 – can arrive at Wethersfield with new names, if they do not want to divulge their real ones at Manston. In effect, they have access to a whole new identity. Once this is registered, there appears to be almost no way of knowing who they were before they came here.

Those bodybuilders in the gym could easily be part of an army sent here piecemeal by an enemy state such as Iran. And we are paying for their training. If you wanted to help terrorists come into the country unknown and unregistered with no checks on them, I can’t think of a better system.

Worth reading in full.

Those on the Left say that migrants are not coming here because they can get access to a Gym and football pitches. But what all of this reveals is the mindset of the Political Class on the Left. They want to provide everything except a RED CARPET. Then they have the audacity to come away with stuff like “Net Migration is down”

Surely white women should be imported into this billion dollar waste-fest to satisfy the Sex Jihad?

Mein Koran goes on at length why women should be raped and enslaved. Moh’s fav sex slave was Mary the White Coptic Christian.

Surely the UK Gov knows this need and is actively remediating?

I started working at 17 and retired just before reaching 70. I am attempting to live on the state pension of 12,750 pounds A YEAR.
What am I supposed to think? Why is the state far more generous and far kinder to people who have just arrived here who have never contributed anything to this country?

These are not British and they are illegal aliens. Their DNA is needed to find out where they came from, what age they are and their blood should be tested for diseases. Samples would certainly help solve crimes in the future.

Clearly there is no security – they can come and go as they please.

I note how demanding they seem to be and the British State leans over backwards to supply. Not so for British people. We have to queue, pay ourselves or go without.

Meanwhile, veterans traumatised by their service to their country, end up living rough on the streets. Utterly shameful.

I wouldn’t be surprised if there’s at least 20000 sleeper cell members of various nationalities at loose in England, fed, maintained and trained at our expense, for use against us when the moment comes.

Because don’t besides the boats there are the cross channel trucks and the rest of it, notdependent on the weather and likely to be at least and many again plus the bogus student visas, tourist visa overstayers whom the home office can’t be arsed to look for and deport, it’s a complete shitshow, I guess there’s at least 10 million people here who shouldn’t be, the vast majority suckling at the english tax payer’s teat one way or another.

The French actually got of their arses and used some of the money we gave them to make it much harder for people to cross the channel in the back of lorries. The fortifications around the ports are what’s needed around migrant camps in the UK so it’s very hard for illegals to get anywhere near queueing lorries. There’s also x-ray machines and carbon dioxide detectors to try and find anyone who does get into the back of a lorry. British HGV drivers know they should check for stowaways and how do to so. Anyone who drives a large vehicle (anything larger than a car) for reward, this includes teachers, outdoor pursuit instructors (I used to be one which is how I know this) etc. who drives as part of their job even if it’s only a small part of their job has to do Continuing Professional Development every so many years. This includes the importance of checking your vehicle for stowaways and all the places you need to check regardless of whether or not someone is ever going to drive a large vehicle in Europe. Presumably some drivers returning from Europe won’t bother to do the checks they should… Read more »

The fact that it’s now pretty hard to arrive in the UK in the back of a lorry would only be not too bad news if it was equally difficult for migrants to arrive via other means. This would only become really good news if everyone who overstayed a work or study visa was removed within a month or two of the visa expiring.

Should be on the day the visa expires, with lots of notice ahead of time, similar to Singapore… they don’t have a problem with ANYONE overstaying their visas…

Putin must be amending his CV on a daily basis, since his antics (true or not) are so widely reported.
